Should I be on Twitter for my business?

I tried it 10 years ago and found it exhausting. Has it changed much?

Any DLers tweeting as part of their business, whether employed or self-employed?

Thank you for any insight.

I'm thinking of using it for my business too. Apparently it's a great marketing tool. My problem is I lack the motivation to take photos and think of stuff to tweet.

No. It's not worth it. One mistep or wrong word and you will be ruined forever. Besides, the only thing people use twitter for is whining about trivial shit, making unfunny one liners, or accusing famous people of rape.

^ Perhaps on mainstream, basic bitch Twitter, r2, but there are other niches tweeting there, too.

Personally, I don't tweet.

I'm back on Twitter and it's too much work already. Am I wasting my time?

Yes, OP. Give it up. Twitter is an echo chamber and I don’t think it’s a very good business tool unless you’re already a major company with brand awareness.

I’m a self-employed designer and marketing twat. I thought social media was the beating heart of my business until I got majorly burnt out a couple of years ago and quit Twitter/Facebook both personally and professionally. It’s not had any negative impact on my business as far as I can tell.

I now stick to using Instagram to curate a brand identity and post images of my recent work. I will occasionally use LinkedIn to network with local businesses as well. Narrowing my social presence has really improved my focus and freed up a lot of my time.

Less is more, as they say. x

Depending in what type of business it is, Instagram could be better for visuals.
