Bernie's Medicare for All or Buttigieg's Medicare for all who want it ?

Discuss which one you prefer and which one is more effective. And take my poll.

Democrats are fools for talking about healthcare all the time. Most people have insurance through their employer already, and couldn't care less whether poor people are insured.

Poor people can't afford insurance even when it's 'affordable'; their paltry paychecks have to go for things like food and shelter (thank god that egregious "Obamafine" for not having insurance has ended). And you can't worry about retirement when you're just trying to make it through the week.

And most poor people don't vote anyway. You know it's true.

People want to hear about good-paying jobs, green energy, a cleaner environment, ending endless costly wars, better wagesm

I’m wealthy, well insured and terribly concerned about the primitive state of healthcare in the US. Your cynical take is of course a formula for national decline. Nice to know you don’t give a shit about the poor or even middle class who cannot afford insurance. By the way, health care has consistently been a top 3 concern in all polls. For me the fact that coverage (health care access) for all is a Democratic goal is what’s most important. There are many ways and examples eWorld wife on how to get there, at about half the cost per capita as our current system. Ee’ll Get there if we dump the GOP.

Typo above “world wide”

Does it matter? Nearly everyone of these Presidential candidates campaign proposals are going no where. Even if the Democrats take the Senate (unlikely) and keep the house, and one of them becomes President there is still the filibuster. You would need 60 votes in the Senate, unless they change the rules to end the filibuster, which is unlikely. Even Bernie is against changing the filibuster rule. Even then you have Democrats like Joe Manchin who pretty much a Democrat in name only.

Obama wanted universal medical coverage for everyone, but what congress gave him was the ACA and as Joe Biden say even passing this watered down version of what Obama wanted was a BIG FUCKING DEAL.

I don't know why these people are arguing over these different proposals, none of them will become law.

During a town hall with Sen. Bernie Sanders in Nevada, a veteran who said he was suffering from Huntington's Disease told the 2020 candidate he was going to take his own life over his nearly $140,000 in medical debt.
R1: And most poor people don't vote anyway. You know it's true.

This is exactly why they must keep talking about it.

[italic] Dear poor people, remember how you briefly had affordable health insurance under Obamacare? The Dems want to give that back to you, but you have to vote for them to make this happen. [/italic]

And while we are at it, Bernie played a big part in bringing down Hillary.

FUCK HIM

by Anonymousreply 9September 18, 2019 2:13 AM

OP, I don’t know the differences, but am voting Dem, you betchya.

I believe that the Clinton’s healthcare plan (1990s) was necessary for Obamacare to happen, and Obamacare is necessary for future progress on healthcare coverage.

Warren was dragged to filth by Pete. I love this. Lol

Remove the pharm crooks and everyone could receive health care easily.

Michael Bennet cooking up drama where there is none and getting smacked down by a journalist. How desperate.
Democrats are fools for talking about healthcare all the time.

It's one of the top concerns of the voters and it is at least partially responsible for the Democratic blue wave in 2018. And it's a topic that Republicans have no answer for. It's a winner
Does it matter? Nearly everyone of these Presidential candidates campaign proposals are going no where.

Yes, because it's indicative of what Democrats believe: that health care is a right, that people should not be going bankrupt to deal with a medical emergency, that people should not be dying because they cannot afford health care. It also matters because we're consuming nearly 18% of our GDP on health care costs, overall, and those numbers are expected to climb to around 22%. We are not on a sustainable path.

If you're not prepared to talk about, and fight for, what you believe, then why on earth should I vote for you? Thankfully, the Democratic candidates are smarter than these idiots.

Some early signs of Warren maybe starting to pivot. Might just be noise for now, but it'll be interesting to see how she tweaks it for the general...
This is very interesting. Warren says tonight in NH that Medicare for All is a “framework”
Confident she has vanquished Bernie she can now sound saner and go after Biden moderates. By the general election it will be Medicare for all who want it.
