What’s One Food You Cannot Live Without?

Artichokes, Avocados, Shrimp

Sorry, I chose three.

I’m pissed. Costco used to sell a four pack of artichokes, now they do not. (At least at my Costco).

Pomegranates.

They're in season!

by Anonymousreply 1October 14, 2019 7:49 PM

by Anonymousreply 2October 14, 2019 7:51 PM

Steamer Clams, too.

by Anonymousreply 3October 14, 2019 7:51 PM

R1 do you use a pomegranates deseeder?

by Anonymousreply 4October 14, 2019 7:53 PM

OP, how do you cook your artichokes?

by Anonymousreply 5October 14, 2019 7:53 PM

Peanut butter

by Anonymousreply 6October 14, 2019 7:54 PM

R5 I boil them for 45 minutes, depending on their size, and dip the ends in mayonnaise with Johnny Seasoning sprinkled on mayo. I love the heart.

by Anonymousreply 7October 14, 2019 7:55 PM

R5 do you eat artichokes? If so, how do you cook/eat yours?

by Anonymousreply 8October 14, 2019 7:59 PM

Olives. If I had only a month to live I’d eat nothing but olives and drink nothing but Coco Cola made with real sugar.

by Anonymousreply 9October 14, 2019 8:00 PM

Red wine.

Soup.

Not any particular kind. It can be home- or factory-made, and it can be with or without meat. It's the combination of flavours I enjoy most.

by Anonymousreply 16October 14, 2019 8:16 PM

Half n Half for my coffee along with real sugar. No flavored creamers, no dairy substitutes, no artificial sweeteners, must be half n half and sugar and nothing else.

by Anonymousreply 17October 14, 2019 8:26 PM

Rice.

by Anonymousreply 18October 14, 2019 8:28 PM

Cheese. Literally any kind of cheese. Add potatoes and I'm a happy man

by Anonymousreply 19October 14, 2019 8:33 PM

Wilted spinach with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Although it’s 3 ingredients, it’s one flavor. OK, I’ll truly break the rule of the thread. Do the above, but grate some shallot and a little aged Gouda. Want it even better? Throw in some orzo.

by Anonymousreply 20October 14, 2019 8:40 PM

Water

by Anonymousreply 21October 14, 2019 8:42 PM

R8, I have only had bottled antipasto style artichokes. Fresh artichokes look delicious. I’ve waited too long to try one cooked.

by Anonymousreply 22October 14, 2019 8:44 PM

What the hell is Johnny seasoning?

by Anonymousreply 23October 14, 2019 8:47 PM

by Anonymousreply 25October 14, 2019 8:50 PM

You can cook your artichokes a whole lot faster if you pressure cook them.

R19 have your ever tried the ‘funeral potatoes’ recipe?

I haven’t eaten yet today and those funeral potatoes look delicious, r28

by Anonymousreply 29October 14, 2019 9:11 PM

R29 yes, they are wonderful. I add ham to the potatoes, too. They are delicious. I definitely need a walk or two after eating them.

R61

I removed the tough leaves, cut up the hearts, sauteed them with garlic, and served them with pasta. Next time, I'll probably do my usual and steam them whole. There's nothing like disassembling a whole artichoke and dipping the leaves in butter or aioli.

by Anonymousreply 64October 15, 2019 7:35 AM

Vegemite.

by Anonymousreply 65October 15, 2019 8:08 AM

by Anonymousreply 72October 16, 2019 12:33 AM

Aren't artichokes totally out of season right now?

by Anonymousreply 73October 16, 2019 12:42 AM

Buttered toast

Home-made style bread with lots of real butter spread all over. Can be a tasty dessert too when you sprinkle a mixture of white sugar and cinnamon over the buttered toast.
