What is your favorite Christmas song? (And favorite version of that song?)

I love “White Christmas”, but the Michael Buble and Shania Twain version. I can’t go this season without hearing that song. It’s one of my absolute favorites!!!

It is probably the Christmas song I hear most every season, besides “All I Want For Christmas Is You” By Mariah, but that one is not by choice. You can’t escape that song during Christmas time.

I'm kind of weird about Christmas music, I don't care all that much for current stuff, as I always feel a deep nostalgia for days gone by. The Nutcracker Suite from start to finish like another poster wrote is right up there for me,

Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson is just about perfect though. It's lively and captures the excitement of Christmas to me perfectly. I am not a huge fan of country, but Kacey Musgraves put out a Christmas album a few years ago. I like her voice and quirky choices from that whole album.

One song that has always bothered me is "There's No Place Like Home For the Holiday" by Perry Como, where he sings about "Granny's pumpkin pie."

I'm sorry, but nobody eats pumpkin pie at Christmas. Pumpkin pie is strictly a Thanksgiving thing. Contemporary singers need to change the lyrics of this song in the same way that they're currently changing the lyrics for "Baby, It's Cold Outside."

I think my mom has made a Pumpkin Pie for Christmas... maybe. I know she makes it every Thanksgiving

Glad someone mentioned "Fairytale of New York." As someone who was always a sucker for the season, this, to me, is one of the most beautiful songs of the season.

Frank Sinatra's entire Christmas album contain all the definitive Christmas versions if you ask me. All the remakes of those songs are either ruined by oversinging or bad production.

My favorite pagan winter song!

A winter’s carol: the song of the robin

A winter’s carol echo through the land

And I can hear it ringing out from pine to oak

Ringing out with a December snow

Ringing out a gift of old

Wrapped in ribbons of gold for the whole world

For the whole world

The Summer Queen has been in darkness

The Summer Queen surrenders to this

To him she reveals the secrets

To him she reveals the wine and secrets

For a time they join: fire and frost in marriage

Through a midwinter clearing, a forest greets a snowy evening

Year after year, the Holly King passes the torch as it was intended

Through a midwinter clearing, a final kiss and a new beginning

His Summer Queen wearing his wreath

Soon with the Sun she will be ascending

Through a midwinter clearing

The forest greets a snowy evening

With four arms of yew, the Holly King passes the torch as it was intended

Passes the torch as it was intended

A winter’s carol

First song of the robin

The Sun is reborn

From the starry heavens

A winter’s carol

Echo sound of wonder

And I can hear it

Ringing out from pine to oak

Ringing out with a December snow

Ringing out, a gift of old

Wrapped in ribbons of gold

For the whole world
