Robert De Niro Sues Assistant

[quote]The company alleges that during a four-day period in January, she watched 55 episodes of “Friends.”

[quote]According to the suit, filed on Saturday in state court in New York, Robinson was hired as an assistant to De Niro in 2008. She was later promoted to “vice president of production and finance” at the loan-out company, and her 2019 salary was $300,000.

Girlfriend was batshit crazy!

This is what most millennial cunts do at work

by Anonymousreply 1August 20, 2019 9:28 PM

So she stopped putting out for Robert and he got pissed. I'm sure he didn't mind her doing those things when she gave him what he wanted.

by Anonymousreply 2August 20, 2019 9:36 PM

Indeed she sounds batshit crazy, r1, but how did it take them 11 years to realize she was a problem employee?

by Anonymousreply 3August 20, 2019 9:36 PM

Watching 55 episodes of Friends is likely what caused the grifter to go batshit crazy.

by Anonymousreply 4August 20, 2019 9:39 PM

One of the comments puts the numbers in perspective. This seems like nitpicking for what were likely considered perks of the job.

[quote]$12,696.65 at Paola’s restaurant over a two-year period works out to $122 per week. $9,000 at Dean & DeLuca and Whole Foods over the same period works out to $87 per week. $32,000 for Uber and taxi rides over the same period works out to $308 per week. Does not sound like much in Hollywood.

by Anonymousreply 5August 20, 2019 9:39 PM

I could never be an assistant to one of these movie stars. I'll try to find the article someone wrote about being a PA to a star.

by Anonymousreply 6August 20, 2019 9:41 PM

[quote]Watching 55 episodes of Friends is likely what caused the grifter to go batshit crazy.

Not to mention the following:

[quote]Over another four-day period in March, she allegedly watched 20 episodes of “Arrested Development” and 10 episodes of “Schitt’s Creek.”

by Anonymousreply 7August 20, 2019 9:41 PM

The ex of one of my best friends was a PA for one of the Jacksons in GA, it was almost a normal job according to him. Nothing that spectacular going on.

Tito?

LaToya?

Jermaine?

Jessie?

This is an old article by a former PA. She claims the client was an actress but I think it was Madonna

Clearly they need to be terminating the employment of whoever her immediate superior was. Why did they allow so many improper charges on her company credit card go through for such a long time? Was no one in the accounting office paying any attention to how much money this woman was spending until the very end.

I approved expense reports and reviewed company credit card bills for many years. When I saw disallowed items, such as personal toiletries, on someone's expense report it didn't take much effort to deny the charge or deduct the charges from the employee's paycheck if it was on a company card.

by Anonymousreply 11August 20, 2019 9:55 PM

Yeah, this sounds more like retribution for something unstated. I'm curious what her lawyer's filed response will be.

by Anonymousreply 12August 20, 2019 9:57 PM

R11 She had the power to approve her own expenses. There was noone above her who checked anything she did.

by Anonymousreply 13August 20, 2019 9:58 PM

r13 the bookkeeper or CPA who handled the tax returns would have checked them. All of those expenses are business expenses and are taxed at different rates.

by Anonymousreply 14August 20, 2019 10:00 PM

It will blow over. They are just on a break.

by Anonymousreply 15August 20, 2019 10:04 PM

R13 Then Robert de Niro needs to learn how to properly set up a company. Giving someone the power to approve her own T&E reports is just asking for trouble. But then, this is a company run by show business types, most of whom have the management ability of squirrels.

by Anonymousreply 16August 20, 2019 10:07 PM

Heh I've had several jobs where a TV played in the background. One was a costume shop where we couldn't see having CNN on. Music always lead to arguments so we had innocuous TV shows playing.

by Anonymousreply 17August 20, 2019 10:10 PM

She was the one in charge. That's why they are suing her. She was VP of Production and Finance. She probably reported straight into De Niro.

by Anonymousreply 18August 20, 2019 10:13 PM

I worked with a guy who watched TV constantly while at work.

by Anonymousreply 19August 20, 2019 10:17 PM

Question People Should Ask: How does one go from being one of De Niro's assistants to "Vice President of Production and Finance?"

