9/11/01: Never Forget.

Because we're never going to let you.

by Anonymousreply 66September 18, 2019 11:11 PM

The sky was so blue that day.

by Anonymousreply 1September 11, 2019 3:31 AM

The World Trade Center is an insatiable bottom.

by Anonymousreply 2September 11, 2019 3:32 AM

November already is it?

by Anonymousreply 3September 11, 2019 3:32 AM

R2 the chuckle this invoked sure just confirmed my place in hell. I hope that's also full of insatiable bottoms.

by Anonymousreply 4September 11, 2019 3:36 AM

Do you realize there are young adults now who don't even remember this day? Some that weren't even born when it happened?

Damn, we are living in a scary world now.

by Anonymousreply 5September 11, 2019 3:42 AM

We're living in a scary world because people were born after September 2001, R5?

Your second paragraph doesn't logically follow your first.

by Anonymousreply 6September 11, 2019 3:52 AM

Wow, you mean time marches on and younger people don't know and don't care? Who would have guessed.? Youth...it's sooooo scary.

by Anonymousreply 7September 11, 2019 3:54 AM

[BELL RINGS]

Bring out your dead!

by Anonymousreply 8September 11, 2019 3:55 AM

Your day has come, NYC. Time for the countless" I remember" posts.

by Anonymousreply 9September 11, 2019 4:04 AM

Well, this is incredible video.

[quote] Alas, the page you requested was not found. Probably something to do with a court order or something.

by Anonymousreply 11September 11, 2019 4:09 AM

The Never Forget thing is so smug and passive aggressive. It implies that there are people who FORGET, As if.

by Anonymousreply 12September 11, 2019 4:14 AM

Let's Roll.

by Anonymousreply 13September 11, 2019 4:15 AM

You'd better trademark that quick, Lisa B., and have a total bitchfest with anyone who dares use it again without your paid approval. It's not like anyone ever said that before. Throw the family of that rugby queen under the bus while you're at it.

by Anonymousreply 14September 11, 2019 4:30 AM

I always wonder if we’ll have a repeat performance every single 9/11.

by Anonymousreply 15September 11, 2019 4:32 AM

Is this our official 9/11 thread?

by Anonymousreply 16September 11, 2019 4:35 AM

This was on its iPod:

I'm over it.

Basically, I just want to hear how Trump will make it about himself in some awful upcoming series of tweets. They should be starting in about five hours.

by Anonymousreply 18September 11, 2019 6:06 AM

We are preparing for the next attack.

by Anonymousreply 20September 11, 2019 6:18 AM

Just a hello to a few friends I went through it with, as I do every year.

by Anonymousreply 21September 11, 2019 7:48 AM

I still think Cheney planned the whole thing...I really do.

by Anonymousreply 22September 11, 2019 8:25 AM

God, has it really been a year since this?

I recently rediscovered the friend I was IMing with on AOL that morning as we discovered it was happening. He was at work in DC. I was at home in Pittsburgh. Suddenly he types "Turn on your TV."

by Anonymousreply 25September 11, 2019 10:26 AM

Never forget AOL IM

by Anonymousreply 26September 11, 2019 10:40 AM

I will call him today, r26. Neither of us is on AOL anymore.

That memorial at the WTC is hideous and beyond ugly.

by Anonymousreply 32September 11, 2019 11:22 AM

Speaking as a New Yorker who lost friends that day, I get incredibly annoyed by the whole “Never forget” thing. It’s such a stupid thing to say. I’m staying off Facebook because the griefpalooza was already in full swing yesterday. The self righteousness and thinly veiled racism will ramped up throughout the day. So many people I know just revel in this on social media; none will be found at our neighborhood memorial service tonight.

by Anonymousreply 33September 11, 2019 11:23 AM

[quote]Neither of us is on AOL anymore.

Shocked.

by Anonymousreply 34September 11, 2019 12:19 PM

WW for R33. Well said.

by Anonymousreply 35September 11, 2019 12:34 PM

I get incredibly annoyed at people who judge how others grieve and make assumptions about their experiences while discussing their own memorial practices.

