Bernie’s blessing is his consistency. The clever smears never work and stick because his public record is unmatched by ANYONE else. He has integrity and has always fought for the underprivileged underrepresented. He inspires people which is amazing in and of itself considering his gritty deliveries.
No one can deny that man has heart, passion and a true vision.
And no one can deny he has the biggest movement going, receiving more individual contributions than any other candidate in US history.
He’s the only candidate that has consistently beat Trump in the polls during the last four years. He’s also the only candidate Trump backed out of a debate with in ‘16, and is also the only candidate Trump truly fears.

by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 12, 2019 12:19 AM |
Looking at all the intention to vote surveys, I have come to the perspective that Bernie Sanders is the best candidate to beat Trump.
Also, in some media sponsor polls they are neck and neck. These are the polls that are unreliable due to high bias. Moreover, The Mainstream Media is covering Biden, and not Bernie. Bernie Sanders is polling equally to Biden, in the highly bias DNC/wall street polls. I call these polls, "Don't you love Biden and hate Socialists" polls.

I resent the hell out of Bernie. He isn't a Democrat, but runs for our nomination, causes drama, whines that the DNC doesn't treat him fairly. He half-ass endorsed HRC, did a bit of campaigning for her, and did nothing to support down ticket races, and then jumped ship back to being independent. Same thing this time around. Using us to try to get a major party nomination. I have seen no emails sayin make a donation that is split between me and the DNC, but I have seen those from plenty of other candidates.
He is a spoiler who is once again using the Democratic Party, and will drop us like a hot potato the minute he does't get the nomination.
I want an actual DEMOCRAT to get the Democratic nomination. If somehow old cranky-ass Larry David manages to get the nomination I will vote for him, as any non-repug is better than Trump. I won't be happy about it though
His presence mainly just serves to sow discord and division within the Democratic Party.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 12, 2019 12:31 AM |

Let's get some facts straight, Borris [R31]:
-Bernie Sanders holds a senior position in the DNC.
-Bernie Sanders mobilizes many independent, swing, liberatrian and one-issue voters over to the Democratic in national elections.
-Bernie Sanders caucuses with the Democrats.
-Bernie Sanders worked his ass off to get Hillary elected. Actually, some would say he worked harder than Hillary. The dude is a powerhouse grassroots campaigner. This is an important skill to win the WH and sweep the 2020 election.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 12, 2019 12:40 AM |
In the primary I am a NEVER BERNIE, primarily because he REFUSED to join the Democratic Party. He only wants to use the Democratic Party platform for his own purposes, holds them at arms length, then complains when the party doesn't do what HE wants.

Bernie is a Democrat when the Democratic Party is useful to him. Once it no longer is he leaves the party. That is what he did in 2016, and he will do it again in 2020 if he doesn't get the nomination.
He caucuses with the Democrats because it is convenient for him to do so. He has no skin in the game when it comes to the Democratic Party, and that hurts down ticket races.

[quote]After numerous political defeats in his traditionally Republican state, Sanders won the office of mayor of Burlington by ten votes. A successful and popular mayor, he went on to win Vermont’s one Congressional seat in 1990. Since then, he has taken many courageous and politically risky stands on issues facing the nation. He has come under fire from various conservative religious groups because of his support for same-sex marriages. His stance on gun control led to NRA-organized media campaigns against him. Sanders has also shown creativity in organizing drug-shopping trips to Canada for senior citizens to call attention to inflated drug prices in the United States.

What's amusing is now that they are the ones who need all those alienated voters to support their man, they've already blown it, and continue to do so with their arrogance and bullying attitudes.

R84 is the perfect example of why Bernie is so hated on this board. It's not the "Get off my lawn" thing or the NY'er thing (I've lived in NYC my entire life and yes, he is very much what NY'ers used to be) it is the antisemitic thing.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | September 15, 2019 8:19 PM |
Honestly, the "anti-semitic thing" is mostly one DL poster, who spreads that shit over several threads. The dislike for Bernie, where it exists, has nothing to do with anti-semitism. It's everything else. He's a divisive character. That's his problem this time around. Most of the Dem candidates are progressive/leaning progressive, and then there's Liz Warren, who has pretty much a very similar agenda to Bernie's, but she's a uniter where Bernie is a divider. She's warm, not threatening, and gets people to actually listen, where Bernie turns them off.
Bernie brings nothing to the table this time that others haven't brought in a much more attractive package (and I'm not talking about looks).

