Fraus are outraged over new Hallmark ad with two women kissing!

Last week, the Hallmark Channel, long a bastion of heteronormative holiday movies, announced that it would be open to making a Christmas movie that featured a same-sex couple, which sent conservatives spiraling. Now One Million Moms is calling for a boycott of the channel over an ad it ran for Zola wedding planning that features a lesbian wedding with a kiss.

In response to the ad, One Million Moms wrote:

“Please reconsider airing commercials with same-sex couples, and please do not add LGBT movies to the Hallmark Channel. Such content goes against Christian and conservative values that are important to your primary audience. You will lose viewers if you cave to the LBGT agenda.

“The Hallmark Channel has always been known for its family friendly movies. Even its commercials are usually safe for family viewing. But unfortunately, that is not the case anymore. Recently, One Million Moms received concerns about Hallmark airing a commercial from Zola.com in which two lesbians are shown kissing at the end of their wedding ceremony.” One Million Moms also called out the channel for being open to LGBTQ storylines in its movies.

“Conservative viewers will be disappointed to learn that Hallmark has ideas of moving beyond airing only commercials with LGBT content and is open to producing LGBT movies in the future. Shame on Hallmark for airing commercials with same-sex couples and even considering movies with LGBT content and lead characters.”

Then, the conservative group that has recently called for boycotts of Whole Foods for hosting a drag queen story hour, Mattel for its gender-inclusive doll line, Toy Story 4 for including a “lesbian scene," and Arthur for its depiction of a cartoon rat as gay.

“Now, parents can no longer trust Hallmark because Hallmark is no longer allowing parents to be the primary educators when it comes to sex and sexual morality,” One Million Moms wrote.

Watch the ad that has One Million Moms in a tizzy:

How are these cunts still a thing in 2019?

by Anonymousreply 1December 11, 2019 6:49 PM

The fraus have a point according to many DLers who tend to lean racist and bigoted. Don't you racist, white gays always say:

"PC culture is destroying the country" and "This is why Trump won" in your coddling of bigots and racists who vote GOP? Or do you think that only applies to non-whites being treated like human beings?

by Anonymousreply 2December 11, 2019 6:52 PM

Maybe One Million Moms watched all those shitty gay rom-coms on the Dekkoo Channel and didn't want the poor quality to rub off on Hallmark.

by Anonymousreply 3December 11, 2019 6:53 PM

R2 just made TOO MUCH SENSE for most DLers

by Anonymousreply 4December 11, 2019 6:53 PM

R4 - Stop commenting on your own posts. Sheesh.

by Anonymousreply 5December 11, 2019 6:55 PM

R2 Let's see there is One Million Moms, a fringe organization and then there is 99% of Twitter which is just as annoying and just as likely to hide behind their false virtue. I wonder which one is more influential.

by Anonymousreply 6December 11, 2019 6:55 PM

Why is there always some cunt in any thread who loves to bash on the DL and "other DLers"? Bitch, you're a DLer too, stop acting like you're a saint.

by Anonymousreply 7December 11, 2019 6:57 PM

Gay Christmas rom-coms...oh my.

by Anonymousreply 8December 11, 2019 6:58 PM

One Million Moms are also mostly ultra religious or stupid people, Twitter is supposed to be more enlightened and more educated. Yeah right.

by Anonymousreply 9December 11, 2019 6:58 PM

R8 for Gay Frauen

by Anonymousreply 10December 11, 2019 6:59 PM

How about the whole Hallmark channel go away? Problem solved. No one needs this bullshit programming.

by Anonymousreply 11December 11, 2019 7:01 PM

R6, just stop it. You guys will -for example- start a thread about some small, liberal arts college doing something "woke" and then start your bullshit about how it's the reason Trump won and you attach their behavior to every other liberal and then scream about "pc culture running amok." A lot of you lack introspection when it comes to this shit and you know it. The people who vote for Trump due to "woke" crap see something like this Hallmark ad as part of the problem and an impediment to their utopia.

Why certain gays don't get that they are not an exception to what is considered "pc culture" as they bitch about it, is beyond me.

by Anonymousreply 12December 11, 2019 7:02 PM

One Million Mom's is notorious for getting Disney Channel shows with gay representation wiped from the air. They still have power over the media, whether people want to believe it or not.

by Anonymousreply 13December 11, 2019 7:03 PM

One Dozen Moms

by Anonymousreply 14December 11, 2019 7:04 PM

R12 your problem is assuming every poster here is gay.

by Anonymousreply 15December 11, 2019 7:06 PM

I am more concerned with how ugly the suit is on the one on the right. Just awful.

by Anonymousreply 16December 11, 2019 7:06 PM

R12 "The people who vote for Trump due to "woke" crap see something like this Hallmark ad as part of the problem and an impediment to their utopia."

