It had nothing to do with being gay. I grew up in LA and was pretty bohemian. I found Harvard to be full of a strange mix of preppies, kids from NYC dressed in black and pointy shoes, and awkward nerdy types. Horrible weather as well.

Plus the guys weren't as attractive as my home state

3 other Californians in my class also transferred back to CA (Stanford, boo)

Stanford. Hated it. School filled with rich, spoiled preppies, anti-social nerds, and dumb jocks. How it has such a good reputation is beyond me, and I can only think it has to do with its enormous wealth and influence. The student body is not nearly as smart as most other good schools.
