I think Jennifer at R13 got her nose out of joint.

R9 is right on target, Gen-Xer here, who was never in a class in school without two Jennifers and a Jessica.

Every girl in my 80s high school was named Amy, Michelle, Jennifer, or some form of Christine (including Kristens and Kristas and Crystals).

Every boy was named Michael, Christopher, Jeff, or Matthew (there were also a fair number of Jasons and Kevins).

There were exceptions, of course, but it felt like 80% of the school shared just a few different names.

I was in a tiny school of 300 kids and there were multiple Jennifers, Stacys, Chrises, Michaels, Shauns, Billys, Kevins, Amys, Brians, Allens, Matts, and Dawns. That's all I can remember off the top of my head but there really wasn't a lot of variety in names.

I was born in 1964, supposedly the last year for Boomers but I never felt like one.

I went to a small private school. There were three Martha’s and three Sarah’s in my class. Dave was the most popular boys name.

There were several girls named Melinda in my class (graduated in 84). I have never encounter Melindas since and wonder if that name was a regional thing where I grew up (and haven’t returned to in 35 years).

I have NEVER understood the appeal of the name Tammy. It just sounds ugly, poor, low class, uneducated, dirty and slutty.