So she worked with him and then as the VP for 11 years and people JUST NOW discovered that there was something wrong? There's something going on here. I'm not saying that she didn't spend hours watching Netflix, I'm saying they knew but didn't care until they/he wanted her gone.

She should have been fired for lying about vacation time and other random things but it's doubtful that all of this came out of the clear blue sky in the past year.

[quote]All of those expenses are business expenses and are taxed at different rates.

Exactly R14. Those expenses were likely okay until they were no longer okay as in they wanted her gone. Even if she could approve her own expenses someone else besides her would have seen it.

[quote]This is what most millennial cunts do at work

The last person I knew that did this sort of thing R1 was a boomer who had given up working at work and was just coasting towards retirement. Not everything has to turn into a "let's bash millennials" diatribe.

by Anonymousreply 20August 20, 2019 10:19 PM

So I'll be the one to ask: was she black and was she more than just an employee to him?

by Anonymousreply 21August 20, 2019 10:20 PM

I had a comptroller who we found out was playing solitaire on his PC for hours a day. I had an IT guy go in one day while he was at lunch and remove all the games from his PC. I didn't say a word to him about it, but someone in the accounting department apparently told him later on. A few weeks later he resigned. Good riddance I said.

by Anonymousreply 22August 20, 2019 10:21 PM

Damn, watching tv on the job is a terrible thing to do.

by Anonymousreply 23August 20, 2019 10:23 PM

“I'm curious what her lawyer's filed response will be.”

We intend to prove that Mr. De Niro is a very mean Focker.

by Anonymousreply 24August 20, 2019 10:23 PM

R22 you should have been direct about it. Although if someone is doing that they are probably already unhappy.

by Anonymousreply 25August 20, 2019 10:48 PM

No R25, he was in his late 50's (this was 17 years ago). As comptroller he was in a highly paid position. the entire accounting department worked under him. The fact that he was that high up in the chain was the reason I didn't say anything directly to him. He would have been shamed, and that was not my aim. He was just lazy and not interested in putting in a good day's work.

by Anonymousreply 26August 20, 2019 10:56 PM

That was weird, were you his boss?

by Anonymousreply 27August 20, 2019 11:01 PM

He had 2 bosses. Me and the head comptroller in the corporate headquarters. Neither one of us could fire him unless the other one agreed.

by Anonymousreply 28August 20, 2019 11:12 PM

What's interesting is how many people can do their job while spending hours doing everything else. Maybe most jobs are simply useless and don't require the time corporations, and we as a society, have decided to pretend is actually needed for them. In other words, bullshit jobs. At this stage, the majority of jobs are probably useless, at least the majority of hours.

I can’t imagine being relaxed enough at work to watch a tv show or play a video game.

by Anonymousreply 30August 20, 2019 11:24 PM

There's a reason it's called "work". Employees are paid to perform functions that benefit the company, not play video games and watch TV.

by Anonymousreply 31August 20, 2019 11:32 PM

and yet, it seems a lot of times in reality, employees are paid to be there, whether they're really needed or not. Some of it is just a game of let's pretend everyone is really needed 8 hours, or 9, or 10. And in turn, let's pretend to work 8 or 9 or 10 hours a day when it really is completely unnecessary, except in the corporate sense of looking like you give a shit when you clearly don't.

by Anonymousreply 32August 20, 2019 11:34 PM

Stupid bitch screwed herself out of $300k job by being greedy and lazy. Dummy!

by Anonymousreply 33August 20, 2019 11:43 PM

When I managed a development team I would often walk in to the developer room and find a few entitled millennials on Facebook or Twitter, far more often than not. I doubt they spent more than four hours a day actually doing their jobs.

by Anonymousreply 34August 20, 2019 11:45 PM

I’ll bet she’ll be filing a #MeToo against Mr. DeNiro soon. Seems like all her extra expenses were A-OK for years, until she decided she didn’t want to continue fucking him.

by Anonymousreply 35August 20, 2019 11:53 PM

[quote]I can’t imagine being relaxed enough at work to watch a tv show or play a video game.

