Not just an OK intro. It MAKES the song a masterpiece.
Now that I listen to this one, it almost seems shortened...Was there a longer version?

"You're So Vain" wins this category hands down. That menacing guitar opening. Carly whispering "you son of a gun," which everybody knew was code for "you son of a bitch." More foreboding guitar. Then that almost gentle keyboard on top of the guitar riff, then those startling, almost out of place last piano notes.
Simon doesn't get much respect in these parts, but "YSV" is undeniably genius pop music for the ages.

[quote] That was Annie," recalled singer Perry Farrell. "I'd got her from a dog shelter and she was quite needy, so I brought her down to the studio that day rather than leave her at home… I'm singing in the booth with the headphones on and Annie gets all excited and starts going, 'Ruff! Ruff! Ruff!'… The fact that she ended up on the track was just pure coincidence."

A song with a great opening is New York Minute by Don Henley. I can’t find a good video on YouTube (they’re all covers or about 9/11) so here’s a a karaoke version with just they music

What I like is their performance on American band stand.
She looks like a goth with that black hood. I think she looks so cool. Just something I have realized growing up. No one is ever really old. She was born in the 40s and is in her 70s today, fucked all her band mates and I think she is more relatable than most young people today who don't seem to know themselves.
I wish heaven was like some lobby through time where you can talk to all people and experience what they felt and you laugh like oh that is what you meant. Watching these old music videos from a previous generation really bridges the generation fap for me. Just no one is old, they just look it.

R510 *everyone except Marty Balin, haha.
She said she initially joined the band to have an affair with Jack Casady because she loved bass players.
Interesting woman for sure!

Layla, Derek & the Dominoes.
It’s not just the iconic entrance, the Piano Exit is still amazing 50 years later.

I've always been partial to the moody, building piano intro here. Great underrated song, even if written by cheesemistress Diane Warren. It all comes down to the singer:
