Gosh, I hope someone posts hilarious shhh jokes to this. They're a riot!

Judy was one of the most talented singers ever. She also had a lot of pain and struggle throughout her life. Despite that, she had a good heart, which is hard to encounter in Hollywood. At a time when gay people were oppressed beyond belief, they identified with her struggles and she theirs.

Liza could both sing and act. She was hysterical in Author, won a Broadway Toney for Cabaret ( a musical) . Ummmm,, I know there's more! But anyway, she at least acted and sang in those.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | November 3, 2019 5:57 PM |
Toney?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | November 3, 2019 6:02 PM |
She had pizzazz.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | November 3, 2019 6:06 PM |
What’s not to like about her?
by Anonymous | reply 7 | November 3, 2019 6:09 PM |
And you can't spell, OP.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | November 3, 2019 6:10 PM |
OP..take a look at most of your "singers" today...they can't either, seriously.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | November 3, 2019 6:12 PM |
Yea Toney ! for her hair, what did you think I meant ??
by Anonymous | reply 10 | November 3, 2019 6:15 PM |
No stunts, no backup singers, no fireworks just putting her self out there in this performance. Granted her best years are behind her but she s a phenomenal singer-artist.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 3, 2019 6:17 PM |
OP: You know nothing.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 3, 2019 6:21 PM |
Shpell
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 3, 2019 6:22 PM |
Liza Minnelli is a national treasure.
OP: Do your homework.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 3, 2019 6:23 PM |
She's a great all round entertainer. She was very good in several films. She's warm and witty. People like her.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 3, 2019 6:23 PM |
Liza can be accused of ALOT of things, Not having talent or an iconic hair style that she owns, are not two of them.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 3, 2019 6:23 PM |
Liza has more talent in her pinky than most so-called performers do these days. Great actress (in the right role), singer (in the right key), and dancer. She had her limits of course, but no one could sell a song like Liza. The art of actually selling a song seems to be long gone. She really made you believe she was a different character with every song she sang. It was magnificent.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | November 3, 2019 6:28 PM |
Op, you might not like her but she could both sing and act, very talented woman.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 3, 2019 6:32 PM |
Love ya, R3.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 3, 2019 6:37 PM |
She was before my time, but it's so odd to me how she's managed to endure all these years as an icon when she stopped being successful as an actress after 1972. Unless you count playing second banana to Dudley Moore.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 4, 2019 3:17 AM |
Say what you well, but just DO NOT look at her feet...you will never be able to un-see them.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 4, 2019 3:33 AM |
Is she related to Liza MINNELLI?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 4, 2019 3:43 AM |
A wonderful friend and a fabulous entertainer.
And she could rock a pantsuit like nobody!!!
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 4, 2019 3:13 PM |
R11 her best years were behind her in 1985.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 16, 2019 7:52 AM |
OP is shilly.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 16, 2019 8:02 AM |
I've always thought you should have focused on acting. She's really great in comic roles in particular.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 16, 2019 8:16 AM |
Vulnerability. And an ok shouty-type voice like Ethel Merman. Judy once said she was basically a shouter too.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 16, 2019 8:19 AM |
Does Judy not shout?
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 16, 2019 6:54 PM |
She inherited most of her mother's talent and all of her mother's demons. Thankfully she seems to have gotten at least some of Vincente's longevity, and she was apparently smarter with her money.

"Does Judy not shout? "
No. She dead.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 19, 2019 4:14 PM |
Her personality.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 19, 2019 4:16 PM |
Liza had sense in her film career. She knew when to get while the gettin' was good.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 19, 2019 4:19 PM |
She’s pretty awful
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 19, 2019 4:39 PM |
My appeal to her is because she was best friends with Roy Halston Frowick, haha! If I were alive back then, I'd be after Halston so bad...and I found out after reading about him, he LOVED long, thick black dicks. I'd be a shoe in for him. He is/was kinda cute to me! And Liza and Halston loved to go to Studio 54, which I wish I had an opportunity to attend.
Other than that, I like Liza because she made herself, honestly. She moved to New York with no money from her parents and slept on benches in Central Park until she got her roles, especially Cabaret. And as soon as she made herself, she STILL dealt with her parents. Liza is an inspiration because she went from what I just described hearing and reading to who she is today. That alone makes her a queen in her own right.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 19, 2019 6:05 PM |
Good point about how she made herself and didn't just weasel into the movie business because her parents were in it. She wanted to be an actress, but a stage actress. Movies followed, but she's always been a creature of the stage.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 19, 2019 7:47 PM |
She can spell her last name.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 19, 2019 7:59 PM |
She's unique. You can't mistake her for anyone else, and she can't just take on any role. Her range is rather limited, but at her best, she blows anyone else out of the water. She should be receiving a Kennedy Center Honor: I don't know what the hold up is.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | November 19, 2019 8:28 PM |
Really sweet r3, but it doesn't answer the question, does it?
by Anonymous | reply 41 | November 19, 2019 8:31 PM |
r4 Turn in your gay card. LIza Minelli never appeared in Cabaret on Broadway. So how you awarded her a Tony for that non-appearance is stupifying. You're kicked out of the club. No disappear!
by Anonymous | reply 42 | November 19, 2019 8:35 PM |
R40's video is my favorite Liza era, around the time of the Radio City show. But her voice was beginning to get husky by then, and as it turned out, wouldn't last.

This is fun. I like how the stocky guy is so flexible.

by Anonymous | reply 46 | November 19, 2019 9:44 PM |
Liza is one of the homeliest actresses who ever appeared on film.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | November 20, 2019 12:25 AM |
Without Liza, there would be no Lady Gaga, so tell that to any Gaga worshipping Millenials. Also, Liza was a better actress than Gaga.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | November 20, 2019 12:42 AM |
Back in the day, there was nothing like Liza in concert (and I mean that in a great way.)
by Anonymous | reply 49 | November 20, 2019 12:58 AM |
Liza was talented, but also a product and symbol of her era of dazzle-dazzle, over-the-top, dynamo modern woman entertainer. I think she became more of a popular culture icon than known as a brilliant singer or actor like her mom. Liza was more of a scrappy, magnetic stage performer.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | November 20, 2019 2:12 AM |
Liza was unique, and achieved a mass appeal with gays and older women. But it had a short shelf life compared with the real greats, including her mother. By that I mean the initial wow wore off after a few years, like three-four years.

Zero.

She was a great Influence on the great Freddie Mercury. He could rock the stage because of what he learned from Liza.
I still remember seeing her honor him at the memorial concert in 1992. She rocked!
