Bernie #1 in IA and NH Polls

Bernie is winning.

by Anonymousreply 214January 24, 2020 1:14 AM

He's also in second place among black voters in South Carolina, but I don't think folks here want to know about that.

by Anonymousreply 1January 6, 2020 12:10 AM

Fuck yeah, maybe the Democratic Party will hold its base this time!

by Anonymousreply 2January 6, 2020 12:15 AM

We'll see. Results can shift quickly in both states.

by Anonymousreply 3January 6, 2020 12:16 AM

I think Bernie could actually beat Trump in a landslide. Luckily, the media will try their hardest now to crush Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 4January 6, 2020 12:18 AM

It’s over.

by Anonymousreply 5January 6, 2020 1:52 AM

What if Bernie wins the Dem. primary then drops dead a few weeks before the election?

by Anonymousreply 6January 6, 2020 2:18 AM

If this refers to the CBS poll released today, Bernie, Biden and Pete are tied for the lead in Iowa and Bernie is ahead of Biden by two percentage points in NH.

by Anonymousreply 7January 6, 2020 2:29 AM

He is winning.

by Anonymousreply 8January 6, 2020 3:41 PM

He sure as hell won’t get this Democrat’s vote. I’ll stay home. Populism, regardless of which side of the political spectrum it comes from, is dangerous.

by Anonymousreply 9January 6, 2020 5:49 PM

In the end the Democratic establishment will rally around Biden, so Sanders will not be the nominee. However, at this point it looked as though he stands a good chance of coming in first in California which means that he'll probably be around through June, no early winner.

by Anonymousreply 10January 6, 2020 5:55 PM

I'm a proud Never Berner.

by Anonymousreply 11January 6, 2020 7:06 PM

R4, all Trump, or any republican, has to say -- and he will over and over -- is that America is not a Socialist country, and Bernie will be 'over'.

by Anonymousreply 12January 6, 2020 7:06 PM

if Bernie wins, we're all screwed. My sister and mother dislike Trump and would vote for Biden or Pete or Klobuchar, but they'll vote for Trump if Bernie is the democratic nominee.

by Anonymousreply 13January 6, 2020 7:21 PM

It's 100% on you guys this time if you fall for this again. I don't want to hear it.

by Anonymousreply 14January 6, 2020 9:57 PM

This is how Trump got elected. The vote was split among the classic republicans, which allowed Trump to win. Same thing is happening with Democrats. Biden and Pete will spit the vote while Bernie is consolidating the progressive vote as Warren continues to drop.

This is why clown car primaries aren't a good thing.

by Anonymousreply 15January 6, 2020 10:02 PM

Going through the rules have been established nominating process rather than just going with the front-runner in the polls before the thing starts is, indeed, quite a scary experience.

by Anonymousreply 16January 6, 2020 10:14 PM

R9/R11: You will vote for the Supreme Court and that is final.

by Anonymousreply 17January 6, 2020 10:25 PM

I will not vote for Bernie Sanders. My partner and I have decided to move to Canada if the winner is either Trump or Bernie. His grandfather was a Canadian citizen and apparently we can get citizenship because of that.

by Anonymousreply 18January 6, 2020 11:32 PM

Bernie has fecal incontinence.

by Anonymousreply 19January 6, 2020 11:52 PM

R18: You do understand that Canada is THE society that Sanders wants down here? So you're running away from him to the country he wants to build... You idiot.

by Anonymousreply 20January 7, 2020 12:22 AM

R20, I don’t care what he says about healthcare, which is what I assume you’re talking about. He has plenty of other pure populist ideas, which he knows can’t pay for or get through Congress, but he’ll continue promise and promise. It’s nothing but trickery and exploitation of class divisions and all of it straight out of Huey Long’s playbook. Fortunately for America, someone assassinated Long, and I wouldn’t shed a single tear if the same happened to Sanders. He’s dangerous and I’m not going to live in a country with either one of those fools leading it.

by Anonymousreply 21January 7, 2020 12:32 AM

Good

by Anonymousreply 22January 7, 2020 12:38 AM

Jan 5 CBS Poll Iowa - Biden, Sanders and Buttigieg all tied with 23 %.