Thank you. The real obsession with "identity politics" is on the right. "One Million Moms" is about 20 people, tops (and probably lots of men), and their hate gets bullhorned over and over. Meanwhile the left can barely get a word in when it comes to political power and social influence.

by Anonymousreply 17December 11, 2019 7:07 PM

It don't bother me.

by Anonymousreply 18December 11, 2019 7:09 PM

So watch the godawful Dekkoo Channel. Problem solved.

by Anonymousreply 19December 11, 2019 7:09 PM

Hallmark channel knows what they're doing. Most people who watch the shit they show won't care. The loud assholes (The Dozen Frau) are going to drum up support for Hallmark from the left. No dumpy lonely girl is going to stop watching a woman like herself fall in love with a stud. Only a win for Hallmark.

by Anonymousreply 20December 11, 2019 7:09 PM

I love how gays think homophobia is a minority group.

by Anonymousreply 21December 11, 2019 7:13 PM

Fraus will totally love the gay storylines because there will be TWO handsome men, as well as their straight girlfriends (i.e., themselves) who at first don't like the new guy, but then come to love him.

Gays will watch it because of the hot guys and the lack of actual gay culture like Grindr or gym cruising, and women will watch it because they all secretly want a handsome gay best friend. Totally untapped market.

by Anonymousreply 22December 11, 2019 7:15 PM

And racist white gays will watch because it will inevitably be all white hot gay men that look like Ken Dolls and look alike.

by Anonymousreply 23December 11, 2019 7:20 PM

R23 you have a very cynical worldview. I pity you.

by Anonymousreply 24December 11, 2019 7:25 PM

Of course, the anti gay trolls hate it. And of course, the Dozen, or so, Moms pretend to be gay or gay allies and shit on pro gay programming like some alt-right trolls "I am a die hard Liberal, but the way Hillary handled her emails ...!".

And, OF COURSE, a sappy and cheesy TV channel like Hallmark is the absolute worst thing right now, because Christmas is supposed to be for anybody but the gays.

by Anonymousreply 25December 11, 2019 7:30 PM

These One Million (behind the curve of changed times) Moms need to get a clue already. Their "but but but traditional marriage!" battle cry is as tedious as it is futile. The future is already here, bitches. Catch the fuck up.

by Anonymousreply 27December 12, 2019 7:00 AM

Holemark

by Anonymousreply 28December 12, 2019 7:12 AM

Of COURSE Hallmark would have an ad with two women kissing, as it's easier to accept for the straight bigots than two men kissing.

by Anonymousreply 29December 12, 2019 3:16 PM

Sure, R29, because it's only beer-drinking, football watching, porn-consuming straight guys who watch the Hallmark channel.

On what planet do you think it's straight women who are into the lesbian thing?

by Anonymousreply 30December 12, 2019 4:35 PM

A huge majority of Hallmarks demographic is women.

by Anonymousreply 31December 12, 2019 5:19 PM

One Million Moms got the ads pulled

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 32December 15, 2019 12:49 AM

And, once Hallmark pulled the ads, the wedding planning company pulled all their advertising from Hallmark.

by Anonymousreply 33December 15, 2019 12:59 AM

Good for them. That's capitalism, R33.

by Anonymousreply 34December 15, 2019 1:02 AM

HallMark will do fine.

They know who their audience is. They shouldn’t have done this to begin with.

by Anonymousreply 35December 15, 2019 1:03 AM

Forty Frigid Cunts strike again.

by Anonymousreply 36December 15, 2019 1:04 AM
Of COURSE Hallmark would have an ad with two women kissing, as it's easier to accept for the straight bigots than two men kissing.

Exactly what I thought. And you can bet if they ever do have a gay Hallmark movie, it will be a lesbian movie instead of gay men, even though they have a sizeable gay male viewership (for some reason).

by Anonymousreply 37December 15, 2019 1:31 AM

I posted this on Yahoo about this article "Some of those million moms are going to have gay or lesbian children, sad that they don't want those children to have a happy life."

Some asshole responded "so make the few happy and oppress the masses?"

