Ruth Bader Ginsburg Being Treated For Pancreatic Cancer
by Anonymous | reply 180 | November 24, 2019 11:54 AM |
Just completed 3 weeks of radiation therapy. This is NOT good.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 23, 2019 6:40 PM |
We’re fucked.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | August 23, 2019 6:41 PM |
So is another primary cancer or a metastasis from her lung cancer?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 23, 2019 6:41 PM |
I can't believe she's still working at 86. Time to retire.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 23, 2019 6:42 PM |
FUCK
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 23, 2019 6:42 PM |
She’s toast. Trump will be celebrating.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 23, 2019 6:43 PM |
This actually hurt when I saw it h TV.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 23, 2019 6:44 PM |
Pancreatic cancer on top of recently diagnosed lung cancer? And didn’t she have another cancer years ago?
She’s 85 and already looks like a puff of wind could blow her away.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 23, 2019 6:45 PM |
[quote]Time to retire.
No way, Gomer!
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 23, 2019 6:46 PM |
MSNBC has its fingers in its ears going “la la la I can’t HEAR YOU” ignoring the whole thing.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 23, 2019 6:47 PM |
Trending on Twitter. Goodbye, abortion and same-sex marriage. We're probably even going back to pre-Lawrence v. Texas days.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 23, 2019 6:49 PM |
While it is scary it is not unfixable if Trump just stacks the supreme court. Once you get a Dem majority they can vote to increase the number of judges to make it even or even stack it.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | August 23, 2019 6:49 PM |
How significant is it that she’s only had radiation (3 weeks) and no chemo I wonder?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 23, 2019 6:49 PM |
Pancreatic Cancer is usually fatal.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 23, 2019 6:53 PM |
I thought she died recently . I’m getting senile.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 23, 2019 6:54 PM |
It's crazy to me that so much of what a country is and will become in the coming decades hinges on a single justice surviving. Pete has the right idea of stacking the court with 15 judges, with five affiliated with Democrats, five with Republicans, and five apolitical justices chosen by the first 10. I wonder if RBG still feels strongly opposed to that plan in these (final) moments?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 23, 2019 6:54 PM |
R14 Not always. There are different types, some are slower growing and others are aggressive and faster-growing. But this ain’t good.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 23, 2019 6:56 PM |
JUST IN: Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been treated for pancreatic cancer in New York City, the Supreme Court announced. "The tumor was treated definitively and there is no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body," the court said. https://t.co/AAcJNZ0TDh
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 23, 2019 6:59 PM |
I really fucking hate this damn country.
Too many dumb and lazy fucks in 2016 just couldn't be bothered to vote for Hillary in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan and Florida
Not to mention the evil moronic assholes who voted for Trump
and the trolls who went third party
Do you really think the Democrats are going to get full control in 2020 election? We have to likely pick up 4 Senate seats since we'll certainly lose Dough Jones in Alabama.
If Trump gets to replace Ruth which sadly is looking very likely, this will give him that extra fucking boost with conservative voters. They will care even less now about his evil and unhinged antics. They'll love that he got 3 SC picks
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 23, 2019 7:00 PM |
[quote]”no evidence of disease elsewhere in the body," the court said
Yeah that’s what they said last time about the lung cancer.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 23, 2019 7:07 PM |
A third seat? Fuck, man.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 23, 2019 7:08 PM |
They’re popping champagne corks in the WH right now.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 23, 2019 7:09 PM |
OP your headline is incorrect. She WAS being treated for pancreatic cancer. They are announcing this to the media because she was given a diagnosis as clear.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 23, 2019 7:10 PM |
I always hate Trumpsters, but sometimes I temporarily forget how much I also hate Bernie bros. Ugh.
Here's hoping Ruth can hold out another year and a few months at least. If a Democrat is elected next November, I would like to think Dems in Congress can do the Merrick Garland-style "lame duck" obstruction.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 23, 2019 7:13 PM |
r14 She has had pancreatic cancer previously quite a few years ago and is still with us. Having said that this development is unnerving.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 23, 2019 7:16 PM |
Notorious RBG is hardcore and ain't going anywhere for the next 16 months; President Obama is waiting in the wings or Merrick Garland will get his due.
Hang in there, Justice Ginsburg; if only I could give you a few months off my mortality.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | August 23, 2019 7:17 PM |
All thanks to Susan Sarandon, Bernie Sanders and Jill Stein!
Bernie is ALREADY making third-party noises as he sees the voters are ready to reject him AGAIN!
by Anonymous | reply 27 | August 23, 2019 7:19 PM |
Satan's stooges seem to live forever!
by Anonymous | reply 28 | August 23, 2019 7:19 PM |
A Senate majority gives a little protection for confirmation as to who they could nominate. If it comes to that. We have to win 4 seats in November and lose 0. We are close, very close.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 23, 2019 7:21 PM |
Many times, when older people are facing the end of their lives, they have a mental "deadline" they want to meet - sometimes a wedding, birth of a child, one last Christmas, whatever.
I think RBG's is election night. And I believe she'll make it too.
After that, all bets are off.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 23, 2019 7:22 PM |
Updated 24 minutes ago WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court says Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has completed radiation therapy for a tumor on her pancreas and there is no evidence of the disease remaining.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 23, 2019 7:23 PM |
[quote]she was given a diagnosis as clear.
Yeah that’s what they said about the lung cancer a few weeks ago too.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 23, 2019 7:26 PM |
Goodbye Brown v Board of Education
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 23, 2019 7:30 PM |
“No evidence of disease” (NED) is not the same thing as “cured.” NED is no visible disease/tumors. It’s pretty certain she has many nasty cancer cells floating around her bloodstream looking for new organs to set up shop in. Especially since she only had radiation to the tumor itself, not chemo to kill any systemic cancer cells.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 23, 2019 7:32 PM |
I have a neighbor, late 70s, with pancreatic cancer. They told her she's too weak for surgery but she's been having chemo on and off for well over a year and she's doing well. It hasn't spread. She had breast cancer about 15 years ago.
I hope and pray and hope someone is listening to those prayers that she stays well and can hold on working until 2021 and that we have Democrats in the Senate and of course a Dem in the WH.
We have never needed a member of the SC more. Besides, I think she's a good person and want her to live and be well for that reason too.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 23, 2019 7:37 PM |
Wow she’s tough. Isn’t pancreatic and lung cancers have the 2 worst prognosis?
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 23, 2019 7:40 PM |
R35 Ginsburg has not gotten chemo though, only radiation.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 23, 2019 7:40 PM |
Wishing RBG strength and healing. Sending good vibes her way.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 23, 2019 7:44 PM |
No Mary! from me r7, I had the exact same reaction.
THIS IS WHY VOTING MATTERS people. This is the perfect example to give Millennials, independents or other left-leaning type voters who insist on cynically sitting out every major election cycle.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 23, 2019 7:47 PM |
The truth is the time to worry about the Supreme Court was the the 2016 election.
At this point it is too little, too late. That's why it was incredibly important that Hillary won, and if you didn't get that you are part of the problem.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 23, 2019 7:49 PM |
Holy hell, please don't let her die before 2020.
Please don't die before 2020, Ruth, or the Orange clown will totally fuck up this country. I hope you live another 20 years.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 23, 2019 7:50 PM |
The Senate can’t possibly vote on a Supreme Court nomination in an election year, right? That’s what McConnell said 4 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 23, 2019 7:55 PM |
Why couldn’t this be happening to Mitch McConnell instead? 😠
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 23, 2019 7:56 PM |
If RBG can hold on onto 2020 then I'm sure Moscow mitch would agree to delay Supreme Court hearings until after the election. To ensure the nominee is chosen by the will of the people.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 23, 2019 7:57 PM |
She’ll be fine. She’s a strong woman. She can hold on for two more years until Joe Biden appoints her replacement.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 23, 2019 8:02 PM |
Ruth will be dead before the year is out, sorry to say.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 23, 2019 8:06 PM |
As others have pointed out, she is NED (no evidence of disease). That is good.
They are catching this stuff because she's constantly getting follow-ups and scans because of her medical history.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 23, 2019 8:06 PM |
Today started out as such a lovely day with the news of David Koch's end. This news about RBG just ruined everything.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 23, 2019 8:08 PM |
Ladies, time for prayers....
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 23, 2019 8:08 PM |
Will the QAnon idiots who think she died months ago finally shut up now?
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 23, 2019 8:10 PM |
Pre-Lawrence V Texas? No, if we lose RBG it'll go back to pre-Dred Scott.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 23, 2019 8:13 PM |
No, R50. Because what people think is human RBG is actually a hologram being operated by Obama and Hillary in 12-hour shifts in a secret command center 500 feet below Obama's home.
Or something like that.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 23, 2019 8:16 PM |
r19 you really need to go waaaay back to the 1980's when everyone was so happy that Uncle Ronnie was giving them easy credit, even Dems, that they weren't paying attention to much of anything else. Lee Atwater's Southern Strategy continued the work of driving a racial wedge through America. The "malaise speech" Jimmy Carter talked about
[quote]The threat is nearly invisible in ordinary ways. It is a crisis of confidence. It is a crisis that strikes at the very heart and soul and spirit of our national will. We can see this crisis in the growing doubt about the meaning of our own lives and in the loss of a unity of purpose for our nation.
was prompted in part because of consumerism and materialism and how it was taking over the country. It then took deeper root in the Reagan years as greed became good or god, and has continued to this day. If you start back in from Carter's speech until now you will see truly how tragic a march it has been to this moment.
So many good people just opted out because their lives were okay enough that they didn't have to give a shit.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 23, 2019 8:17 PM |
The most concerning thing about the SC statement is that, once again, RBG has been declared disease-free. If they had just said that the cancer was being controlled or was temporarily in remission or something like that I would feel more optimistic
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 23, 2019 8:17 PM |
r48 Why can't we have nice things?
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 23, 2019 8:18 PM |
Goodbye Marbury v Madison.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 23, 2019 8:21 PM |
She's beaten lung cancer, colon cancer and pancreatic cancer (twice). Probably the only person in existence to do so.
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 23, 2019 8:32 PM |
OMG, we are sooo fucked! Will Trump get to nominate another judge?