Jan 5 CBS Poll NH - Sanders 27, Biden 25, Warren 18

Dec 31 Mason Dixon Poll Florida Biden 47 Trump 45 , all others Trump wins

Dec 31 Mason Dixon Poll Virginia Biden 49 Trump 45, all others Trump wins

by Anonymousreply 23January 7, 2020 12:44 AM

R21: OK, you're just a paranoid sick fuck who needs serious mental help.

by Anonymousreply 24January 7, 2020 12:53 AM

What polls? No one I know wants him to win.

by Anonymousreply 25January 7, 2020 1:08 AM

I’ll vote for him if he wins it, but I think he’s just having his time at front like the others did. Everything will revere to the mean, Biden.

by Anonymousreply 26January 7, 2020 1:15 AM

This is where Booker will make his move. I'm predicting a Booker/Steyer ticket.

by Anonymousreply 27January 7, 2020 1:27 AM

Booker/Steyer woukd be better than other combinations touted here.

by Anonymousreply 28January 7, 2020 1:36 AM

Got it R13 your sister and mother are very stupid. I am sorry for your burden.

by Anonymousreply 29January 7, 2020 1:39 AM

I'm another Never Bernie. I'll go to the polls to vote blue for every other race but I will never, ever vote for Bernie Sanders.

by Anonymousreply 30January 7, 2020 1:46 AM

Never Bernies, are you crazy? You need to vote for him if he is the nominee or we end up w madman Trump....

by Anonymousreply 31January 7, 2020 1:55 AM

R31: For people like that, it's a one way street. Those of us not supporting their candidate MUST vote for that candidate should they be nominated, but they won't return the favor. And the irony is, a lot of these very same people are screaming about how Sanders voters didn't vote for Hillary in 2016 (not true, but that's been done to death). And now they turn around and do the same thing they've spent 4 years accusing the people they hate of doing.

by Anonymousreply 32January 7, 2020 2:25 PM

OP, why post this here at all? You KNOW how these eldergays are going to react. Why troll?

by Anonymousreply 33January 7, 2020 2:35 PM

I will not vote for Bernie if he is the nominee, never. Anyone but Bernie I would vote for. So I hope he doesn't get the nomination.

I'm in California so I can not vote for him and I won't help Trump. I'm just not going to do it and take part in the bullshit he is slinging.

by Anonymousreply 34January 11, 2020 1:46 PM

r32, yeah, payback is a bitch.

I don't trust Bernie in the white house. He will get nothing done (can't get through congress) and will divide the country even further with socialism and he has a snowballs chance of winning in a general election.

by Anonymousreply 35January 11, 2020 1:48 PM

R33 Fuck them and their calcifies and fossilized brains.

by Anonymousreply 36January 11, 2020 1:50 PM

Bernie could definitely trump Trump. All Bernie has to do is select a good running mate.

by Anonymousreply 37January 11, 2020 1:59 PM

Bernie will never beat Trump. He would win two states. Biden won’t win either. Trump is getting four more years. Good economy, no war, Democrats looking nuts. Better luck in 2024. No more 80 year olds.

by Anonymousreply 38January 11, 2020 2:02 PM

People are tired. They need Medicare for all. They want to live in peace.

by Anonymousreply 39January 11, 2020 2:04 PM

Well, Sanders are Buttigieg are the only two who have any chance of pulling voters out of Trump's camp but... Sanders is way too old. He wouldn't live through his first admin. Plus, working class populism is not to the party establishment's tastes at all.

by Anonymousreply 40January 11, 2020 2:06 PM

Pete for running mate, they win, Bernie dies and Pete becomes POTUS...perfect!

by Anonymousreply 41January 11, 2020 2:18 PM

How many times do people need to be reminded that Sanders is Putins Democratic nominee ? WE DESERVE EVERY DAMN THING WE GET IF SANDERS IS ELECTED. It wont be pretty and Trump will look like FDR in comparison.

by Anonymousreply 42January 11, 2020 2:20 PM

Tired of the trolls pushing Bernie. The old geezer will not be the nominee. He’s not a Democrat.

by Anonymousreply 43January 11, 2020 2:38 PM

Another never Berner here. If he's the nominee I can't wait for the campaign donation request where I tell them I'll vote for Trump b/c of what he did in 2016. I'm in a blue state so I won't be helping Trump just voting against Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 44January 11, 2020 4:37 PM

R44 Don't forget all of the states that have passed National Popular Vote laws. They're mostly blue states.

If the popular vote goes to Trump their electoral votes automatically go to him regardless of their own state's vote.

by Anonymousreply 45January 11, 2020 8:35 PM

The Democratic Party is historically a progressive party. We will win with Bernie!

by Anonymousreply 46January 11, 2020 8:42 PM

R13: yes, let's base our political opinions on your family lol

by Anonymousreply 47January 11, 2020 8:48 PM

Now listen to me: Bernie has been the leading force in moving the country to a more progressive future - we'll have MCare for all/all who want it in the next decade.. In another time he might have made an excellent president. He is very likely NOT going to be elected when running against The Dump. Think about how fucking stupid half of this country is (stupid and venal in the case of most right wingers) and the misinformation that they so willingly suck up.. Bernie is not the best candidate against the Orange Shitman that is currently running things and America into the ground. Biden or Buttigieg - MAYBE Warren - have a much, much better chance.

by Anonymousreply 48January 11, 2020 8:57 PM

R47 neolibs on this site are terrified of Bernie, not because of what a Sanders Presidency may or may not accomplish, but simply because they're sad, hypocritical individuals that don't want their status quo upended when it serves them and them alone oh-so-well. I just tend to assume that they're mid-level managers in the banking, real estate, insurance, or "health care" industry. Their complete apoplexy makes me giddy.

by Anonymousreply 49January 11, 2020 9:06 PM
sister and mother dislike Trump and would vote for Biden or Pete or Klobuchar, but they'll vote for Trump if Bernie is the democratic nominee.

