It was really smart of them to do private screenings in NY and not go to all the festivals where reviews would have been more competitive.

I still find it surprising there's gonna be a premiere in London (I would have expected Oz instead) because I don't think there's gonna be many positive reviews from the British press. Euro press has been much more critical in general (guess they don't really buy into the idea of Tim being the second coming).

Pls i read tons of reviews from European critics on Tims movies and they love the boy. They are actually much mire positive on him in general then US. It might be tough with this movie only in UK and france due to topic. And nevertheless there are respected magazines that rave Timmy in it. Dunno where you got that idea that they do not buy him. I would say they are eating him up and love the taste

and i dont like that false narrative that movie is bad So far it is 60%positive 20/20% so so and bad revies on the movie and as to him all the reviews praise him but 3 (one from Woddy Allen fan one from BBC who shit on everyone in it and a snob and one from irrelawent lil mag no one gives a shit about)

With 14 reviews, it's at 67% on MetaCritic. I'll be interested to see how that changes moving forward.

With the exception of NME (which is garbage), none of the review have been BAD.

I'm personally very much looking forward to seeing The King.

LIsten to Matt’s podcast that drops on Sunday. I’m sure they will discuss The King. After the trailer and Venice reviews they were pretty lukewarm. Interested to hear if anything has changed now that he’s seen it himself.

Just too many big names this year and higher priorities for Netflix I suspect. But we’ll see if it gains unexpected momentum these next weeks.

Yes the King is going nowhere but to some nice streaming numbers on Netflix. If they can keep the Metacritic at 67 they will be happy.

R345 Actually if you look at The King reviews on Metacritic you notice most favorable reviews come from American publications. The Guardian gave it 60 and The Telegraph 40. It's gonna be hard to sell this in England, but they are smart screening in NY first to BAFTA audiences.