But your immune system is fucking weak. She could die of a common cold or flu at this point, fall and winter is coming!
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 23, 2019 8:39 PM |
Those who voted for Bernie is responsible for this! Do not vote for Bernie! Vote for Biden!!! Biden can beat Trump! Bernie cannot!
yes, Biden is old and confused but if he surrounds himself with good people, we will be fine! VOTE Biden!!!
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 23, 2019 8:40 PM |
[quote]As others have pointed out, she is NED (no evidence of disease
As others have pointed out, NED does NOT mean “cured.” No visible tumors but she likely has many little cancer cells floating around which are not visible but will come back as more tumors. Especially since she did not have chemo to eradicate those cells, only radiation.
In fact I would bet the reason for that is that she’s Stage IV and they don’t give chemo to Stage IV cancers because it’s no use at that point and the toxicity of chemo outweighs any benefit it could have. They do radiation only at that point and it’s palliative, not curative.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | August 23, 2019 8:45 PM |
Hold out until next year, RBG!!!
by Anonymous | reply 63 | August 23, 2019 8:47 PM |
Well maybe if that retard Odumba put a Democrat in there when that Scalia cunt died then we wouldn’t be in this predicament of worrying about all these republicans in the Supreme Court.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | August 23, 2019 8:48 PM |
so sad...sad last days...