I feel the same. Will never vote for Slanders. I probably won’t vote for Trump, but will write in Pete or Amy if Bern is the nominee.

by Anonymousreply 50January 11, 2020 9:09 PM

I’m in Pennsylvania and will never vote for Sanders. He will never win any of the swing states, period. Therefore, he is unelectable.

by Anonymousreply 51January 11, 2020 9:10 PM

Good!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 52January 11, 2020 9:14 PM

Hmmm...

Voters who loathed Clinton should have voted for her because: Trump. But, Sanders-haters feel a second Trump term is OK?

by Anonymousreply 53January 11, 2020 9:14 PM

Good!

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 54January 11, 2020 9:15 PM

R45: Wrong. That compact doesn't take effect until enough states with 270 votes enter into it. We're not even close to that, so the previous system holds until that time. All the same, R44, is a filthy hypocrite. "My candidate didn't win because Sanders, so I'll vote for a literal Nazi." Yeah, buddy, you really care about getting rid of Trump (if you're real, which you're likely not).

by Anonymousreply 55January 11, 2020 9:15 PM

Hillary and Bill will not campaign for Sanders. Neither will the Obamas.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 56January 11, 2020 9:16 PM

He will never be the nominee. The DNC will broker and install someone else at the Convention. Sanders is unelectable. He could lose up to 48 states.

by Anonymousreply 57January 11, 2020 9:18 PM

R56 So they're de facto backing Trump.

by Anonymousreply 58January 11, 2020 9:19 PM

And he’s not a Democrat, so...

by Anonymousreply 59January 11, 2020 9:19 PM

Bernie has my vote, I think he's got the best chance to beat Trump. I'll hate my taxes increasing, but I want Trump out as the man is too unstable and no one will do anything about him.

by Anonymousreply 60January 11, 2020 9:22 PM

A Bernie nomination is an automatic Trump win and stop pulling Jessica Lange into this!

by Anonymousreply 61January 11, 2020 9:34 PM

Bernie’s an independent socialist crashing the democratic party and rearranging the furniture and then having a fit because he doesn’t belong in the house.

Bernie’s accomplished nothing as a senator. I can’t stand the sight of him. And Trump would beat him to another heart attack in a general. My choice is Pete and that’s it.

by Anonymousreply 62January 11, 2020 9:38 PM

Caucusing as a Dem for decades isn't "crashing" in my book.

by Anonymousreply 63January 11, 2020 9:53 PM

It is crashing or he would just be a Democrat. After he lost to Hillary he couldn’t wait to re-register again. Bernie is a fucking phony.

by Anonymousreply 64January 11, 2020 10:49 PM

Has Bernie ever explained why he is not "officially" a Dem?

by Anonymousreply 65January 11, 2020 11:54 PM

What I love is that at EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE WAY, DL elderqueens have een frothing at the mouth about how he'd never win, he's way behind, Mayor pete, blah blah blah.

NOW Bernie is ahead in the polls and Mayor Pete is in wine Cave ignominy. Hillaryesque cntrism is killing the Democratic party and STILL the eldergays throw tantrums.

So now we have primaries tolook forward to (and Bernie WILL win) and we will hear more about how, dammit, you all will never vote for him. And then?

He'll beat Trump and you will STILL be pitching hissy fits.

And the beauty of it all? Bernie won't care. He'll be as kind and decent to you as he is to everybody, no matter HOW stupid y'all are.

by Anonymousreply 66January 12, 2020 12:10 AM

Dear idiot ageist fucks.

Bernie is younger than Pelosi and Ginsburg. Should they both resign?

by Anonymousreply 67January 12, 2020 1:32 AM

Bernie = Trump second term

by Anonymousreply 68January 12, 2020 1:48 AM

Stamping your little feet and making statements like that R68 does not make them true. Even the dreadful media concedes that Bernie has the best odds against Trump.

by Anonymousreply 69January 12, 2020 9:06 AM

I can't believe people here saying they will never vote for Bernie. I don't like him much but if he's the nominee, I'll vote for him or any Democrat. I.want.Trump.out. This kind of thinking is why the Dems lose.

