VP or AG deal, definitely. I hope not VP as she brings nothing to the ticket since California is a given blue state. Warren, Sanders, the Klob, and Pete don't bring anything either. Tammy Baldwin (WI) or Sherrod Brown (OH) would be better strategically. Trump's plan is to keep all the red states plus WI to win, hence holding the convention in Milwaukee.

As of today, 538 forecasts Biden's odds of winning the nomination at 2 in 5; Sanders' odds are 1 in 4.
Joe needs help commenting on Reddit, r/politics; the Sanders people are very organized and NASTY about Joe and the Democratic Party. They are like Trumpsters - fanatical about Sanders and his "outsider" status despite being in D.C. for 30 years. Anyone but Sanders is the enemy to them.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | January 24, 2020 5:49 PM |
I think he may want to make her his vice president. It would be a good move, I think.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | January 24, 2020 5:54 PM |
R24 Trump was a Democrat for decades and Bernie has been an indepedent for decades. They are both taking advantage of the relatively weak bench of both parties. Bernie has the rabid youth movement behind him. A demographic Biden wishes he had in his corner. The Berniebros are beyond fanatical and dedicated.

R28, Biden is much better in small settings than in large groups/debates. I know someone who met him in a smaller setting and they had nothing but good things to say. He is also good in expressing his policies on paper (please see his essay in Foreign Affairs magazine from this week on how he wants to reverse Trump's foreign policy).

by Anonymous | reply 39 | January 24, 2020 6:26 PM |
It all comes down to Congress.
They approve the judges, draft legislation and make the laws.
Biden can work with Congress.
Bernie cannot work with Congress.
You can vote for whomever you want in the primary, R33.
That being said, if by some miracle Bernie gets the nomination, you WILL vote for him R33.
Not voting for him or not voting at all will keep Trump in office and end the US.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | January 24, 2020 6:35 PM |
The Berners are committed and loud, but their shrill nastiness is NOT getting more voters to vote for Bernie, but instead encouraging more to NOT vote at all when Bernie flames out again.

by Anonymous | reply 45 | January 24, 2020 6:59 PM |
Actually, I do know how it works. Biden is supposed to be wonderful at working with Congress, but he couldn't get them to back off on the Obama Administration. Are they magically going to start working with him next year?
by Anonymous | reply 46 | January 24, 2020 7:01 PM |
45 posts in and there is no proof that this endorsement has happened. There were stories yesterday that she was considering it, but none that she has done so.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | January 24, 2020 7:07 PM |
Biden WAS wonderful with working with the Dems--he is the reason there was near unanimity among them when it came to pushing through Obamacare. When you actually do good things in congress and build relationships for 30 years, results tend to happen. Obviously, the Repubs weren't the same but they promised to sabotage Obama regardless (like when they shot down Obama's effort to cut payroll taxes by 50% which would have been HUGE for middle and lower class people). Bernie would not be able to work with Dems or Repubs. The dems hate him and consider him to be a stubborn, ideological, inflexible fringe nut.

Bernie Bros are not Democrats. They are mostly young naive idealist falling a cult leader. How can you tell? Well because if they don't get what they want, they are willing to sabotage the country by either voting for or sitting out so that Trump wins 4 more years.
Honestly, we should stop even trying to court them. They have no loyalty to a party ideology, only to an individual who is blindly fallowed. R58 - it's amusing how either you or your buddies continue to bitch about Kamala not having the black support when Biden already has it. He doesn't need what he already has. What he does need falls more in line with what Harris brings to the table - intellect, orator skills, an impressive political record, impressive humanitarian/social justice leadership ahead of her time, attractiveness, charisma, etc.

I don't agree with most of this. For an 80 year old dude, Biden is still good looking--he has always been handsome. Biden has an impressive political record, intellect (as demonstrated by his essay in Foreign Affairs) and I believe it was he who really nudged Obama in the right direction regarding gay marriage. Kamala is even more liberal as judged by her record in the senate but Biden's proposals for the economy are far better.

If the nominee is any of the men their pick for VP is going to be crucial. If they pick a woman she can't be seen as the token choice. I also think there could be backlash that a woman is only seen as second to a man. The woman is going to have to be seen as an equal.