They actually think having gay people exist and live their lives is oppressing the masses, un-fucking believable.

by Anonymousreply 38December 15, 2019 1:34 AM

Most people think like them. I always say gays should stop believing the made up media.

by Anonymousreply 39December 15, 2019 1:59 AM

We’ve obviously made some significant progress. But we clearly have a long way to go.

by Anonymousreply 40December 15, 2019 2:03 AM

How do I block the Hallmark channel from my cable?

by Anonymousreply 41December 15, 2019 2:14 AM

We should all be writing to Hallmark and tell them how much we detest their stance.

That’s what Million Moms did and Hallmark acted

by Anonymousreply 42December 15, 2019 2:15 AM

Million Moms has a strong voice.

by Anonymousreply 43December 15, 2019 2:16 AM

For you people constantly whining about Twitter and "woke culture," #BoycottHallmark is trending.

by Anonymousreply 44December 15, 2019 2:16 AM

Hallmark will only get even more viewers now because of that trend

by Anonymousreply 45December 15, 2019 2:20 AM

No one in their right mind can sit through that 24 hour Thomas Kinkade shit, R45. No one.

by Anonymousreply 46December 15, 2019 2:46 AM

I've always liked the lesbians.

by Anonymousreply 47December 15, 2019 3:04 AM

The only thing that matters is how the "Hallmarkies" think.

That's the online name of the uber Hallmark fans. I'll bet they do the right thing!

by Anonymousreply 48December 15, 2019 4:53 AM
I posted this on Yahoo about this article

That's like knowingly lying down with dogs and complaining that you woke up covered in fleas.

by Anonymousreply 49December 15, 2019 4:57 AM

Lots of straight women are into m/m romance. Lots of straight women consume gay porn. I don't get why more companies aren't going for that audience.

by Anonymousreply 50December 15, 2019 11:50 AM

I just checked out One Million Moms website. Good God.

by Anonymousreply 51December 15, 2019 12:34 PM

One Million Moms == ten barren-wombed Karen Pence knockoffs, who’ve managed to achieve lesbian bed-death while being married to a male.

by Anonymousreply 52December 15, 2019 3:20 PM

Hell will freeze over before they make an ad like this about two men kissing. Two women kissing is more acceptable.

by Anonymousreply 53December 15, 2019 7:23 PM

I knew that line about Hallfart contemplating a gay Christmas special was total rubbish. This only proves how beholden they are to these Uberfraus.

by Anonymousreply 54December 15, 2019 9:15 PM

They can’t lose their audience r54. It’s not like if they start playing gay movies they will gain millions of new viewers. They know that. They will lose viewers.

by Anonymousreply 55December 15, 2019 10:31 PM

I'm sure Mayor Pete would consider it "virtue-signaling" if people boycotted Hallmark.

by Anonymousreply 56December 15, 2019 11:26 PM

Right, R56?

It's only virtue-signaling when liberals take any stance. Meanwhile, those dumbfucks on the right scream about boycotting Starbucks over cups and Gillette over ads, Nike over Colin K (literally setting fire to sneakers). Not a single one of those meaningless, loud attempts at virtue-signaling is ever mentioned by enablers like Pete and other "moderate" Dems.

by Anonymousreply 57December 16, 2019 12:15 AM

Funny you should mention Pete. He already has a tweet for this. (I'm not sure any other candidate has bothered with this issue.)
Families are built on love—no matter what they look like.

^^ Add r56 to the list of those eating crow.

by Anonymousreply 61December 16, 2019 1:02 AM

R60, actually, I'm not wrong. What he said was not targeted at homophobes the way he targets fellow liberals. It was some innocuous "love thy neighbor" crap. He reserves his vitriol for actual liberals.

by Anonymousreply 62December 16, 2019 1:04 AM

Most straights secretly think like those women, they just dont come out and say it . Otherwise , how would these harpies have the influence they seemingly have ? Ive said it over and over on here and was lamblasted for it , but here it goes again . Most straights secretly look down on you . Its going to get worse in the future , mark my words .

by Anonymousreply 63December 16, 2019 1:09 AM

R63 i say the same thing and get attacked.

by Anonymousreply 64December 16, 2019 1:10 AM

I quite like Mayor Pete's response. Dignified, to the point, but warm. Fuck Hallfart.

by Anonymousreply 65December 16, 2019 3:08 AM

r65 yes, we all must love everyone!