Bernie has a strong base and he actually appeal to the white working class in the Swing States better than Hilary could. There was a recent article about how his campaign fundraising has outranked Trump by a huge amount and if Warren drops out, it would consolidate it and be much more. Bernie can get out the younger people to vote. As far as the Black vote, if they want someone who can beat Trump.

by Anonymousreply 70January 12, 2020 9:30 AM

The thing is if they nominate Bernie then the Democrats deserve a second Trump term. It’s not my job to vote Bernie for their mistake.

by Anonymousreply 71January 12, 2020 10:10 AM

Okay, but is he presenting hole?

by Anonymousreply 72January 12, 2020 10:12 AM
Bernie has a strong base and he actually appeal to the white working class in the Swing States better than Hilary could.

No he does not. He has no appeal in the Swing States. His appeal is limited to a few liberal havens and college campuses.

by Anonymousreply 73January 12, 2020 11:08 AM

I don't like him because he's a misogynist. He wrote a rape essay and he is constantly wigging that finger in women's faces. It's disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 74January 12, 2020 11:25 AM

OP, what was the point of the gif? What made that necessary? It’s not even a good gif. It’s short as fuck and completely unremarkable. She hardly has any expression at all.

It’s so fucking cheesy.

by Anonymousreply 75January 12, 2020 12:56 PM

“Never Bernie” = Republicans Who Call Themselves Democrats

by Anonymousreply 76January 12, 2020 1:16 PM
he is constantly wigging that finger in women's faces.

Lol. He wigs his finger in everyone's faces, not just women.

by Anonymousreply 77January 12, 2020 1:31 PM

Yay!!!!!!!

free stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

by Anonymousreply 78January 12, 2020 1:35 PM
Now listen to me: Bernie has been the leading force in moving the country to a more progressive future

Now listen to me: Bernie has NEVER been the leading force in moving the country ANYWHERE!

FIFY!

by Anonymousreply 79January 12, 2020 1:44 PM

Sanders wrote a M4A bill back in 2008. What happened with it? Nothing. That should tell you something. His legislative record is not impressive.

Even Warren has accomplished more in a shorter amount of time just by spearheading the creation of the Consumer Protection Bureau. And I'm not a huge fan of hers to be President.

We need a Presidential candidate who has the stamina and energy to be a 2-term President as one term won't be nearly enough to erase the stench of Trump. Sanders is too old to be convincing as a 2-termer. Biden too, but I recall reading that he would be open to handing over the reins after one term.

Also once it becomes clear to voters that he can't deliver on his socialist paradise, he will be a 1-term President and we'll be back with the GOP fucking things up again.

by Anonymousreply 80January 12, 2020 2:13 PM

Why would the Democrats nominate an Independent Socialist? We already have a grifting Socialist in the WH. I won’t vote for Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 81January 12, 2020 2:17 PM

Bernie largely escapes criticism from other candidates. HRC was "soft" in criticism, and basically chose to ignore him when she could. That was a mistaken calculation.

In debates for 2020 and candidates on the trail, Bernie hasn't been substantively attacked, though he does have years of baggage, repeats talking points he's espoused for twenty years, and is the most "to the left" of those running. Biden has confronted him a little bit during debates, but it has been rather mild and sorta defensive.

Republicans have been "hands-off" somewhat on Bernie, thinking his entitlement ideas (and maybe age) make him very vulnerable.

If Bernie wins the Democratic nomination, the GOP/Fox machine will attack him viciously, and the "socialism" lable will stick. Democrats will not be united.

Bernie's recordbof fondness for Putin's Russia certainly needs scrutiny. He's a reliable vote/or skipping a vote, in NOT sanctioning Russia on anything. Tulsi Gabbard appears to be a plant. Bernie however, is an established opportunist who will play into Trump's hands as it did in 2016. Also, despite his disclaimers, Bernie has danced with the NRA, and his voting record is not so rosey about his claims to be a champion in combating Wall Street/big banking greed

by Anonymousreply 82January 12, 2020 2:26 PM

The "NRA" thing was one vote years ago. If he's so chummy with them, how does he earn a consistent D- (I think it is) rating of theirs?

It's funny, folks howl about circumstantial evidence regarding the Clintons' in the past as "nothing to see here" which is okay, but... at the same time, I see a lot of them trying to find "Russian connections" based on inferences and implications.

by Anonymousreply 83January 12, 2020 2:55 PM

Is this what you're voting for?

"Shadow Group sends Bernie and BLM supporters to disrupt Buttigieg events across the country:

The protesters say a "revolutionary group" financed them but not Sanders' Our Revolution and were ordered to keep the donor anonymous. Some claim to worry about racism and homelessness in South Bend but have not tried to meet with the new mayor about these issues, and instead flew to California to press Buttigieg. They vowed to follow Pete wherever he goes."

by Anonymousreply 84January 12, 2020 3:31 PM

R76 Call it whatever makes you feel better. Never Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 85January 12, 2020 3:46 PM

I like Bernie, but nominating him will be a replay of the McGovern Nixon contest. We'll always have Massachusetts and maybe add California. Any gay person who would vote for Trump or sit this one out if their candidate doesn't get the nomination should get the government they deserve.

by Anonymousreply 86January 12, 2020 3:50 PM

Bernie doesn’t “do” anything. He just gets up there and makes speeches about how everything should be free, and he wags that finger.

