Snowflake Police Officer Identified as "Pig" On His Starbucks Order, Triggered

Teenage Barista Suspended.

by Anonymousreply 240December 6, 2019 7:31 PM

Since this was supposed to be a thank you gift to the police force from Starbucks, he absolutely should have reported this. That's not snowflake behavior at all.

OP, you're a garbage person.

by Anonymousreply 1November 30, 2019 7:30 PM

Not appropriate to do to anyone. Just put their fucking name down. Teenager should have been fired, not suspended.

by Anonymousreply 2November 30, 2019 7:30 PM

Good . That lesbian should have been be fired for this

by Anonymousreply 3November 30, 2019 7:31 PM

And this is why Trump will win overwhelmingly in 2020

Keep up the hatred libs..

by Anonymousreply 4November 30, 2019 7:32 PM

FFS you facists. If a police officer can't handle being called a pig, he shouldn't be given a firearm. The correct response to her would be to give her a talking to about manners.

by Anonymousreply 5November 30, 2019 7:33 PM

WaPo says that the barista was fired.

by Anonymousreply 6November 30, 2019 7:34 PM

r5 is a cop hating lesbian

by Anonymousreply 7November 30, 2019 7:35 PM

r5 is a cop hating lesbian

by Anonymousreply 8November 30, 2019 7:35 PM

R5, the barista was completely out of line--that is not professional behavior to randomly enter "pig" on someone's cup in place of their name. She doesn't need a talking to, she needs a new job if she isn't mature enough to behave appropriately.

by Anonymousreply 9November 30, 2019 7:35 PM

Trigglypuff at it again.

by Anonymousreply 10November 30, 2019 7:37 PM

Now that barista will sit at home and enjoy welfare like a true welfare queen

by Anonymousreply 11November 30, 2019 7:37 PM

The icing on this shit cake is the pig complains how it's "disrespectful to people working on Thanksgiving." Yeah, unlike the Starbucks baristas, who are not working at all on Thanksgiving day.

by Anonymousreply 12November 30, 2019 7:39 PM

R5 would love to have 'fag' written on his Starbucks and then have a civil discussion about manners.

You can't condone this behavior towards ANY customers ever. No paying customer deserves that treatment.

by Anonymousreply 13November 30, 2019 7:39 PM

Meh. The coffee was free. Get a sense of humor, piggly wiggly.

by Anonymousreply 14November 30, 2019 7:40 PM

R12, Don't you have shop to loot?

by Anonymousreply 15November 30, 2019 7:41 PM

R13, if this shitty barista happened to know that the cop was a corrupt douche who abuses his power, I would agree with what she did. But she choose to randomly put "pig" on his cup just because he's a cop, which is totally unprofessional.

by Anonymousreply 16November 30, 2019 7:42 PM

This is completely inappropriate and she should be fired.

This is a shitty example to use for it, OP, so you're not helping, but there is something to "snowflake / triggered" hypocrisy. For some reason the right is really good at coming up with insults to use against the left despite frequently displaying their own version of the same behavior.

by Anonymousreply 17November 30, 2019 7:43 PM

OP is a fag.

How do you feel, snowflake?

by Anonymousreply 18November 30, 2019 7:46 PM

If the cop had been black and the barista wrote “Darky”, what then?

If it had been female traffic enforcement agents wearing a headscarf, and the barista wrote “Pig”, would that be funny?

What kind of law enforcement is bad? What kind of mitigating circumstances make it bad to write an insult on a coffee cup, Op?

by Anonymousreply 19November 30, 2019 7:48 PM

R16 - as if baristas have done their research about abusive cops. No, it's never right - no one has the right to call any customer names. Ever.