I posted this in the "Progressive" thread but I want to post it here too. I truly mean no offense to those who still want Bernie. I wanted him in 2016 and I would still be happy to vote for him in 2020 if he gets the nomination.
Daily Kos voting has Elizabeth at 65% and Bernie at 7%. Now I love Bernie. I have always posted I love Bernie but I could not help but get a smile on my face when I saw this. I really want Elizabeth this time. She has backed up everything she wants to do with how it will work and more important (or is it most importantly?) how it will get PAID FOR. She has the backing of the most powerful Progressive group in the nation. I honestly think she can beat Trump and compared to Trump and Biden she's a youngin' and her brain is working just fine and she has more energy than most of us put together. If we can give her the WH and the Congress and Senate she will do amazing things in her first year, absolutely amazing.
I do however think she should do Medicare For All for everyone who wants it. This way she won't give the evil ones ammunition. I will bet in two years 95% of the country will sign up for MFA once word of mouth get around about how great it is. Everyone I know on Medicare adores it, not just the elderly but those who are young and disabled. People wouldn't let their Medicare go for all the private insurance in the country, even the good plans. No private insurance is better than Medicare and if it also includes dental and eye care, and it will, in MFA there is no comparison. There will be nothing but a handful of rich fucks left keeping their private insurance. The insurance company CEO billionaires will be jumping out the windows and isn't that something most of us would like to see?

R108 Don’t feel like you have to apologize for being excited about Warren. I’m behind Bernie but I’ve donated to Elizabeth’s campaign and would/will vote for her in a heartbeat, and with much pride.
I think it’s great that’s she’s risen and that she’s a SERIOUS contender. The more Progressives, the better, tbh.
Even better is listening to Bernie and Liz talk policy and politics. It’s like listening to jazz.

[quote]Can we all just get behind Bernie Sanders
No, we can't. Liz Warren, absolutely. Bernie Sanders, no. And Liz has much more of a chance of winning against Trump than Bernie has.

But Medicare IS private insurers, who are paid by the government. At least, that's how Medicare works in CA. Once you reach Medicare eligible age, you have to make a choice of which company you want (in LA, it's Kaiser, Anthem Blue Shield, Scan, and a couple of others I can't remember). I just went through this with my mother. She has a co-pay.

If you're speaking of Original Medicare R113, you're mistaken. Under Original Medicare, you pick a doc that takes Medicare, and Medicare pays the doc minus copay/deductible which you pay out of pocket.
Those on Medicare can also sign up for Medicare Advantage plans. Those plans utilize insurance companies that agree to provide at least the same coverage under Original Medicare, sometimes more. There are PPS, PPO and HMO plans.

In NY original Medicare is going anywhere, any doctor, any hospital, any medical supply store that will take Medicare. Many Medicare doctors take what is called "Assignment." That means you don't pay a co-pay. The doctor takes what Medicare pays. It's a good idea to ask any doctor you go to if he or she takes assignment. If not and you have no special reason for wanting that particular doctor, just find one who does take it.
Medicare is a great plan, as is Medicaid. I was on Medicaid for a while and I got excellent care and I saw most of my doctors in their private offices. For the few that I saw at a clinic it as great care as well and often I only had to wait about 15 minutes to see the doctor, an actual doctor who had a private practice elsewhere, not students. The couple of times I had to be hospitalized it was the same as anyone with private insurance, a room with just one other patient in it and my own doctors coming to see me daily, along with the hospital doctors doing their rounds and once an excellent surgeon and anesthesiologist.

Bernie and Andrew Yang have both taken a pass on appearing on the CNN Town Hall about LGBT issues on October 10. Warren, Harris, Buttigieg, Booker, Castro, Beto, Biden, Klobuchar, and Tom Steyer.
Bernie and Andrew Yang have "scheduling issues."

Bernie ain't a Democrat. And he'll never be president.
I will give him this, he sounds infinitely more coherent than Biden, and he's 2 years older.

I thought in 2016 that Bernie would make a great president and I still do, but now I think Warren would make a better one and I think she is more electable. That said I will vote for any of them. I'd vote for a rabid skunk against Trump,
