What’s your status?

Are you positive or negative? Do you get tested regularly? Do you practice safe sex?

by Anonymousreply 4January 23, 2020 5:47 PM

I am negative. I am not tested at all anymore and haven't been since my boyfriend (now my husband) decided that we would be permanent. When I was a slut in New Orleans, I was strictly safe only. I worked as a bar back in a gay bar in New Orleans and I was only 18 so it was very easy to be a slut but I wasn't willing to get sick over sex. I had one guy offer me money to bareback but I let him know I was fucking for fun, not dollars.

Negative by some miracle. Came out in 1985 - and slipped up many times and had unsafe sex. Usually drunk. It’s pure random luck I’m not positive. Just like straight woman accidentally become pregnant, horny gay kids got HIV. Even knowing how dangerous it was, the sexual urge/repression release overrides logic. I’m impressed by guys who never had unsafe sex. Required a level of self-control I didn’t have in my early 20s.

Positive, and found out through routine testing (every 6 months). I hadn't been sick at all. Routine testing is important and a lifesaver, y'all.

I asked because I just learned I am positive, and it’s acute. The fatigue and mouth sores are horrible. I’m on medication. How long before the meds kick in and the symptoms go away?