You don't like a person? You can be cold or indifferent to them.

by Anonymousreply 20November 30, 2019 7:48 PM

R18, R19 are right

by Anonymousreply 21November 30, 2019 7:49 PM

What's kinda sad is that the beverages were for the town's dispatchers working on the holiday. So where is this barista's picture?

by Anonymousreply 22November 30, 2019 7:51 PM

No excuse for writing that. She’s someone’s employee and she got what she had coming.

by Anonymousreply 23November 30, 2019 7:51 PM

The bitch was fired. Apparently she reached out to the cop personally and said it was a joke, I guess in a pathetic attempt to save her own ass. Well, enjoy your unemployed holiday season, dear.

by Anonymousreply 24November 30, 2019 7:52 PM

I'm sick of "snowflake" and "triggered" being wheeled out all the time. They've both become completely overused insults. The barista should have been sacked rather than suspended.

by Anonymousreply 25November 30, 2019 7:53 PM
So where is this barista's picture?

by Anonymousreply 32November 30, 2019 7:59 PM

What a bunch of humorless bastards. I'm with R14. It may have been "unprofessional," but it's also hilarious.

by Anonymousreply 46November 30, 2019 8:14 PM

No one said the coffees were free from Starbucks. I believe the police chief was picking them up for his staff as a thank you to them for working on Thanksgiving.

by Anonymousreply 47November 30, 2019 8:14 PM

Datalounge is slipping. This is the kind of shit that would have us laughing our asses off years ago.

by Anonymousreply 48November 30, 2019 8:15 PM

This is completely awful and very insulting. I'm so disgusted she would call him a pig.

by Anonymousreply 49November 30, 2019 8:17 PM

He should have used his conflict-resolution skills on the barista and shot her.

by Anonymousreply 50November 30, 2019 8:17 PM

The ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender of both the police officer and the barista are irrelevant.  Civility, professionalism, respect and basic manners are all timeless and should be valued in our increasingly aggressive society.

by Anonymousreply 51November 30, 2019 8:18 PM

I'm laughing R48. I think that Fox news must be giving out links to DL.

by Anonymousreply 52November 30, 2019 8:18 PM

by Anonymousreply 53November 30, 2019 8:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 54November 30, 2019 8:19 PM

by Anonymousreply 55November 30, 2019 8:21 PM

by Anonymousreply 56November 30, 2019 8:21 PM

by Anonymousreply 58November 30, 2019 8:27 PM
[R39], that cop did not kill anybody

And yet this logic is never applied to other human beings. Like if a stabbing occurs on an entirely different continent, that somehow becomes the fault of the Muslim guy running a grocery store in Newark.

Do people like you -when you write that shit- ever think how you don't actually think this way when it comes to others?

by Anonymousreply 59November 30, 2019 8:31 PM

Anybody who would call a cop a "pig" is moronic on a grand scale. Truly stupid behavior.

by Anonymousreply 60November 30, 2019 8:35 PM

Why should a cop have to put up with hatred and bigotry? Their jobs are tough enough, they don't need shit from retards like that barista. If the n-word or an anti-semitic epithet were on the coffee cup there would understandably been an outcry over the bigotry. Calling a cop a "pig" is the same thing.

Considering how the pigs love to hunt down and murder blacks of all ages and sexes and classes, calling him a pig was too kind.

by Anonymousreply 109December 1, 2019 12:16 AM

So rather than find out why this Barista calls him a pig, and maybe take the opportunity to talk to him, he complains on facebook or twitter about how he was just getting coffee for hardworking 911 dispatchers on Thanksgiving, not mentioning that Barista was also working on thanksgiving, probably for 7.50 an hour, well not anymore since Mr. High and Mighty got him fired.
So rather than find out why this Barista calls him a pig,

by Anonymousreply 111December 1, 2019 12:23 AM

Why should anyone sympathise with a nasty, uncivilised, let alone unprofessional Barista, in light of the behaviour, just because she so happened to be working on a holiday? Does that mere trifling fact give everyone who must work a holiday shift licence to disparage and insult customers? Race and occupations are irrelevant.

