I am FB friends with a guy I used to have a crush on and apparently a few years ago he got involved with this other couple (who co-parent a kid with this lesbian couple) and apparently they all got "married" this summer. Big party and family photos and all these posts about it and everyone's saying congrats and I just want to ask, is this legal? Is any of this real?
How did this throuple get "married?"

It's not illegal, but it has no legal standing. Like gay commitment ceremonies 20 years ago.

Actually it's not. Look into any one of these boys social media and you'll see they got married.

The article says that the two guys on the right are married and then the one on the left joined them.

Never mind, you people are useless.

OP, what the fuck do you want us to say? Two people got married and then they welcomed a third into their bed and their lives. This is really nothing all that new. Plenty of straight and gay relationships have been open and non-monogamous throughout history. Even the most prim and proper hetero marriage probably has some secrets/some infidelities. You’re clutching your pearls and gasping for smelling salts over this like it somehow affects you, and then you get pissy because we’re not taking the bait? GTFOOH.

He must have a nice dick or something because the two guys originally in the relationship are much more attractive... or else he just needs to rethink his haircut.

Anyone can “get married”—just have a party and a service. But you are not legally married unless the state you live in issues a marriage license. The throuple here did what polygamous Mormons do. There is one legal couple, and they add partners over time. These additional partners have no legal standing, but the community recognizes the whole group as “married.”

Your question was answered at r1 and has been answered again in greater depth at r7. Given that there are only 8 replies in the thread so far, that's a pretty good signal-to-noise ratio for DL. If you were not able to comprehend, "It's not illegal, but it has no legal standing. Like gay commitment ceremonies 20 years ago" that's your problem.

Stop saying "throuple", please.
