Best vocabulary of all time.

She's hilarious. I know people read Moira as parody, but she's really only a slight caricature of a certain type of LA woman. Catherine O'Hara nailed it!

The best mother a gay boy could ever have

O'Hara is very underrated

Who was the actress O'Hara replaced?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | December 11, 2019 3:10 AM |
R9, I had no idea there was going to be an alternate Moira actress?
by Anonymous | reply 10 | December 11, 2019 3:45 AM |
R9 I think you have Moira mixed up with Alexis. Originally, Abby Elliott was going to play Alexis, but she dropped out and was replaced with Annie Murphy. As far as I know Catherine O'Hara, a long time co-star of Eugene Levy, was always supposed to be Moira.

Catherine is great in the role but the show reached its expiration date around season 3. You can only milk the fish out of water scenario for so long.

R12 But, that is part of the charm, slowly the Roses have gone from being fish out of water to being truly a part of the town.

R12 the show keeps getting better especially with David’s romance
by Anonymous | reply 15 | December 11, 2019 7:31 AM |
She's one of the most iconic TV comedy characters of all time as far as I'm concerned!
by Anonymous | reply 16 | December 11, 2019 8:32 AM |
Moira, plus David's eyebrows, make the show.

and the Schitt boyfriends r17!
by Anonymous | reply 18 | December 11, 2019 10:32 AM |
R4 The thought of multiple Moiras around sounds a bit scary and unreal.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | December 11, 2019 10:49 AM |
I agree with R13. The show has improved with each season and I hope it ages well. O'Hara is a national treasure. Daniel isn't the best actor, but I find his facial expressions entertaining.

Bebe is all I need to hear her

R19, yes -- this type of older, fancy lady can be seen shopping at Bristol Farms or browsing at The Broad.

I quote her when I announce I'm going to bed at 8pm. "I've had enough waking hours for one day."

R16 I wholeheartedly agree. The funniest, quirkiest cast of characters that are quite lovable.

Has she won an Emmy for this? If not, why not?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | December 12, 2019 8:12 PM |
R25 she was nominated this year but didnt win.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | December 12, 2019 8:21 PM |
R26, thanks. Whoever won wasn't as good as Moira.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | December 12, 2019 8:23 PM |
R27 that lady from Fleabag won
by Anonymous | reply 28 | December 12, 2019 8:26 PM |
R28, I don't even know what that show is. See how irrelevant the winner is?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | December 12, 2019 8:27 PM |
r29 Oof, gurl, I wouldn't brag about that. 😬
by Anonymous | reply 30 | December 12, 2019 8:32 PM |
R30, OK, I googled her. She has an annoying face.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | December 12, 2019 8:34 PM |
I'm convinced that the writers must-read Datalounge, especially after the reference to Moira having once appeared in a made for TV movie with Joyce DeWitt called "Not Without My Cousin".
by Anonymous | reply 32 | December 24, 2019 12:37 AM |
She just snagged a SAG award nomination for best female performance in a comedy and the cast is nominated for best comedy ensemble. Just think back 20 years or so.... Chris Elliot nominated for a SAG award seemed about as likely as Donald Trump becoming president. Stranger things have happened.