There are far too many miserable people not equipped to work with the general public; they don't deserve these jobs.

by Anonymousreply 114December 1, 2019 12:37 AM

by Anonymousreply 115December 1, 2019 12:47 AM

Instead of racing to Twitter/Facebook/Instagram to summon outrage and public shaming, the policeman might have spoken to the Starbucks manager and to the barista about why this behavior is upsetting, hurtful, unprofessional and inappropriate. The barista might have retained her job, learned something and gained some respect for policeman. Starbucks would have handed out some free cups of coffee, and the policeman could have felt some pride in doing a little community outreach and strengthening the bonds of law enforcement with the local citizenry. Unfortunately the desire for attention and martyrdom runs so deep that, instead of taking a bad situation and turning it into something positive for the community, the policeman exacerbates the problem by arrogantly touting all the things they do for the community— and on a holiday, too!— and this is the thanks we get, whine, whine, whine. Great police work: You got free coffee, a dumb girl fired, and fifteen seconds of internet fame, none of which were at all important to improving relationships in the community you supposedly “protect and serve.” Congratulations.

by Anonymousreply 116December 1, 2019 12:48 AM

R116, ultimately it was the barista at fault, not the police officer. Yeah, posting on social media was attention seeking. But oh well. He didn't owe the barista anything after that happened. If the barista didn't realize that in 2019, the police officer would post that on social media, she is truly dumb and needs to get a different job. Clearly, maturity is not one of her strong points.

This is getting ridiculous I used to work for the state patrol in 1989. There was a running joke, “What’s a penny made out of?” Answer: Dirty Copper. We referred to them as pigs and they called themselves pigs. It was a joke. Are people becoming way too sensitive? Soon, we won’t even be able to open our mouths for fear we will offend someone.

by Anonymousreply 119December 1, 2019 12:57 AM

It's all about scoring points and #winning in this divided age, R116.

by Anonymousreply 120December 1, 2019 1:04 AM

People suggesting "why didn't he do x..." or suggesting other "overly positive solutions" mean well, but are sadly contributing to a pervasive culture which disconnects individuals from accountability for their poor choices, and bad behaviour. Many things which are unacceptable to people in my age group (51 here) and up are considered permissible now. This is to the detriment of society. Certain things, and certain people should not get a pass, or a second chance. Her losing her job ought to be a deterrent to the next schmuck who contemplates something similar.

Reconciliation, learning a lesson, etc is all well and good depending on the circumstances, but certain things justifiably get people fired. This is most definitely one of those scenarios. I'm not Anti-American, and love living in this country, but I cannot understand the tolerance for general unaccountability for bad behaviour. Standards must be upheld for civility, respect, and self-control.

by Anonymousreply 128December 1, 2019 1:48 AM

You are so right, R122. It would be too terrible if unacceptable behavior were addressed and resolved by the the two people involved so it never happens again, instead of by creating a frenzied national outcry and face-off by millions of people across the nation. Poor behavior must be punished, swiftly, severely, and irrevocably. We must choose sides in a fingerpointing battle, which is, after all, a much more effective response and will prevent further polarization.
[R59] Attacking Islamic ideology is not the same as attacking Muslims personally, especially those who are law abiding. Arguing that police officers should be held legally and professionally accountable for abusing their power is not the same as calling all police officers pigs. Get it now snowflake?

You're a fucking idiot beyond belief along with the rest of the myopic morons on here.

You have no fucking clue why INDIVIDUALS who happen to be Muslim do what they do anywhere on the planet, You just ASSUME they do it due to their "religious ideology". How in the hell do you even know that much? You see, the media doesn't actually do what they do when the killer is white: Get into his background, see if he had mental issues. Maybe lost a job. Did you ever know that one of the guys in France never even fucking prayed,he drank, did drugs, did prison and had psychological issues. ACTUAL psychological issues, not the made up shit reserved for white guys who go on killing sprees. So when you stupidly claim they did it due to "ideology," that's your lack of critical thinking and just going with the sheep when it comes to anyone who happened to be Muslim and kills someone. You just conclude they did it because of their religion as if they can't just be fucked up like some white guy. What about the religious Muslims who have professions and never hurt anyone. SO are they following an ideology?