Rather unbrilliant, I'd say, B-G. Rather.

by Anonymousreply 39September 11, 2019 12:55 PM

The only thing that is driving me nuts - and I assume it's everywhere of the like - is the funeral tones of the CNN team. It's sad. It didn't happen yesterday. Ramping up the woe cheapens it. Cover it, don't live it.

by Anonymousreply 40September 11, 2019 12:58 PM

Was OP's line meant to make me snicker? Because it did.

by Anonymousreply 41September 11, 2019 12:59 PM

I'm making a lasagna and taking it over to New York's house. No one wants to cook at a time like this.

by Anonymousreply 42September 11, 2019 1:00 PM

About ten years ago I was teaching a lesson about Philipe Petite, the man who walked between the Twin Towers on a high wire, and one of my students blurted out that her father died on 9/11. Turns out he had, she had not yet been born so had never met him. Imagine that being the primary thing you know most about your parent.

by Anonymousreply 43September 11, 2019 1:13 PM

I hate the way the deplorables have hijacked (no pun etc) 9/11 for their own racist agenda. It happened almost immediately after, with the lying about "the (obviously brown) employees of Dunkin Donuts cheering" etc type bullshit.

I do believe Cheney and Co were actively ignoring obvious signs of a threat so they could use an attack as an excuse to start a profitable war. Invading Iraq never made any sense unless you were making money from it or finishing what your old man started in the case of W. No doubt creating more enemies in the process.

by Anonymousreply 44September 11, 2019 1:17 PM

Never forget it was an inside job and the perps have not been punished

by Anonymousreply 45September 11, 2019 1:23 PM

DL and 9-11 is how I became acquainted with grief porn

by Anonymousreply 46September 11, 2019 1:23 PM

O bullshit, they didn't give a flying fuck about Iraq. It was the PATRIOT Act, it was YOU who were their target.

by Anonymousreply 47September 11, 2019 1:24 PM

The Patriot Act never would have passed if 9-11 had happened off camera.

by Anonymousreply 48September 11, 2019 1:27 PM

[Quote] Only a Brit would require we use British dating conventions to discuss an American event.

The largest loss after Americans were British followed by Indians. It was an international event in terms of loss of life, beyond the politics. Many in many countries grieve on 9/11.

by Anonymousreply 54September 11, 2019 8:49 PM

I fed two cats when Ground Zero was cordoned off.

[Quote] So all sons and daughters of the victims are for the first time all adults now, right?

A friend's son got his first job. Another's just entered freshman year. Both mothers remarried.

by Anonymousreply 56September 11, 2019 9:09 PM

Oh, wow, R26. That caught me off-guard, and now I'm a bit misty.

How wonderful of those people who, in any language, define the word "patriot."

I so miss the days when the United States, for all its terrible faults (slavery/Jim Crow; treatment of Native Americans, Chinese, and Japanese; United Fruit Co./Latin America, etc), was a legit beacon of freedom and the belief in second chances and self-actualization.

And while, unlike Obama, I do not overestimate the intelligence or good will of Americans, I still believe in the value of this grand experiment; and also believe the world is imperiled when America is adrift--weak internationally and fighting among ourselves.

Thank you, Hong Kong. Bless you.

by Anonymousreply 57September 11, 2019 9:37 PM

R33 is unhappy about "thinly veiled racism" while ignoring the fact that the Jihadis HATE us and everything about us.

by Anonymousreply 58September 11, 2019 10:27 PM

Do you think there’s a big difference between “Never Forget” and “Always Remember?”

by Anonymousreply 59September 11, 2019 10:28 PM

There was a notorious men's room in the WTC lower level. Lots of str8 married on their way into work.

by Anonymousreply 60September 12, 2019 5:24 AM

I hope they all got out in time, R60.

by Anonymousreply 61September 12, 2019 2:00 PM

I hope they all got off in time, R61.

by Anonymousreply 62September 18, 2019 9:30 PM

Typical ..... some claim to bw offended by the "racism" because of 9/11 (against who? Muslims, who are NOT "a race"?) when the actual perpetrators were clearly "Racist" or more accurate, HATE-filled TERRORISTS intent on killing anyone unlike them.

by Anonymousreply 63September 18, 2019 9:48 PM

I'm going to hell right with you, R62.

by Anonymousreply 64September 18, 2019 11:07 PM

Save me a stool, r62 and r64.

by Anonymousreply 65September 18, 2019 11:10 PM

I'm still astonished that so many dopey people liked the idea of build a shrine to Muhammud so close to where all those fanatical Muhammudans aimed to kill us.