He has no plans of how to accomplish anything. And he’s never passed any meaningful legislation. That’s actually what he gets paid to do as a Senator...pass legislation. He’s a complete failure.

by Anonymousreply 87January 12, 2020 4:40 PM

Notice how the Bernie supporters never respond when asked to provide examples of anything Sanders has accomplished.

by Anonymousreply 88January 12, 2020 5:27 PM

R71 and R85: Then you two will NEVER complain about Donald Trump EVER AGAIN! You got that?

by Anonymousreply 89January 12, 2020 5:35 PM

r12 don't sell trump so short. he will also be very antisemitic in the process.

by Anonymousreply 90January 12, 2020 5:41 PM

Bernie has NO foreign policy chops, he just always pivots back to the billionaires and the 1%.

After the events of the last couple of weeks, I would think people might want a candidate that has a plan to deal with the rest of the world.

by Anonymousreply 91January 12, 2020 5:47 PM

Bernie needs to release more details about the tax raises he is going to implement.

by Anonymousreply 92January 12, 2020 6:10 PM

Bernie and Jane Sanders? They can shuffle to any Simon & Garfunkel tune they want, I am not impressed. I want Trump ousted, but also want a Democratic nominee I can be enthusiastic about.

Prefer Pete, will settle for Biden if need be. I like Bennet too, but he's going nowhere.

by Anonymousreply 93January 12, 2020 6:13 PM

So, I wonder who Bernie will pick for VP.

by Anonymousreply 94January 12, 2020 6:40 PM

You first Ms. Sarandon @ R89

by Anonymousreply 95January 12, 2020 7:20 PM

R95 Fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 96January 12, 2020 11:51 PM

Put your tits away Susan. No one wants to see that crepey décolletage!

by Anonymousreply 97January 12, 2020 11:56 PM

I just got this text:

Hi Brad! It's Jim with Bernie 2020. Bernie is committed to creating a government and an economy that work for all of us, not just wealthy campaign contributors. Are you in for Bernie?

My response:

I support Pete Buttigieg. I will only vote for a Democrat. Bernie is an independent socialist pretending to be a Democrat. Pass.

by Anonymousreply 98January 13, 2020 2:11 AM

Republicans don't care who is running for President or what kind of a person they are.

They will always vote for them in the end.

That's part of the reason why they win in a country with a popular vote that does not go in their direction.

Democrats on the other hand say things like, "If _____ gets nominated I will not vote for them!"

[bold]This[/bold] is the problem and [bold]people that think like that are part of the problem.[/bold]

by Anonymousreply 99January 13, 2020 4:44 AM

The two whitest, least-representative states have Bernie momentarily at the top. But it's a close race. Remember, primaries are not winner-take-all, delegates are apportioned proportionately to anyone who gets over 15% of the vote.

Look at where he's ranking in South Carolina though.

He's not going to win.

Sorry. Not sorry. He doesn't deserve to win.

by Anonymousreply 100January 13, 2020 5:31 AM

Bernie's electability argument is disproven by polls, really all of them
The two whitest, least-representative states have Bernie momentarily at the top. But it's a close race. Remember, primaries are not winner-take-all, delegates are apportioned proportionately to anyone who gets over 15% of the vote.

Thank you, it is important to remember that it is a close race along with margin of error.

The problem is, as people keep mentioning, once a candidate wins a race it can cause a shift. I think that's especially true with Sanders and Warren who are so close in ideology. They are both the other's supporter's second choice. If Bernie takes either or both states, Warren's supporters may shift towards him and that throws things up in the air again in some states.

by Anonymousreply 102January 13, 2020 5:57 AM

Bernie is not a Democrat, he is a socialist.

by Anonymousreply 103January 13, 2020 11:21 AM

R103 Bernie is a Social Democrat

Peter is a Republican in disguise

by Anonymousreply 104January 13, 2020 12:23 PM

I'm sick of all of them. We need a better candidate. We need a rock star.

by Anonymousreply 105January 13, 2020 1:07 PM

I will vote for whoever is the nominee. If you all believe Bernie is a bad candidate, it shows you haven't been paying attention. ANYONE is better than the dumpster fire that is Trump.

by Anonymousreply 106January 13, 2020 1:26 PM

I'm not surprised at people here hating on Bernie, but I am surprised they would be so peevish and short-sighted to believe he'd do any actual harm. RBG is nearing her end. Do you really want Dump and co. to choose the next SC Justice? Is Bernie that bad?

by Anonymousreply 107January 13, 2020 1:32 PM

R107, his policies are extremist.
Bernie is a Social Democrat

He’s a communist.

by Anonymousreply 109January 13, 2020 1:37 PM

Well, guess I got my non-answer from two trolls.

by Anonymousreply 110January 13, 2020 1:38 PM

I'm becoming convinced that folks are hating on him because he dared to challenge Clinton.

by Anonymousreply 111January 13, 2020 1:50 PM

I'd say that was pretty much it. Cue the 'they stole the list' bitches any minute now. BTW, a list they should have been provided with in the beginning.