You see, asshole, you think someone with a JOB where abuse of power is rampant is the same as Muslims -religious or not- getting shit for being who they are. Being a police officer is a JOB, not a race or religion or a color or a gender. It's a fucking j o b.

by Anonymousreply 131December 1, 2019 1:58 AM

The barista should have been fired. She's sending out a message that it isn't ok for "that type of person" to be allowed in their stores.

by Anonymousreply 132December 1, 2019 1:58 AM
not mentioning that Barista was also working on thanksgiving, probably for 7.50 an hour,

Starbucks pays better than that on regular days, and on a holiday they would be required by law to pay time and a half.

Stop making stupid shit up for cheap dramatic effect.

by Anonymousreply 133December 1, 2019 2:00 AM

If you're going to behave badly to customers, and you get caught doing so, expect to get fired.

The End.

R134 is correct

I’m sorry the daughter has a bad dad but it’s irrelevant

by Anonymousreply 136December 1, 2019 2:05 AM

The same people defending this guy even after the daughter confirms what he is, are the same people who'd want him dead if he merely made gay jokes.

by Anonymousreply 137December 1, 2019 2:12 AM

Datalounge loves cops, R137! I don't know how many times that has to be repeated.

I think the "daughter" sounds fake. I mean, calling the so-called "a fame whore?" I think the whole daughter thing sound bogus. But if it's not, she's the one who's like a whore, in more ways than one.

by Anonymousreply 140December 1, 2019 2:19 AM

R140, and yet you believe everything that absolves the cop without knowing a fucking thing about him beyond a cup with "pig" on it.

by Anonymousreply 141December 1, 2019 2:21 AM

And if he's an asshole, she has every right to call him out. What she did was confirm that the description was apt. Tough shit if you don't like it, snowflake. Let him sue his "fake" daughter if she's lying.

by Anonymousreply 142December 1, 2019 2:23 AM

Why take the time to find out why the barista called uses the term pig? Because it is a teaching moment. If you just ask the person why they felt the need to do that. Maybe they have bad experiences with Police, random stops, stop and frisks etc. Just talk to the other person, it's not that fucking hard. Instead, he gets to be indignant and fire up the right-wing base about how no one respects hardworking police on thanksgiving. Oh and PS the average pay per hour is 8-10 dollars an hour for a barista. The average pay for a police officer in Keifer OK (where he is from) is 50K. He too was probably making time and a half or double time for working a holiday.

by Anonymousreply 143December 1, 2019 2:23 AM

R143, and they don't want to hear that his own daughter is confirming what he really is and they don't want that heard. Meanwhile, you see early in this thread "Is she black??? Is the barista black???" The race of the barista is apparently pertinent, but the cop's own daughter saying exactly what he is is simply ghaaastly.

So we're not allowed to hear from his own daughter, but these same assholes want to merely know the race of the barista so they can go off about black people.

by Anonymousreply 144December 1, 2019 2:26 AM

Typical - he posts this in response to PIG -

“What irks me is the absolute and total disrespect for a police officer who, instead of being home with his family and enjoying a meal and a football game, is patrolling his little town,” he said in the post, which was widely circulated and has since been taken down.

Then when he is told that Starbucks fired the Barista - he asks them to reconsider and for civility in the matter.

by Anonymousreply 145December 1, 2019 2:29 AM

"And if he's an asshole, she has every right to call him out. What she did was confirm that the description was apt. Tough shit if you don't like it, snowflake. "

R129 I Think it's a great personal achievement for two people to settle their differences privately, and amicably. That wasn't what my post was about. The fundamental element you fail to grasp is that this didn't happen on the pavement, between two unrelated passers by on their own time. One is in uniform, paying for coffee as a customer, and the other is in her apron, working. This involved someone representing a business, on the job, serving the public.

Whether the officer's character is up for examination, or not, it isn't the job of a Barista to decide who is worthy of dignity and respect as a paying customer. According to the linked article, he was not guilty of any bad behaviour to provoke such rude treatment. She isn't paid to assess the moral fibre or "wokeness" of police officers, or anyone else for that matter. She's paid to take the orders, make the coffeees, and take the payment. It is implied she is paid to be civil and nice as well. It's also not a stretch to expect her to be friendly as well.

She was surly, out of line, and unprofessional. She's not worthy of defending.

by Anonymousreply 152December 1, 2019 2:42 AM

R151, I've seen your other posts. You're deranged and an absolute clown screaming about "bigotry" towards cops. Bigotry? And screaming "retarded."