by Anonymous | reply 67 | August 23, 2019 8:50 PM |
R67. He didn’t even TRY!
by Anonymous | reply 68 | August 23, 2019 8:51 PM |
R66, that old cunt recently said something nasty about Hillary that if she were elected, she would have started a war or something...it was trending on twitter last week.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | August 23, 2019 8:52 PM |
r68 you're nuts. And clearly braindead.
by Anonymous | reply 70 | August 23, 2019 8:55 PM |
R70 And you’re a stupid cunt apologist.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | August 23, 2019 8:59 PM |
Let’s just call like we see it, she should have retired while Reid held he Senate under Obama. She really screwed over the country trying to wait for Hillary to take over the WH. Obama would have replaced her with a 50 somrbing woman saving us all this unnecessary stress. Republicans don’t play around with fait. They see an opportunity and they take it. People see her as a hero, I see her and many of the dinasourse ruling DC as selfish powerhungry assholes. I wish she the best in recovery. She has a great legacy, but she’s really screwed that legacy by staying around too long. Hopefully she holds out till 2021.

And that’s assuming the retard Trump is out of office. But with the amount of stupid people in the US, I’m not holding my breath. It blows me away how so many of his equally retarded supporters absolutely refuse to admit he’s awful.
by Anonymous | reply 74 | August 23, 2019 9:02 PM |

Neither of them can beat Trump.