I don't blame the Bernbots for their feels. I do blame the neo-libs for trying to scare people into believing the 'socialist' clap trap about Bernie.

I hope he gets the nomination. I'm going to love the juxtaposition of the Putin ass kissing of the right with the condemnation of Bernie's Moscow visit back in the day.

Personally, I'd rather see Steyer. If Bernie gets the nom, who do you think he'll take in as a VP? I'd love to see Mayor Pete.

by Anonymousreply 112January 13, 2020 1:59 PM

God, the Boomers taken as a whole really have just set fire to this country and are content to sit back and watch it burn.

But socialism! (while they happily benefit from the bazillion socialized aspects of our economy) They don't quite grasp that things like public education and public roads ARE socialism.

All of us under 40 should really just save ourselves the time, baste ourselves with Honey BBQ sauce, shove ourselves into ovens, and offer our flesh to them because that generation as a whole has been intent on cannibalizing us since we were born.

Ironically of course, the reason that Boomers have so much power is because of their large numbers. And the reason there are so many of them is because their parents benefited from all of the socialist programs introduced post WWII like the GI Bill, creating the baby boom.

by Anonymousreply 113January 13, 2020 3:14 PM

I'm a boomer, R113, but we're not the problem as a whole. Direct your ire, instead, to those people, regardless of age, investing in REIFs, refusing to divest from extraction industries, and more concerned with their 401K than the lives of their fellow Americans suffering from the continued callousness of policies that favor the rich over EVERYONE else.

Like someone upthread noted - now it's the Middle Class being targetted and who is there to defend them?

by Anonymousreply 114January 13, 2020 3:18 PM

The best ticket is going to be Biden and Klobuchar. He’s got the black vote locked down, and she can deliver the Midwest swing states. Trump won’t be able to beat them.

by Anonymousreply 115January 13, 2020 7:49 PM

Biden doesn't need Klobuchar to deliver the Midwest swing states.

by Anonymousreply 116January 13, 2020 11:33 PM

Biden needs someone exciting and young. Someone who uses a comb as cutlery doesn’t get him anything.

Bernie's not leading anymore:

Hours after a new poll in Iowa showed Biden leading by 6, a new poll shows Biden up by 4 in NH:

@JoeBiden: 26%

@BernieSanders: 22%

@ewarren: 18%

@PeteButtigieg: 7%

by Anonymousreply 123January 14, 2020 12:13 AM

Here's the latest Iowa Poll results:

Biden 24%

Sanders 18%

Buttigieg 17%

Warren 15%

Klobuchar 8%

by Anonymousreply 124January 14, 2020 12:15 AM

In years to come, Sanders will be viewed as a pariah that cost the party two elections to the likes of Donald Trump.

Stood in the road of Clinton and damaged her and again interfering in a party he doesn't even belong to and setting up another Trump victory.

His supporters are really akin to Trumps deplorables.

by Anonymousreply 125January 14, 2020 12:22 AM

Bernie was a Russian Stooge even before Trump got made. How is anyone falling for his crap? The Mueller Report detailed how the Russians/Cambridge Analytica directed their troll farms to support Sanders (and then Trump) and tear down everyone else. This is public domain information. The guy went to fucking Russia at the height of the Cold War to establish a "sister city" of his own volition. If it comes down to Sanders v. Trump, they may as well just put Putin on the ballot as the only candidate. Why are people so fucking stupid?

by Anonymousreply 126January 14, 2020 12:31 AM

I'm with R122. Don't stroke out just yet, this is a primary. We're supposed to have a good debate. None of the Democratic candidates are perfect and you can find something to criticize. Whoever is the eventual nominee, Trump and the RNC will be throwing everything at them.

We will come together behind our candidate because the alternative is unthinkable.

by Anonymousreply 127January 14, 2020 12:35 AM

by Anonymousreply 128January 14, 2020 12:39 AM

Something very similar said in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin not long ago.

by Anonymousreply 129January 14, 2020 12:41 AM

Then R128 you can never say a damn thing about Trump if he’s re-elected. Privileged cunt.

by Anonymousreply 130January 14, 2020 12:44 AM

R104 Pete is a Democrat in the vein of FDR, JFK, LBJ, and Obama. Bernie's just a Socialist.

by Anonymousreply 131January 14, 2020 1:03 AM

The white fuckers who voted for Trump will want what Bernie promises for themselves but when they realize Bernie also intends to give it to people of color they will again vote against their own interests and vote for Trump. I think our only hope is if Trump drops dead before the election. Maybe Nancy and Adam can aggravate him to death.