You're a fucking loser. "Cop" isn't a religion or a sexual orientation, imbecile. It's a JOB. I hate dentists...I must be an "anti-dentite" like Kramer says.

Here's one definition of bigotry: obstinate or intolerant devotion to one's own opinions and prejudices. There are some idiots who believe that ALL cops are bloodthirsty, violent individuals. To paint an entire group of diverse people with the same nasty brush is, indeed, bigotry. You're just too stupid to realize that.

And you're laughing at ME? Honey, my sides are splitting at your idiocy. I do feel sorry for you, though. You're a loser, as bigots tend to be. I pity you, drowning in your hatred and ignorance. You. Poor. Thing.

Apparently the barista involved reached out to the officer at some point before it went viral and apologized.

“Thugs with badges” is my favorite. I have no more real respect for them than I do a cashier at McDonald’s. The cashier at McDonald’s can’t shoot me, though, and get away with it and be praised as a hero afterwards even if I was just handing him my credit card.

I believe that the war on drugs has totally corrupted the mission of our Police Department. Instead of serving and protecting, it is now intimidation and aggression.

Right. Tell you what, asshole. When someone burns down numerous police stations or sets a burning cross in front for being a "cop" or anything like that, get back to me - that's what bigotry actually is. Your anger is clearly based in no one wanting that putrid hole of yours.

You're foaming at the mouth in your obsession to worship law enforcement to the point you called his daughter a drugged-out whore for calling him out. You are a genuinely deranged individual. In fact, early on, I said the barista had no business doing that, but I believe the daughter. He's a middle-aged white cop in Oklahoma...I'm pretty sure she's spot on in her assessment of her own father who you know nothing about, but pretend you know more than her. I only wish you were made to bet your life that she's lying about who he is.

R145

And that is exactly what should have happened. He should have returned to the restaurant, sat down with the management and the employee and expressed his dissatisfaction, and ask her to be more open minded.

If he had taken that tact, it would have radically changed her perception of the average cop.

Nobody looks good in this shit storm.

I do not like cops, but every interaction that I have ever had with one has been positive. Even the night I actually got arrested for “disorderly conduct”, all of the cops involved were professional.

I love you, R158

by Anonymousreply 161December 1, 2019 2:57 AM

Worship and blind allegiance of law enforcement is a sign of fascism. Ditto military. This is where patriotism crosses over into nationalism. People putting up “we support the police” signs and “blue lives matter” flags to signal their loyalty and submission to armed, jack-booted agents of the state; this is not normal. We didn’t do these things 20 years ago. Now we have people with signs, t-shirts, baseball caps, bumper stickers, broadcasting their membership in the cult of cop worship, and “law and order” at any cost.

Our country is sick.

Oh. So he's a "middle-aged white cop in Oklahoma?" So that makes him a monster, huh? That view is pretty, well, bigoted. And you're "pretty sure she's spot on in her assessment of her own father who you know nothing about." Sweetie pie, YOU know NOTHING about the man (or the daughter), yet you believe that daughter's "assessment" of him is "spot on?" Do have any idea how biased and stupid and moronic that makes you look? You don't know what the fuck you're talking about. You're just making assumptions, and since you're a deranged cop hater, you "believe the daughter." You're pitiful.

R163, eh. I didn't even bother reading beyond a few lines. I've grown bored of you and your obvious cop fetish. They don't want to fuck you, but you desperately defend them.

I get that you want to believe people like me "hate" cops, but I don't. I'm a law-abiding citizen who understands why many people dislike them. And yes, I believe his daughter. As you believe she's a whore because her father you know nothing about is worthy of your drooling defense.

Sweetie, you reacted to his daughter in defense of her father who you know nothing about in a way that isn't remotely normal. Your reaction merely revealed the psychotic level of anger ingrained in the types of people who blindly defend law enforcement. No matter what you say, you are in fact abnormal in how you've reacted. Even her "nose ring" was enough for you not to believe her. You are in fact quite scary in how angry you've gotten...at his daughter.

