Oh Blossom, you’re so beautiful!
DL Fave Mayim Bialik to remake Britcom “Miranda” with Jim Parsons

She actually does look good in that picture.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | September 19, 2019 11:45 PM |
Ugh that seriEs was awful.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 19, 2019 11:52 PM |
Are they going to have Tom Ellis recreate his role?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | September 19, 2019 11:55 PM |
This will not work. Mayim has zero charisma.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | September 19, 2019 11:57 PM |
Dear God, Parsons isn't playing Tom Ellis' role, is he?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | September 19, 2019 11:58 PM |

That didn't prevent the original from being a huge success. The female lead was a total wet blanket.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 20, 2019 12:00 AM |
It wasn't funny and was painful watching.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | September 20, 2019 12:08 AM |
R6 Miranda Hart has a kind of charisma, an awkward cringe type of charisma. Mayim could do well in the role, if she is alittle more Blossom and a little less Amy. Also, they should consider bringing back Jenna von Oÿ, who played her sidekick on Blossom, I think she would fit the Tilly role, very well.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 20, 2019 12:10 AM |
What's up with the Miranda Hart hate? I think she's hilarious. Maybe Parsons will be playing the Tilly role, re-written as Mayim's gay sidekick 'cause he will flop in the Tom Ellis role.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | September 20, 2019 12:52 AM |
The article says Mayim will executive produce and star while Parsons will executive produce.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | September 20, 2019 1:01 AM |
This will bomb. Americans don’t adapt British sitcoms very well. The Office is about the only exception. x
by Anonymous | reply 11 | September 20, 2019 1:07 AM |
Shut up, Rhoda. x
by Anonymous | reply 12 | September 20, 2019 1:08 AM |
This will suck.
Also second R12. All in the Family is much better than its British source material, 'Till Death Do Us Part.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 20, 2019 1:21 AM |
Three's Company was also a britcom first.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 20, 2019 1:22 AM |
R11 Really, R12 is right, All In The Family, Sanford & Son, Three's Company, The Office, and Veep. In addition, Superstore isn't considered a remake but it essentially an ripoff of Trollied.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 20, 2019 1:23 AM |
I like both of them.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 20, 2019 1:27 AM |
They're both too ugly to be on TV.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 20, 2019 1:28 AM |
Is this that show about a girl who thinks she can sing, but really can’t and has over involved eyebrows?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | September 20, 2019 1:31 AM |
No. That was GLEE.

Hard to believe only a few years ago, she was the answer to a question in Trivial Pursuit - the '90s.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 20, 2019 1:41 AM |
I liked Miranda in “Spy” but she annoyed the fuck out of me in “Call The Midwife”.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | September 20, 2019 1:43 AM |
She was good in the French & Saunders MAMMA MIA parody.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 20, 2019 1:48 AM |
Jim Parsons will play the business partner Stevie.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 20, 2019 1:53 AM |
From the article, I think Jim is only serving as a producer on the show. I don't think he's starring in it. They'll probably get some ditzy blonde to play Stevie (maybe even Kaley Cuoco, she needs the work), some above average/borderline hot looking guy like Justin Hartley to play Gary and then some veteran actress like Carol Burnett or Lanie Kazan to play her mother. It's still going to suck because it will lack the humor and charm of the original, plus Mayim Bialik is insufferable and smug to boot. Will last about as long as Mulaney, even though he's infinitely more talented than her.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | September 20, 2019 2:09 AM |
This is sad because the original is so good because it's based on Miranda herself. This big lumbering woman trying to fit into a normal world. That's what was so funny. It's not just some nerdy girl doing shtick. It was funny because of Miranda's physical presence.
They should have offered Miranda's role to Jane Lynch. Christine Ebersole as the mother. Amy Sedaris as Stevie. Patrick Dempsey as the love interest.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | September 20, 2019 2:34 AM |
Jane Lynch and Christine Ebersole are contemporaries, no?
by Anonymous | reply 27 | September 20, 2019 2:42 AM |
r26, your choices except for Ebersole are all much too old for those roles.
It's no longer 2004.

Bea Arthur was a year older than Estelle Getty. What's your point?

Was the Golden Girls shot in HD?
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 20, 2019 2:58 AM |
I dont get the Mayim hate on here. I liked her as Amy,and I secretly watched every episode of Blossom.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 20, 2019 3:06 AM |
r31 I'll bet you wouldn't post that on a non-anonymous board.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | September 20, 2019 3:25 AM |
Yes! Yes! Yes!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 20, 2019 3:44 AM |
R31 I wasn’t allowed to watch Mary Tyler Moore because her voice got on my mothers nerves, why weren’t you allowed to watch Blossom?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 20, 2019 3:54 AM |
Why Miranda? The original sucks.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | September 20, 2019 3:56 AM |
I love Mayim, and I am looking forward to her new comedy show.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | September 20, 2019 7:52 AM |
She’s well cast - the singing and dancing, the 90sness, the quirkiness - if half the height of the original
by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 20, 2019 8:01 AM |
OMG. Imagine if Bette played the quirky, what I like to call, 'Mother'!
by Anonymous | reply 38 | September 20, 2019 9:34 AM |
I want to see her and Bette in a remake of Terms of Endearment.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | September 20, 2019 10:15 AM |
Mayim Bialik and her love interest Patrick Dempsey. Oh my sides!

R11 Shameless US is on it's 20th season or something and the original British show had James McAvoy and still couldn't last that long, not to mention the successful "Being Human US ".
by Anonymous | reply 41 | September 20, 2019 10:21 AM |
Pretty sure the UK "Shameless" (like other British series) was never intended to last longer than 2/3 seasons. Unlike US, they don't tend to milk something until it's dried up and pitiful....
by Anonymous | reply 42 | September 20, 2019 2:53 PM |
The UK Shameless ran for 11 seasons. That's very rare for UK shows, which often have only one writer, or a very small group of writers. It's true that they don't tend to run their shows into the ground. They have some decades long running soaps but soaps are their own thing.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | September 20, 2019 3:04 PM |
They're hideous, why would anyone want to see them on HD TV?
by Anonymous | reply 44 | September 20, 2019 3:57 PM |
Shows like Midsomer Murders run for over 22 seasons but have fewer than 8 episodes per season.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | September 20, 2019 4:59 PM |
So is Jim acting or just producing? I thought he’s given up on Big Bang because he’s tired of acting in a sitcom.