by Anonymousreply 66December 16, 2019 3:28 AM

They should be called One Million Bigoted Moms. They're disgusting.

by Anonymousreply 67December 16, 2019 3:35 AM

Yes, you're wrong, R62. Pete has no vitriol for anyone. He contrasts his positions with the other candidates, which is what someone running for president should do. It's the woke left who are insanely hateful toward him, especially the Bros. They concentrate on no one else (Biden and the rest get a pass). In fact, just today, a Bro running for Congress in TX said that Pete should be hanged for his position on M4A. Typical Bernie Bro.

by Anonymousreply 68December 16, 2019 3:37 AM

Sunday, December 15: Hallmark has reversed their decision, and will "reinstate" the ads.

by Anonymousreply 69December 16, 2019 3:42 AM

Why do any of you care???? You don’t watch the channel regardless

by Anonymousreply 70December 16, 2019 3:52 AM

R70 I'm man enough to admit I do. The Christmas specials may not be my go to, but there have been several shows I keep up with: Chesapeake Shores, and the Murder Mysteries. I've taken a liking to the witch series as of late too. You underestimate Hallfart's breadth.

by Anonymousreply 71December 16, 2019 4:05 AM
You don’t watch the channel regardless

That’s not really the point though, is it? This became an injustice aimed at the LGBTQ community. In the face of that, we don’t need to remain silent simply because some of us don’t watch the Hallmark channel.

The so-called “Million (sic) Moms” claimed that same-sex couples are second-class citizens who should be invisible. That kind of nonsensical thinking should be challenged wherever and whenever it occurs. It is insidious and quite dangerous to let that go unanswered.

Throughout history, the movement for civil and equal rights has relied on people not directly affected by the violations of those rights to stand up to bigotry and intolerance.

by Anonymousreply 72December 16, 2019 4:45 AM

Well said R72.

by Anonymousreply 73December 16, 2019 5:16 AM

Not well said.

If you’re gonna demand LGBT characters on a network whose audience is over 90% straight (and white) then you better be tuning in when they tune out. Otherwise all you did was fuck over a channel and put many out of work because you’re greedy and selfish.

by Anonymousreply 74December 16, 2019 2:21 PM

r74

The only ones being "greedy and selfish" are the bigots.

by Anonymousreply 75December 16, 2019 2:27 PM
If you’re gonna demand LGBT characters on a network whose audience is over 90% straight (and white) then you better be tuning in when they tune out. Otherwise all you did was fuck over a channel and put many out of work because you’re greedy and selfish.

🙄 Moving the goalposts. Supporting the businesses that do the right thing is an entirely different consideration from caring in the first place:
[bold] Why do any of you care???? [/bold] You don’t watch the channel regardless

Yes, of course, we should be supportive of businesses and organizations that support us especially in the face of opposition from intolerant haters. But, it is unlikely that bigots are going to have much of an impact here. They’ll fuss and complain, but Hallmark already made a swift business calculation that siding with the bigots was a far bigger problem than siding with the LGBTQ community. Plus, most of those fraus aren’t going to give up their ornaments or sappy movies because of a lesbian kiss.

by Anonymousreply 76December 16, 2019 4:12 PM

Haven't you watched TV news since last night? Hallmark has reversed their decision.

by Anonymousreply 77December 16, 2019 4:24 PM

Yes, R77, we know.

by Anonymousreply 78December 16, 2019 4:43 PM

Apparently large numbers of non frau women were equally upset with the pulling of the advert.

by Anonymousreply 79December 16, 2019 4:49 PM

Hallmark is just attempting to be “progressive”.

And as usual you all eat this nonsense up and believe the majority are on your side. It must be sad to be so naive at old age.

by Anonymousreply 80December 16, 2019 7:01 PM

R80 what got stuck up your cunt today?

by Anonymousreply 81December 16, 2019 8:23 PM

It’s just the truth

by Anonymousreply 82December 16, 2019 8:57 PM

r63 I feel ya. I work in Chicago and have to remind myself that just because most of my 20-30 something peers appear to be accepting, the trust is rarely shown at work. I have this 31 year old, hot as fuck coworker that was having a one-on-one conversation with another married co-worker from the burbs. While the hottie was always nice to me and everyone, I heard him talking about trying to move his young family out of IL because "It's just so liberal". He went on to say that he just couldn't handle it. I finished getting my drink from the bar and silently moved away, but it's always made me side-eye what he meant.

