This looks terrific, can't wait to see it! I hope that Lifetime does a whole series of movies about country music 'sisters', I would love the next one to be on Ann Murray and Reba McEntire! Fancy is my favorite song and Snowbird reminds me of the dog me and my ex-husband had until we had to put it down because we were moving to an apartment with a no pets policy!

by Anonymousreply 1October 16, 2019 11:00 PM

Dusty & Martha!

by Anonymousreply 2October 16, 2019 11:04 PM

Meh. Neither one really captures the person they are playing.

by Anonymousreply 3October 16, 2019 11:11 PM

It just makes me want to watch Coal Miner’s Daughter. That guy playing Doo is no HPOA early 80s Tommy Lee Jones.

by Anonymousreply 4October 16, 2019 11:21 PM

Well goldarnit! They done went and made a movie about me and Patsy! All you gay fellers better settle down and watch.

by Anonymousreply 5October 17, 2019 12:33 AM

[quote]Well goldarnit! They done went and made a movie about me and Patsy! All you gay fellers better settle down and watch. —Loretty

And don't forgit to buy some of my Crisco. I know you fellers like to use a lot of it for whatever it is you do.

by Anonymousreply 6October 17, 2019 12:45 AM

"set down" - not "settle down"

by Anonymousreply 7October 17, 2019 12:47 AM

[quote]"set down" - not "settle down

Settle works too.

by Anonymousreply 8October 17, 2019 12:48 AM

Did Megan Hilty put on weight to play Patsy? She looks short and plump.

by Anonymousreply 9October 17, 2019 1:23 AM

[quote]Did Megan Hilty put on weight to play Patsy? She looks short and plump.

She was always a "solid" girl. In Smash, she was the voluptuous Marilyn and always seemed quite busty and hippy.

by Anonymousreply 10October 17, 2019 1:26 AM

Crisco'll do yer, uh, RED HANKY BIDNESS proud everytime!

by Anonymousreply 11October 17, 2019 1:28 AM

Adam Sandler as Loretta?

by Anonymousreply 12October 17, 2019 1:47 AM

I love Megan Hilty. She should be a bigger star.

by Anonymousreply 13October 17, 2019 1:58 AM

Can't wait.

by Anonymousreply 14October 18, 2019 12:23 AM

Damn than schnoz on "Loretta"

by Anonymousreply 15October 20, 2019 12:08 AM

[quote]Fancy is my favorite song and Snowbird reminds me of the dog me and my ex-husband had until we had to put it down because we were moving to an apartment with a no pets policy!

Darlanne, please tell me you was jus' funnin' about that dog.

by Anonymousreply 16October 20, 2019 12:37 AM

Wasn't this already a movie?

by Anonymousreply 17October 20, 2019 12:45 AM

[quote]Wasn't this already a movie?

Yes, it was called Coal Miner's Daughter.

by Anonymousreply 18October 20, 2019 2:11 AM

And "Sweet Dreams."

by Anonymousreply 19October 20, 2019 4:08 AM

The trailer looks good, I'm going to check it out, though neither actress evokes them.

by Anonymousreply 20October 20, 2019 4:40 AM

Never knew Patsy was tight with Dottie West. Weird how Cline goes down in a plane crash, and West is offed 25-30 years later in a car crash.

by Anonymousreply 21October 20, 2019 4:43 AM

Patsy always seemed a bit butch and I think lesbians have tried to claim her as one of theirs. But is there any evidence that Patsy was a lady lover?

by Anonymousreply 22October 20, 2019 4:45 AM

R21 It is covered in the Dottie West tv-move.

R22 I've never seen her as butch, just one of those women who is fine with being one of the guys. She was, also, the first Country female to embrace glamour.

by Anonymousreply 23October 20, 2019 5:19 AM

R23, In order to be a crossover artist, Patsy had to ditch the Grand Ol' Opry duds and glam it up.

I can see how Patsy's face might give rise to such speculation. She could have done a good Desperate Dan for Halloween.

I always thought of Patsy Cline as country cocktail music.

by Anonymousreply 26October 20, 2019 2:49 PM

I think the reason Hilty looks plump is because she had a baby prior to making this movie.

I thought Hilty was good in this but the actress playing Loretta just didn't evoke her in any way. Not her speaking voice or her naivety.

by Anonymousreply 27October 20, 2019 5:25 PM

Those wigs are hideous!

by Anonymousreply 28October 20, 2019 6:06 PM

Hilty’s kid is 2 1/2. The reason she looks plump is because she’s plump.

by Anonymousreply 29October 20, 2019 6:30 PM

Tony award winner Jesse Mueller played Loretta. Miscast.

by Anonymousreply 30October 20, 2019 10:40 PM

Did Sissy Spacek or Jessica Lange get a cameo?

by Anonymousreply 31October 20, 2019 10:51 PM

Lord - I have never in all my life.....

"Patsy" sang a couple of her songs but she never sang "I Fall To Pieces" - and I'm guessing from the noise and the fact that both "actresses" are singers, they did their own caterwauling...

They never sang a ONE of Loretty's songs - just some made up crap trying to fool to fans.

We wasn't fooled, boys. And I tell ya, if Loretty had been as ugly as that girl what played her - she'd a never made it in the music business.

That girl was a nose with eyes.

by Anonymousreply 32October 20, 2019 10:59 PM

That seems an odd complaint considering neither of the legends portrayed were at all beauties.

by Anonymousreply 33October 20, 2019 11:03 PM

Loretty ain't no beauty -that's true - but she didn't look like THAT. And it's true that the wigs did neither of the gals any favors....

by Anonymousreply 34October 20, 2019 11:12 PM

No Loretta songs?

by Anonymousreply 35October 21, 2019 7:32 PM

[quote]No Loretta songs?

It's called PATSY and......loretta . Not Loretta and Patsy.

by Anonymousreply 36October 21, 2019 7:45 PM

Come on man, you don't have to be a Dick about this.

by Anonymousreply 37October 21, 2019 7:49 PM

Loretta was not that ugly, she was cute, when she smiled.

by Anonymousreply 38October 21, 2019 8:00 PM

You ain't got ta lie, Creg.

Sissy Spaceks nose was relatively microscopic compared to those two schnozzes.

by Anonymousreply 40October 21, 2019 9:55 PM

I think Loretta was quite string in real life through those time. Patsy, on the other hand, always looked booze-bloated.

by Anonymousreply 41October 21, 2019 10:21 PM

^striking, not string

by Anonymousreply 42October 21, 2019 10:21 PM

I thought Hilty sounded great