BTW, what's even sadder is that I don't doubt that you haven't the capacity to feel compassion for people who are constantly victimized for their religion or their race or whatever else that isn't a fucking job. On the contrary, you undoubtedly say vile things about people for their religion or race or whatever. No one who defends cops the way you have in this thread is truly an open-minded person. You're clearly an asshole who is fine when people suffer at the hands of actual bigots. You participate in it. I have no doubt about that.

It's darkly hilarious but also extremely off-putting how immature and divorced from reality they are.

R110

Starbucks baristas do not make $7.50/hour. They also have decent benefits compared to most service workers, and they were almost definitely making overtime on Thanksgiving. A lot of service workers are happy to have work on federal holidays because they want the extra money.

by Anonymousreply 192December 1, 2019 5:49 AM

Nov. 30, 2019 An Oklahoma police officer working on Thanksgiving made a Starbucks run for emergency dispatchers to thank them for working during the holiday. When he got his order, he said, he saw the word “PIG” printed on a cup’s label.

The officer, a member of the Kiefer, Okla., police department, took the order to the dispatchers and contacted the police chief, Johnny O’Mara, who was on vacation at the time, according to Jory Mendes, a Starbucks spokesman.

The word “PIG” was printed on all five cups, KTUL-TV reported. When Chief O’Mara called the Starbucks, in Glenpool, Okla., the manager offered to reprint the cups, which the chief said was an insufficient apology, the station reported.

The officer told the station that the barista contacted him, apologized and said it was meant as a joke.

Chief O’Mara posted about the episode on Facebook, including an image of one of the cups, prompting Starbucks to investigate. He did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Saturday.

“What irks me is the absolute and total disrespect for a police officer who, instead of being home with his family and enjoying a meal and a football game, is patrolling his little town,” he said in the post, which was widely circulated and has since been taken down.

Kiefer, which is about 20 miles south of Tulsa, has a population of fewer than 2,000.

Despite speculation on social media that the officer was responsible for the word on the label, a Starbucks statement expressly said that the barista “wrote this offensive word,” used “poor judgment” and was ultimately fired for violating company policy.

“This language is offensive to all law enforcement and is not representative of the deep appreciation we have for police officers who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe,” Mr. Mendes said.

After hearing about the barista’s firing, Chief O’Mara, in an interview on Friday on Fox News, called for Starbucks to reconsider.

“I’m asking for civility here,” he said. “Starbucks is working very well with me and my department, and we’re hoping we can take this moment, where a mistake was made, and turn it into something that highlights the ability to be civil to one another.”

Starbucks and the Kiefer Police Department plan to host a “Coffee With a Cop” event, in which local law enforcement can meet with baristas to discuss the role that dispatchers and officers play in keeping communities safe, according to a joint statement issued on Friday.

Starbucks also said it would work with law enforcement agencies to educate its employees nationwide and promote understanding and respect.

This is not the first time Starbucks has apologized on behalf of its baristas.

In July, a Starbucks barista in Arizona asked six police officers to move out of an anxious customer’s line of sight or to leave. The officers left the coffeehouse, and Starbucks later apologized for making the officers feel “unwelcome and disrespected.”

In May 2018, Starbucks closed more than 8,000 stores in the United States for one day to conduct anti-bias training after two black men were arrested after asking to use the restroom without buying anything at one of its Philadelphia stores. The company later apologized to the two men.

I agree. The chief's complaints are dumb, he and the other cops go in knowing that there is always a chance they will have to work holidays. I have a friend who is a nurse and her late husband was a paramedic in the past they would get annoyed at people who would feel sorry for them because they sometimes have/had to work holidays. They both said it was what they signed for and also my friend grew up in a very dysfunctional household and she said the holidays were always miserable. So as an adult she said working sometimes on holidays was good because she would focus on work and not thinking about the past.