I read that the many foreign leaders are expecting Trump to be re-elected! (sob!)
by Anonymous | reply 78 | August 23, 2019 9:12 PM |
R78 Of course they expect it. Look at all the fucking retards we have in the USA that are still supporting him.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | August 23, 2019 9:16 PM |
[quote]Hold out until next year, RBG!!!
They’ll wheel her out and prop her up in a chair every day once the Court reconvenes in October, I’m sure.
by Anonymous | reply 80 | August 23, 2019 9:17 PM |
If she had radiation only... it’s strictly palliative to reduce the size of the tumor, for pain control and to limit biliary obstruction.
by Anonymous | reply 81 | August 23, 2019 9:24 PM |
Yep, R81. Exactly.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | August 23, 2019 9:28 PM |
Even if she’s still alive, there’s no way she’s competent in this condition and at her age to be making Supreme Court decisions.
Nobody over age 70 should be in government, period.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | August 23, 2019 9:31 PM |
She needs to be put on life support until next year Nov. Just in case by some miracle we get a Democratic POTUS.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | August 23, 2019 9:36 PM |
Tell that to Bernie and Biden, r83. That's the biggest case for both of them dropping out.
by Anonymous | reply 85 | August 23, 2019 9:38 PM |
R83 I totally agree. It’s ridiculous to have 86-year olds on the Supreme court and letting them stay on as long as they want.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | August 23, 2019 9:39 PM |
Most first world countries don’t elect geriatrics to lead them. The US is “special”.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | August 23, 2019 9:41 PM |
Maybe a mandatory retirement at 75 years old.
Back when the constitution was written people did not live as long as they do now. We do need to amend for modern times.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | August 23, 2019 9:44 PM |
When she gets replaced by a very young bigoted Rethug, then it’s time to start looking to emigrate.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | August 23, 2019 9:49 PM |
R89 I know that whenever a shitty person is elected president that people like to shout “I’m leaving the country!” And then of course never follow through. However, I am very seriously considering leaving the US if this cunt Trump is elected again because this country is going straight to hell at light speed and I can’t imagine dealing with this another four years.

by Anonymous | reply 92 | August 23, 2019 10:20 PM |
I have no doubt Mitch McConnell will not confirm a replacement because, you know, it's an election year and he did set that precedent....
by Anonymous | reply 93 | August 23, 2019 10:22 PM |
r93 he's already said he would confirm a replacement, like we needed any proof he is a huge hypocrite.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | August 23, 2019 10:27 PM |
Lol r52 that's insane but strangely believable that some folk may believe that conspiracy theory!
by Anonymous | reply 95 | August 23, 2019 10:27 PM |
Alex Trebek has stage 4 pancreatic cancer and he won't around in 2021. And he had chemo and radiation.

Alex Trebek is a Republican.

R99 No, dear. Someone who unfortunately just knows multiple people who have had pancreatic cancer (and other cancers). Just because you "get over" cancer once doesn't mean it's not going to come back and get you. And RBG has gone through several of her nine lives already with this.

Democrats need to learn. Everyone is complaining, rightfully, about RBG’s age and how she’s too old. But then the two Presidential frontrunners are Biden and Bernie...each older than dirt. And don’t forget youthful Nancy who is in charge of the House at age 79.
People need to wake up and start voting for some Gen Xers. The elderlies have been in power far too long.
I’m supporting Kamala or Pete for President.

Whether or not she stayed on too long, we need her now and to be safe I'll say until after January 2021. As a group we need to send her good wishes. If Trump wins again we will have more to worry about than the SCOTUS. It will be the end of the United States. If he wins you have to know that Putin is fully in charge.

Stubborn old hag.
by Anonymous | reply 130 | August 24, 2019 3:48 AM |
First of all, I said on one of the last "Ruth is all clear from cancer" thread that it was rubbish. I have honestly lost count at the amount of times she's been treated for a fatal cancer and then the doctors go "but she's all clear" or whatever. It's BS. Unless RBG is literally not human and is some sort of superhuman, there is absolutely NO WAY she can keep going on with the amount of cancer she has had... Think of how fast Patrick Swayze went, and he was what, a THIRD of this hag's age?! And I'm sorry, but that's what she is!! This selfish hag has fucked everything up. She should have quit under Obama as she was already VERY old and had SEVERAL bouts of cancer then. It's absolutely ridiculous that she wasn't FORCED into retirement then!! No other country allows people who are at DEATH'S DOOR to keep such an important position!

It's pathetic that so many people's civil rights/equal rights/human rights rest on the fragile shoulders of one octogenarian. This has to stop.
by Anonymous | reply 133 | August 24, 2019 6:21 AM |
The thing about cancer is that it grows best in cells that divide rapidly. Very few cells divide rapidly in people over 80, therefore cancer generally grows more slowly in the elderly than in young people.
From an NIH bulletin:
"Cancer of the elderly exhibits slower growth because their body already has a slower rate of cell development than those of young ones"
We all need to send positive thoughts in RBG's direction praying for slow cell division!!