by Anonymousreply 132January 14, 2020 1:23 AM

No I can R130. My state will bright blue no matter who. I personally will be working against Bernie and voting against. Did you say anything against Trump 2016 Bro? I can too.

by Anonymousreply 133January 14, 2020 1:39 AM

Obama was shoved down all of oUr throats by SJWs in 2008. Now they view him as the devil incarnate. It’ll be hilarious to see how fast they turn on Bernie when they learn that the president has to put up with Congress.

by Anonymousreply 134January 14, 2020 1:51 AM

R114, you are way off. The SJW categorization didn’t really exist in 2008. Hillary has plenty of feminist supporters who insisted it was her turn and that a black man could not win. It was a diverse crowd - I canvassed with old white men in Pennsylvania. Obama was a breath of fresh air from Bush-Cheney and Clinton was bogged down by her vote for the war.

by Anonymousreply 135January 14, 2020 1:58 AM
In years to come, Sanders will be viewed as a pariah that cost the party two elections to the likes of Donald Trump.

He doesn't care. As long as he's able to line his pockets, that's all he cares about. And as for his supporters, they're already pariahs. They're all a bunch of incels and basement dwellers.

by Anonymousreply 136January 14, 2020 2:11 AM

So wait, I live in NY, a blue state. You mean my vote didn't really count and I didn't have to force myself to vote for Hillary? I could have written in anyone I wanted. Shit. I felt like a real hypocrite voting for someone I totally hated. Good to know. I don't have to force myself to vote for Biden. Good news. One way or the other I will vote for Warren.

by Anonymousreply 137January 14, 2020 2:21 AM

R134, SJWs are more likely to support Warren for the simple fact that she's a woman. Bernie doesn't attract the SJW crowd, his supporters are democrats that simply believe in real change. They dont like the identity politics stuff and neither does Bernie.

by Anonymousreply 138January 14, 2020 2:26 AM

I will so happily take Bernie or Warren. I want Warren more but I'll be thrilled with Bernie too. I wish either or both of them would do a speech about wanting to be called Liberal and how proud of it they'd be but they won't. There was a time when Democrats would boast about being a Liberal. Those were the days the Democrats were truly for the people, all the people and weren't whores for Wall Street, the insurance and pharm companies and lobbyists.

by Anonymousreply 139January 14, 2020 3:11 AM

You're wrong on that, r138. SJWs hate cis white women.

by Anonymousreply 140January 14, 2020 3:33 AM

R139, you realize Bernie supporters HATE Liberals, right?

by Anonymousreply 141January 14, 2020 4:29 AM

by Anonymousreply 144January 14, 2020 12:46 PM

NOBODY in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan wants Sanders on the ballot. The DNC better get their heads out of their asses and block him from being the nominee.

by Anonymousreply 145January 14, 2020 12:48 PM

Bernie has zero chance of winning. Period.

by Anonymousreply 146January 14, 2020 1:13 PM

R143 is on drugs of some kind.

Bernie will lose, and thank god for that, because he'd be a complete disaster.

by Anonymousreply 147January 14, 2020 2:21 PM

My fear is that Bernie is far more likely to win the nomination than he is to win the Presidency. The rigged system is giving him the chance to win a party he is not part of.

by Anonymousreply 148January 14, 2020 2:31 PM

R121, the support he has going into Iowa is no mistake and reflects a growing frustration with neo-liberal policies and attitudes. People are tired of appeasment with the Republicans. I cannot imagine any long-term Democrat hearing Biden say he'd choose a GOP running mate feeling comfortable with that.

My hope is that the Independent/leaning Democrat voter rejects Biden in the same way they rejected Hillary and votes for Bernie. He could win this.

And don't mistake my understanding of the Sander's campaign for blind support. I've worked in politics for many years. As much as former Hillary supporters hate the guy, he's got the organization on the ground to make some moves regarding the platform. If he doesn't make the cut, there will be a lot of jockeying for his supporters and their efforts in key areas. This assertion includes Biden.

by Anonymousreply 149January 14, 2020 2:31 PM

People like r149 need to be reminded from time to time that the alternative to moderate Democrats tends to be a coalition of Republicans that are ruled by their right wing. Bernie’s presidency is supposed to miraculously transform the country’s political geography, even though there is no evidence for this claim.

by Anonymousreply 150January 14, 2020 2:36 PM

What claim are you alluding to, R150? Bernie has operated in the Senate as an independent for quite some time. I'm sure a Sander's administration will reflect his experience and consist of a number of surprising, cross-party appointments.

Thanks, dear, but I don't need to be reminded of your delusion (you're pretty arrogant, btw). The GOP has outright stolen elections (Gore/moderate, Kerry/not so much) and suppressed voting to create the illusion that a more to the left Democrat would not appeal to Southern voters. This is sheer politial ignorance.

