Why is homelessness exploding around the country?

It never used to be like this, so what is the root cause of so many people living on the streets.

The prediction of Typhoid Fever and Bubonic Plague hitting our cities. Watching the experts talk about it in this video, is terrifying.

Will we ever be able to contain/control the problem?

Opioids

I don't remember the homeless problem being this bad, even 20 years ago.

I would love to see someone do a documentary about how this problem got so bad. It's in every big city across the country. Not just Los Angeles.

Add almost 40 years of diminished public mental health assistance to meth, heroin and opioid addiction and we have the situation we have today. Not helpful are the taunts from the right about this being the fault of the left. Nice deflection, as always!

It's the concentrated wealth. They own everything and blame it on poor people through the media.

Because you know, poor people have all the power and make all the decisions that affect us all. The poors are very powerful that way.

Republicans

What about the Depression? Was it not bad then?

I can see how it would happen. Rentals are very expensive. People who had no business having a mortgage were encouraged to get them. Etc.

A small portion of these homeless really don’t want to be burdened with the rules and responsibilities. Some days I can’t blame them.

Short answer - wealth disparity. Long answer - republicans and their laser focused policies to increase wealth disparity.

This troll bait has been and will be a banning bonanza.

Ask yourself - what is the source of this story? What is the agenda of the OP? How does it play into tropes about class and politics?

If you want to continue to have a country you need to get a LOT smarter about how you respond to things like this.