[quote] Democrats need to learn. Everyone is complaining, rightfully, about RBG’s age and how she’s too old. But then the two Presidential frontrunners are Biden and Bernie...each older than dirt. And don’t forget youthful Nancy who is in charge of the House at age 79.
[quote] Whether or not she stayed on too long, we need her now and to be safe I'll say until after January 2021.
Are the both of you retarded? I think you are. Yes Biden and Bernie are old, they also don't have PANCREATIC CANCER

One of our dearest and closest friends - a kind and truly saintly person - just passed from cancer yet this vile hideous satanist lives on and on and on and on.
Your tax dollars at work!!

Urgh. I had a dream only last week that RBG had passed away - not that that means anything at all, but I woke up feeling like shit after that dream. Hopefully she'll just keep going on - she appears to have great drive and stamina.
R12 The dems could also arrange a couple of 'accidents'. You know breaks do fail, husbands die......advice given to Dolores Claiborne.

I’m sorry but 80 should be the cut off for any VERY IMPORTANT job. If this lady dies soon we’re fucked. And look at the geriatrics being forced upon us in the upcoming election. Fuck this shit. These people should be in an old age home.
by Anonymous | reply 141 | August 24, 2019 7:39 PM |
Old bat should have retired years ago. We badly need a mandatory retirement age on the SC to prevent delusional old crones like this from landing the country in situations like we’re in now.

I hope the Dems are ready to play Weekend at Notorious RBG's during one whole fucking year. Motorize the arms, legs, eyelids, mouth, everything. By the time the Conservatives on the SC realize they've been screwed, it'll hopefully be 2021.
by Anonymous | reply 144 | August 24, 2019 8:03 PM |
Take her to the taxidermist and have her stuffed and mounted when she kicks. Wheel her out and prop her up in a chair until 2021. No one will notice the difference.

Please stop directing this bad energy to this woman. Save your hate until with any justice in this world a Democrat is in the White House and Democrats are a majority in the Senate, please God, in 2021. Then you can hate her all you want. You know if she's still alive she will quit on her own if the SCOTUS is once again in safe hands. For now I wish with all my heart that she once again survives.
And don't forget to vote for whoever is nominated for president and the Senate who has a D next to their name. Please don't care who it is. If he or she is a Democrat and you have one shred of decency please vote for him or her. It takes so little to save this country and the lives of so many, maybe even your own. We need to make sure we are never in this situation again, where the life of one poor, sick elderly woman is so important to everything.

I said if things were safe, like no Trump, no Republican run Senate. Everything safely Democrat. Then she will quit. If heaven forbid Trump wins again and the Senate stays Republican controlled it won't matter. Just kiss everything you and I care about goodbye. Be prepared to see armies of hungry, homeless, sick and dying people all over the streets of this country. See many more mass killings, no place will be safe. Be ready to see even the already lousy food/water supply we have turn to pure poison. See the animal kingdom be destroyed. If these past years have been the way the Republicans act when they still have something to lose, just think of what they'll do when they have nothing to lose.

What do you think will happen when they take SS, SSI, SSDI, food stamps, medical care and every thing else that helps people barely survive away? What will happen when the gun situation gets much worse, when with instigation from Trump the race wars escalate. Think how dangerous out food and water supply is now, imagine when the rest of the regulations are removed and also removed from keeping products safe.

They will do what they did before those things, it will go back to the private sector where historically it has done a much better job. You only have to look to the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities to see their success rate to the state's blatant failure rate.

r169 is an idiot. Before the minimal safety net we have, it was routine for indigent people to starve to death. You think the Catholics did a great job, read about the Magdalene Laundries in Ireland. The salvation army on record as being unwilling to help gay people. Are you really that stupid or are you some sort of paid troll? There are also economies of scale. What happens if a flood destroys hundreds of thousands of acres of farmland in one state, and you're expecting the local religious charities to fill the gap? They won't have money either. The advantage of having a large country with diverse climates and diverse industries is that there are enough resources from undamaged areas to help with areas that are damaged. We're undergoing hurricane watches now. Money collected from areas that don't experience hurricanes are going to help areas that are affected. In survey after survey, the happiest people on the planet are those in which the government has a sturdy, well-supported safety net for all of its citizens.