Lots of people work holidays. Baristas, for one. Store clerks at all kinds of stores that stay open work holidays, like convenience stores or gas stations. Hospitals need janitors, security and cafeteria staff. Airports and transit hubs, TV and radio stations, even web support and call centers, all staff people on holidays. Cops are not special in this or any regard. They get hazard pay, massive overtime, and great benefits, and their families are taken care of in case of death in the line of duty. Someone does it to a cop and suddenly it's the worst crime ever to have been committed and how DARE this teenager even be allowed in public!

Thankfully not everyone immediately bought this story, and the cop's sketchy comments on Facebook, which he's since deleted, are more than a little curious.

"People don't deserve respect just because they coughed up $25 for some coffees " what planet are YOU from ? People deserve respect always. I bet youre a flaming asshole in life with zero friends.

by Anonymousreply 206December 2, 2019 3:37 PM
This is the kind of shit that would have us laughing our asses off years ago.

I knew Datalounge was basically gone when someone started multiple threads about whether cops should be at Pride parades, and we were spammed with "gays" saying cops were our protectors and no gays had been hassled by cops since the 1980s, and even then they probably deserved it. They were particularly bad in the threads about the Toronto serial killer who targeted gays and whom the police did nothing about for years.
I bet youre a flaming asshole in life with zero friends.

You're posting racist dogwhistles and fantasies about the cop beating this teenager's face in (a.k.a. far-right hetero wankfic) and you clearly don't know what an apostrophe is. Nobody takes anything you say seriously.

Some people have posted here that 20 years ago, Americans wouldn't post signs on their lawns saying "Blue Lives Matter" and "protect cops", etc. Think of people in the 60s and 70s--They may not have posted signs on their lawn but a large proportion of them were overwhelmingly pro-police state. When the Kent State massacre happened, the families of the deceased (whose children did nothing wrong) received mail from people, mainly telling them that their kids were communists and deserved to die. And according to polls at the time, most Americans felt it was the students who were at fault! So to act like this pro-police state mentality is a new one isn't true. It has been in our society for a long time, it's just now with social media that we see how widespread those beliefs are.

by Anonymousreply 210December 2, 2019 5:13 PM

You’re correct, R210, but the points I made still stand: 20 years ago people didn’t broadcast their fascist tendencies so openly. White supremacy has always been a stain on this country, but now it’s mainstream and normalized again. The right wingers of the 60s and 70s kept their views hidden in private letters or anonymous phone calls; if they did something public, they were dismissed as crazy cranks. They didn’t hang signs in their windows or wear t-shirts that said the Kent State kids deserved it. Today they would. Not arguing with any of your points really; you’re especially correct about the role social media played in all of this. Things [italic]have[/italic] changed, which was my point.

Fascism happens slowly; things change incrementally and the new changes are given time to “normalize” before the next evolution. Today we deport undocumented parents and keep their kids in cages. Next we’ll be openly trafficking them. We’re already distributing some of them legally through foster care. Anyone could argue that xenophobia, anti-Latino racism, and child abuse all existed for a long time before this, and they would be right. It’s still worth noting and raising the alarm every time we inch a little closer to history’s worst atrocities.

by Anonymousreply 211December 2, 2019 5:27 PM

R211, great points. I think the reason this right-wing nationalism has taken off is because, deep down, these deplorables know they have no future and there death is coming sooner than they think. Those mining and manufacturing jobs they got with just a high school degree are never coming back. They want to pretend like its still the 50s, where manufacturing jobs were plentiful because America was the only major western country that wasn't destroyed by the war. That time is never coming back, America needs to be competitive and their lazy asses won't cut it. When they see these minorities and other groups attain success, it triggers them because they are jealous and they see what they used to have. Adios deplorables!

People are just too sensitive nowadays. This idiot posts about having his cup put on Ugly Sweater on his Starbucks cup by employees. When he did have on an ugly sweater

"Fuck cops."

Fuck YOU, you ignorant freak. Cops put their lives on the line. They're kicked, punched, spat on, shot at. They're singled out as the enemy and they're shot simply because they wear a blue uniform. It's sickening to hear mental defectives like you spewing idiotic venom about men and women who risk their own safety to protect others. Do what THEY do, and see how easy and cushy as job it is, dumbfuck.

by Anonymousreply 214December 2, 2019 8:53 PM

"How do I know your cop friend didn't stick a broom handle up someone's ass?"