My manager is the same way. She's told me a couple of stories about her friends. They all sound like conservatives the way she describes them and my manager is married to a former marine so I always got a closet republican vibe about her.

Conservatives will smile in your face but stab you in the back at the ballot box. I respect the vocal liberals and conservatives, at least you know what you're getting. It's the fake, typically married bitches (male and female) that piss me off.

by Anonymousreply 83December 16, 2019 9:33 PM

Sorry you feel that way at work R3, I also live in Chicago, but don't feel oppressed by conservatives. I'm retired, and live in a hipster neighbourhood gone yuppie. Even spending much time in the suburbs lately with a boyfriend, I don't run into it.

I'd like to remind everyone that Hallmark isn't a religious organisation. They have a line of LGBT greeting cards, and were the first large company to launch "coming out" cards, almost two decades ago. They know their viewers include a large proportion of LGBT Americans. Theyalso get consistently high marks from GLAAD for being an inclusive employer, and good workplace. They initially made a false step, but ate correcting course

by Anonymousreply 84December 16, 2019 9:49 PM

^ first part for R83

by Anonymousreply 85December 16, 2019 9:50 PM

r83 here. Oh, I don't feel oppressed by them, but I truly appreciate your kind words! I just a nosy bitch that gets a hoot out catching them when their conservatism comes out. Again, everyone has been perfectly nice and never let my sexuality or race become a known issue. My Trump-voting friends from back home were also nice people, it doesn't mean I give there enabling asses the time of day anymore.

I agree with r63 when it comes to straight people's view of the LGBT community. It's like the, "Not in my back yard", or on my TV, type of situation. In theory, a majority support us, in the abstract, but unless but I think they'd also prefer to keep their television heterosexual and the term "Family Friendly" to mean straight. Especially, once they start reproducing. Gay and lesbian it still closely aligned with sex more so than relationship to many straight people. But things are getting better. r84, thanks for the Hallmark information!

by Anonymousreply 86December 16, 2019 10:02 PM

Cheers R86. I do get your point regarding backyards. Hallmark still needs to come a ways with a bit more diverse programming too. They're probably just getting their feet wet.

by Anonymousreply 87December 16, 2019 10:14 PM

Isnt this what LOGO was invented for ? Does anyone even bother watching or supporting them anymore ?

by Anonymousreply 88December 16, 2019 11:14 PM

r88

Logo canceled all of the shows I liked so stopped watching.

by Anonymousreply 89December 16, 2019 11:18 PM

It was r88, but like BET, one channel isn't enough. LOGO was created out of necessity, and for profit. Unfortunately, the profits were few and far in between which is why it no longer exists.

We aren't looking for separate but unequal. We aren't some aliens from deep space. We are regular couples that have been loyal customers to companies like Hallmark. Zola paid to have their product, which so happens to feature a same-sex couple taking part in marriage, a family-friendly ideal that aligns with Hallmark's brand. Hallmark accepted their money, so they needed to keep up their end of the contract and show the ad.

by Anonymousreply 90December 16, 2019 11:26 PM

Logo's awful because they edit the shit out of all the shows AND truncate them so they can shoehorn in more ads. All the Viacom properties do that - MTV as well. The shows get shorter and shorter and the ads longer and longer. So no one wants to watch it when you're just going to get heavily edited content and 500x more ads than you would on any other channel. They killed it themselves.

by Anonymousreply 91December 17, 2019 2:25 AM

Additional bad press for the network-
Hilarie Burton claims Hallmark fired her over inclusivity demands: 'The bigotry comes from the top' From her tweets:
“Just going through some old emails from a #Hallmark job I was “let go” from back in January. I had insisted on a LGBTQ character, an interracial couple and diverse casting. I was polite, direct and professional. But after the execs gave their notes on the script and NONE of my Requests were honored, I was told “take it or leave it”. I left it. And the paycheck. S----y being penalized for standing up for inclusivity. I really wanted that job. It was close to my house. It paid really well. It was about the military, which you all know I hold dear.”
“I'd walk away again in a heartbeat. The bigotry comes from the top and permeates the whole deal over there. I’ve been loudly cheering for @lifetimetv all year because they heard my concerns + RALLIED! You want inclusive Christmas magic?! We got it. Love is love🏳️‍🌈🎄💖 #receipts”

What infuriates me about the One Million Crampy Mom's demand is that they insist the commercial is not "family-friendly". I should be able to come up with a better way to respond to this, but I keep coming back to a simple and direct "Fuck you, bitches!"