Watch the media and the ramping up of attacks on Bernie. They're afraid and for a very good reason.

by Anonymousreply 151January 14, 2020 2:42 PM

The only reason far-left candidates won’t win in the South is election manipulation, r151? Sure, all available evidence contradicts that claim, but why let something so trivial stop you?

by Anonymousreply 152January 14, 2020 2:51 PM

Right, Roy Moore/R152. How did that assumption work out for you?

by Anonymousreply 153January 14, 2020 2:54 PM

Doug Jones, the far left? Got it. He also barely squeaked out a win in an off-year election. But I am certain Bernie can deliver Alabama because magic is real!

It's ridiculous how many of you queens are upset by Sanders' alleged "socialism" when he's no further to the left than any ordinary post-WW2 welfare state capitalist. IOW, the system that produced huge gains for the middle class until it became more profitable for the rich to abandon the US and sent their money elsewhere.

Sanders' policy proposals end up about as leftist as Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon's were. You many like Sanders or not (I'm not a fan), but at least have a clue what his "leftism" actually represents.

by Anonymousreply 156January 14, 2020 3:10 PM

thanks for that, Tony.

The committees he sits on are hardly the big, sexy issues that people pay attention to. He's had two pieces of legislation signed into law, for the benefit of veterans, and has sponsored numerous others. This is pretty much how it works, btw. Few Senators or Congressmen/women instigate bills on their own. They're mostly done as a group.

Here's a look:

Issue Areas Sanders sponsors bills primarily in these issue areas:

Health (27%) Labor and Employment (20%) Taxation (16%) Finance and Financial Sector (9%) Government Operations and Politics (8%) Energy (8%) Social Welfare (6%) International Affairs (6%)

Recent Bills Some of Sanders’s most recently sponsored bills include...

S. 3159: No War Against Iran Act S. 2876: Green New Deal for Public Housing Act S. 2849: Tax Excessive CEO Pay Act of 2019 S. 2609: Universal School Meals Program Act of 2019 S.Con.Res. 22: A concurrent resolution expressing the sense of Congress that there is a climate ... S. 1947: College for All Act of 2019 S. 1773: Territories Health Equity Act of 2019

Finally, and this is the key to the 'electability' of Sanders - his running mate.

by Anonymousreply 157January 14, 2020 3:12 PM

govtrack.us is a great source for the truth about Sanders and his activities in the Senate

The same site makes a comparison of the 7 bills he had signed into law with the overall record of others and gives perspective. To claim he's a do-nothing Senator is silly.

by Anonymousreply 158January 14, 2020 3:15 PM

Tony, are you misquoting me? Why make it look like you're pulling a quote only to manipulate it?

Scared much?

I gave that example as a understanding of how we can beat them through good, old fashioned politicking' - get your feet on the ground, get your volunteers out there and beat their game-playing with a clearly directed message. Recognize who is affected most and hit them hard and consistently.

by Anonymousreply 164January 14, 2020 3:48 PM

by Anonymousreply 166January 14, 2020 4:31 PM

No, R166. Those people didn't vote for, nor do they care about, his character. They voted for, and care only about, the results he's produced (ITO). The policies he's either shut down or put into place.

He could set Barron and FLOTUS on fire, on the WH lawn and invite David Duke to roast Ballpark franks on their smoking corpses and he would keep the majority of their support because he gets the things done they want to see happen.

by Anonymousreply 167January 14, 2020 4:57 PM

Those of you who are screaming about Bernie or even Warren's Socialism would never have voted for FDR or LBJ and you would have joined the Reagan bandwagon screaming about Medicare being Socialism and how it would destroy this country or join those on the right in the 1930s screaming the same thing about Social Security.

Both Medicare and Social Security were, according to the right, supposed to bring about the end of America as we know it.

by Anonymousreply 168January 14, 2020 5:27 PM

During the primaries they said Bernie was catching up to her when in fact he was losing ground. Now, as we saw during the debates, they're out to get Bernie in 2020 the way they were out to get HRC in 2016, and the BernieBros are flipping their lids because it's not fair.

I'm fine with Bernie but I'm disappointed that Warren isn't doing better. I was for Bernie in 2016 however I think Warren has a better chance of implementing her policies if elected. She was really the candidate to beat there for a while. What happened? Oh well, I will happily vote for Bernie in a GE but not as happily as I would have voted for Warren.

I go to an office building for appointments that has Bernie's state campaign headquarters on the first floor. Where I go is unrelated. It's a nice suite and has been there maybe almost a year. Today, I saw volunteers streaming into that office. Most were student types and other younger adults. The people I saw were predominately black and female. As I was going to the elevator this young black guy, sashaying with purses dropping from his mouth, says "how are youuu?, I hope you are supporting Bernie and will be voting for him in the primary". I laughed but gently said "nope, I will vote for Pete Buttigieg". He said "have nice day" and turned away.