You're deranged. A deranged cop hater. Do get some help. You sorely need it.

Democrats have embraced the police state with a zeal that should disturb anyone who calls themselves a liberal.

by Anonymousreply 216December 3, 2019 1:42 AM

A person who is not foolish will follow the directions of a police officer. They are there to enforce the law. But respect them? That needs to be earned.

by Anonymousreply 217December 3, 2019 1:34 PM

A new wrinkle:

Apparently only Starbucks mobile orders have the names on the labels computer-printed using information provided by the customer, while non-mobile orders have the names handwritten.

So he entered his name as "Pig" when filling out his mobile order??

by Anonymousreply 219December 3, 2019 7:30 PM

If he entered the name himself, why did the barista take the fall?

by Anonymousreply 220December 3, 2019 7:39 PM

Pretty hilarious to watch the cop worshipper have a meltdown over a nose ring. What year is this? 1993?

Also it doesn’t help your case that you claim to hate “bigotry” but call everyone who disagrees with you “retarded.” Uh, we don’t use that word like that anymore, dear. Again: what year is it?

by Anonymousreply 221December 3, 2019 7:52 PM

A manager of the Oklahoma Starbucks where a cop received an order labeled “Pig” says she was wrongfully fired because the coffee chain was “looking for someone to take the blame,” according to a report.

Lola Price, who worked at the Glenpool location, said she wasn’t the one who wrote the insult on five coffees ordered by a local officer on Thanksgiving, news station KTUL reported.

“I was terminated from my position because, Starbucks was looking for someone to take the blame for this and to save some face from their company,” she told the outlet.

Price said that she tried to make the situation right with the officer before he left the store.

“He laughed it off, said it was cool,” Price said. “I handed him his blueberry muffin and I went back off the floor to continue doing my shift manager duties.”

But later, another officer, Kiefer Chief of Police Johnny O’Mara, wrote on Facebook about his colleague’s coffee run.

“What irks me is the absolute and total disrespect for a police officer who, instead of being home with family and enjoying a meal and a football game, is patrolling his little town,” O’Mara said in the post.

His post went viral and prompted Starbucks to fire the employee who printed the labels — and also drew a response from a woman claiming to be O’Mara’s daughter, who said he “absolutely” is a pig.

“The Starbucks partner who wrote this offensive word on a cup used poor judgement and is no longer a partner after this violation of company policy,” the company said in a statement.

The statement, however, doesn’t make any mention of Price’s termination.

She said she received a call Thursday evening from her supervisors informing her that she was being fired.

“They, to make it seem like they were right on top of everything, which they are … they terminated me from my position with no cause,” Price told KTUL.

The coffee chain didn’t respond to a request for comment, the report said.

by Anonymousreply 230December 5, 2019 2:22 AM

Nobody cares that Starbucks is trying to bribe police officers with free coffee? This is basic corruption people, or did you all not watch "The Big Easy" back in the day. Police officers should not accept gifts from the public, period.

by Anonymousreply 231December 5, 2019 2:30 AM

So the truth really comes out. The cop who picked it up thought it was funny, when the Starbucks manager found out she apologized but he said it was cool, he thought it was funny. The cop who posted it was not that Cop. That guy posted it with his Snowflake indignation and lit a firestorm. He not only got the barista fired, which sure she did it, but the manager was also fired proving the power of the vitriol of the Trump nation.

by Anonymousreply 232December 5, 2019 2:41 AM

I still don't get why the barista and the store manager were fired if the cop put the word into the automated system himself.

by Anonymousreply 233December 5, 2019 2:43 AM

LOL, R231.

r233 he didn't that is a false narrative. The barista did it as a joke with the cop, the cop thought it was funny and no big deal, the manager saw it and offered to remake the whole order without it, the cop laughed it off said it was fine, then all this shit happened because of the other snowflake cop who got all indignant about disrespecting police and hard-working dispatcher who would rather be home with their families than working - (not, you know, the people who work at Starbucks, fuck them I want my latte on thanksgiving).