Not everyone is a “Type A”.

by Anonymousreply 36August 20, 2019 11:54 PM

[quote]There's a reason it's called "work". Employees are paid to perform functions that benefit the company, not play video games and watch TV.

Some jobs involve periods of downtime where there might not be anything that needs done or addressed at that time.

Not everyone is doing manual labor for eight hours nonstop at work.

by Anonymousreply 37August 20, 2019 11:56 PM

Playing video games or watching Netflix for hours a day are not "periods of downtime". That's stealing from your employer.

by Anonymousreply 38August 20, 2019 11:59 PM

She watched those episodes on a Saturday...fuck that, if I am expected to work on the weekend, I am doing the bare minimum.

And yeah, if DeNiro hired her she was almost definitely a POC and they are trying to fuck with her now just because they can. No way that she got away with that for two years without anyone noticing.

by Anonymousreply 39August 21, 2019 12:05 AM

That article is stupidly written. It says they're suing her for binge watching Netflix and watching multiple episodes of Friends. First of all you can't sue someone for that. All you can do is tell them not to do it anymore or fire them. They are suing her for theft by conversion (using the company credit card on personal expenses), and theft of petty cash for personal expenses.

by Anonymousreply 40August 21, 2019 12:13 AM

Poor Bobby D. His marriage breaks up and he loses this chick.

by Anonymousreply 41August 21, 2019 12:17 AM

That she tried to cash out all of the vacation days that she already used is hilarious. And she stole travel miles! Good for her, I hope she wins.

by Anonymousreply 42August 21, 2019 12:17 AM

Sounds like a Millennial. They have the worse work habits.

by Anonymousreply 43August 21, 2019 12:29 AM

[quote]This is an old article by a former PA. She claims the client was an actress but I think it was Madonna

The woman in that article sounds too gracious to have been Madonna. Also, would anyone refer (even in semi-fiction) to Madonna as being "an actress"?

by Anonymousreply 44August 21, 2019 12:33 AM

R44 if they did it would immediately be followed by laughter and snorting.

by Anonymousreply 45August 21, 2019 12:38 AM

R44- I loved that article and that was certainly not Madonna!!

Article was written in 2003, so presume this chick was an assistant in the 98-2002 era?

There are some clues. She spent time in UK, but it sounded like she was from America.

She DID sound like a big star-

I am trying to think of a star who lived in there UK during that timeframe....

The description also made them sound older- not younger. I keep thinking FRAU...

by Anonymousreply 46August 21, 2019 1:10 AM

R46 Well, the are references to the theatre, and also the actress was preparing to film love scenes for her new movie... So perhaps Nicole Kidman around the time of filming Eyes Wide Shut?

by Anonymousreply 47August 21, 2019 1:42 AM

I got a Gwyneth vibe...like Mrs. M was Mrs. Chris Martin.

by Anonymousreply 48August 21, 2019 11:30 AM

De Niro expects us to take advice on who is to run the country but he can't run his own employees.

by Anonymousreply 49August 21, 2019 11:33 AM

She's certainly been very good at keeping any photos of her off the internet. I can't find a single verifiable photo of her anywhere.

by Anonymousreply 50August 21, 2019 11:54 AM

She was given the company credit card and they let her make these charges all that time without properly supervising her spending. I can't see any court convicting her of anything unless she signed an agreement promising to use the card only for company purchases. And obviously the binge watching of Netlix and "Friends" is not something she can be sued for.

They have no one to blame but de Niro and the senior management of the company.

