Lizzo fights back against Jillian Michaels and her toxic statements

She looks so beautiful there in her yellow microbikini. That's the most adipose tissue the beach has seen since the last whale stranding.

Jillian continues to make enemies: Andy Cohen, Al Roker, Bob Harper, now Lizzo - she seems to have a problem getting along with others.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | January 16, 2020 10:36 PM |
I saw an excerpt of her Glastonbury performance and she was marking the vocals on the song. I did wonder if her weight was the cause. It's hard enough to sing and move for slim people.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | January 16, 2020 10:37 PM |
Lizzo seems like a lot of fun and would help me with my self-esteem issues, and be supportive and encouraging. She's someone I would actually want to hang out with, not that nasty Jillian Michaels.

I think one of the major requirements to become a celebrity today, is some sort of mental or emotional defect. Has to be.

I wouldn't have said it, but MIchaels is right. There is overweight, and there is this.
Bosy "positivity"" should be about healthy people not having 6 pack abs, or having a bit of a beer belly.
This women will have diabetes, joint issues, blood pressure issues, and die early. This is not something to be celebrated.
I certainly get it is hard to lose weight (I have totally been there), but she (and others) are proudly exclaiming, "I am a whale and isn't it glorious!". If you aren't going to lose the weight (again, I get it), then don't proclaim your body to be a positive role model for others.
Just no.

I'm going to get killed for saying this, but half the black women her age look like this. What is wrong with celebrating what they have? Not everyone can afford the whole foods and half a day work out lifestyle that Jillian Michaels has.

Obesity doesn't guarantee diabetes, but it significantly increases the risk. As your family members get older, there's a very good chance they'll succumb to it.

Jillian ought to save her comments and lectures for her paying clients. She has magazine interviews for outlets, as well as her books. She doesn't need to be publicly directing comments to anyone in particular.
If you cannot say anything nice, do not say anything at all. This, and The Golden Rule goes a very long way in getting on with others in this life.

by Anonymous | reply 49 | January 17, 2020 1:03 AM |
R47 I think she could begin with 1250 or 1300 if she's not exercising. IF as well. Sometimes people of this size do better on a strict diet for a spell first, then begin some aerobics and walking. It's really never ALL about money, as there certainly are poor people who are thin, and many fat rich people.
It's more about education regarding nutrition, healthy choices, portion control, and a knowledge of the energy required to burn the calories consumed, than money.

The idea that Lizzo is beautiful is an abomination. She's clearly a very sick woman who cannot control her appetite, not a role model of what anyone should look or be like. The idea that she has great self-esteem is ludicrous and nothing more than advertising for her brand.

The thing is, Jillian Michaels is a self-hating former fattie who spends 6 hours a exercising because she lives in fear.
It's totally obvious that whenever she berates Lizzo or some other obese person, it's not their health she's concerned about, it's it's her desire to eat a box of Krispie Kreme and she's bringing up Lizzo only to promote herself.
Lizzo is right to prance about in a few bits of gold Lycra if only to piss her off.

[quote]Stop trying to mainstream obesity.
Americans have been fat since the 1950s. I know the keen minds of Datalounge think obesity didn't begin until 1992, but the fact is that obesity has been and will continue to be mainstream in the United States for a variety of complex reasons, and no amount of "uhm but it shouldn't be shown? because it's like bad and stuff?" pseudo logic will negate that fact.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | January 17, 2020 11:13 AM |
[quote]1500 calories/day is not very expensive
Adaptive thermogenesis (commonly called "starvation mode") is a genuine challenge for people trying to lose weight, and to an extent, recent research has shown that "obesity as a disease in which the human body actively opposes the “cure” over long periods of time beyond the initial resolution of symptomatology." Basically, when someone diets, the body defends its resources of fat stores through a variety of means, and a 1500 calorie per day diet alone would not counteract this problem.
There are ways to lose weight but they are complex and involve more than just eating a cheap 1500 calorie/day diet.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | January 17, 2020 11:20 AM |
What bothers me is the idea that anyone who is “thin” is going to extremes to achieve it by exercising 14x/week and starving themselves. Guess what happens when you actually starve yourself? You starve to death and die. I do think a lot of people have bad habits and to make up for these they go through periods of deprivation. But when I read about some instaho or celeb taking about what they eat every day and it’s 10 almonds, a banana, 1/2 an avocado and kale it makes me nuts. You can have eggs and bacon for breakfast, a small sandwich for lunch and meatloaf and salad for dinner and be slim, even if it’s not a clean, vegan, macrobiotic, whatever diet. This idea that being “thin” is some kind of anomaly is strange.
I’m fat and guess what? My eating habits are atrocious!
by Anonymous | reply 65 | January 17, 2020 11:57 AM |
R65 speaks the truth. Everything in moderation.
by Anonymous | reply 66 | January 17, 2020 1:35 PM |
They're not lying, though. They really are eating a low 1000-calorie diet to keep thin and no, they couldn't eat bacon and eggs in the morning and meatloaf at night and stay celebrity thin. It's weird that you think they could.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | January 17, 2020 2:44 PM |
When you're so obese that your naval opens into a second ass crack, it's time to rethink body positivity.
by Anonymous | reply 68 | January 17, 2020 2:53 PM |
Having been fat it’s absolutely no fun and terrible for your health. That said there is nothing healthy about shows like The Biggest Loser and didn’t Jillian’s colleague have a heart attack? Being thin doesn’t mean healthy and fat shaming isn’t cool. Lizzo will lose weight when and if she wants to.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | January 17, 2020 3:05 PM |

She's right. Look how tiny Lizzos feet, ankles and calves are compared to the rest of her body. I bet she's not naturally that big, considering her frame near her ankles. The American diet and lifestyle must be to blame.

by Anonymous | reply 81 | January 17, 2020 9:11 PM |
If we want universal healthcare then yeah, her promoting obesity in the name of body positivity is affecting all of us because we’re paying for treatment of obesity-related diseases. It’s why in countries like Japan obese people are seen as eating up (no pun intended) health budgets, so when people trend up to certain weight, they get proactive follow-ups by their primary medical team. They know that it’s unsustainable to have healthcare for all when society is filled with sick fat people. Here we have a culture that equates health promotion with body-shaming.

Her body is in bad shape, but she has such a positive attitude and personality. I'll rather hang out with her, but look like Jillian.
It's not comfortable being that obese. The chafing alone is maddening, and I've never been that fat. I hope she listens and loses a bit just for her overall health.
Otherwise, she's an inspiration for others like her to not feel as though you have to hide yourself away.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | January 18, 2020 2:10 AM |
She can't afford shit, R21 - she hasn't been around long enough to make any serious money. Everything she wears is given to her by thirsty designers (the big pattern, obviously) and anything else is from a record advance that she has to pay back. As fast as the appearance fees come in they go right back out. Like most singers she'll have to make her money from touring, but who in their right minds thinks this bitch can physically handle a 2-hour show?