And besides, I can only imagine what they'd find if they looked at the charges on de Niro's company credit card and any company credit cards held by senior management. Employees more often than not emulate what they see or know their superiors are doing.

by Anonymousreply 51August 21, 2019 11:58 AM

R51 have you ever had a job?!? That’s not how it works.

by Anonymousreply 52August 21, 2019 4:08 PM

R42 is a token frau

by Anonymousreply 53August 21, 2019 4:27 PM

[R51] have you ever had a job?!? That’s not how it works.

Bullshit!

by Anonymousreply 54August 21, 2019 4:33 PM

Your story made me chuckle, R24.

by Anonymousreply 55August 21, 2019 4:34 PM

R42 here...not a frau, and also unclear how rooting for this lady to get one over on Bobby D. makes me frau-ish (frau-esque?). At any rate your comment is FRAUdulent.

by Anonymousreply 56August 21, 2019 9:02 PM

[quote]This is an old article by a former PA. She claims the client was an actress but I think it was Madonna

I think the actress in the article at R10 is Gwyneth Paltrow.

by Anonymousreply 57August 21, 2019 10:55 PM

BUMP!

Anyone know why De Niro is involved in so many lawsuits and legal problems in NY lately?

by Anonymousreply 58August 23, 2019 12:34 PM

Maybe he's broke...

by Anonymousreply 59August 23, 2019 1:08 PM

R10 - Madge is known to have an outwardly charming personality?

by Anonymousreply 60August 23, 2019 1:18 PM

If De Niro is broke, that would honestly make me sad.

He has a lot of business interests/investments (many outside the realm of the film business) that employ a decent number of people.

It would be sad if that all went away....

by Anonymousreply 61August 23, 2019 1:39 PM

Wealthy people who don't pay attention to their finances (as he appears not to have been with this woman) can often find their money squandered or outright pilfered if they aren't careful.

by Anonymousreply 62August 23, 2019 2:26 PM

[quote] Maybe he's broke...

More likely he is an angry alcoholic

by Anonymousreply 63August 24, 2019 2:31 AM

The latest kompromat by the Trump kkkamp. And you know it.

Lawrence O'Donnell (the meltdown tape); Rachel Maddow (conservative group suing her for millions); Stormy Daniels (Columbus, OH vice squad arrests her at show); Michael Avenatti (big, Big trouble).; Kathy Griffin (almost imprisoned for decapitation gag); Chris Cuomo (baited by a guy calling him Fredo); Joy Reid (anti-gay internet rants surface)...

This is what Trump spends his day planning: revenge.

by Anonymousreply 66October 4, 2019 1:22 AM

Don't you think that's a bit of a stretch, R66? She's worked for DeNiro for over a decade-- long before anyone dreamed Trump would ever be president.

by Anonymousreply 67October 4, 2019 1:25 AM

It's a white trans woman

by Anonymousreply 68October 4, 2019 9:27 PM

[quote]“De Niro communicated in a hostile, abusive, and intimidating manner with Ms. Robinson. He attacked her in gender terms, calling her a ‘b—ch’ and a ‘brat.’ In speaking to Ms. Robinson, he called his female business partner a ‘c--t’ and referred to his executive assistants as ‘the girls.’ De Niro would unleash tirades against Ms. Robinson – often while he was intoxicated – in which he denigrated, berated, bullied, and hurled expletives at her,” the suit reads. De Niro made vulgar, inappropriate, and gendered comments to Ms. Robinson. He would joke with Ms. Robinson about his Viagra prescription. De Niro smirked to Ms. Robinson about his young paramour, who was around Ms. Robinson’s age. De Niro directed Ms. Robinson to imagine him on the toilet. He told Ms. Robinson that doing manual labor would ‘make a man out of you.’ De Niro suggested that Ms. Robinson could get pregnant using sperm from her (married) male co-worker.”

If this is true, he sounds as bad his nemesis DJT.
