Jessica Lange’s scream at the end, though.
GOOP
by Anonymous | reply 1 | August 19, 2019 2:56 PM |
That lead guy looks like Fred Armisen. This is never a good thing.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | August 19, 2019 3:00 PM |
You could never have heard anything about the program, but the trailer would tell anyone it is a Ryan Murphy show. Not a criticism, just an observation.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | August 19, 2019 3:12 PM |
This looks so fucking good. Between this and Pose Season 2 he’s having a killer year.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | August 19, 2019 3:16 PM |
Do you think Goop has a clue who any of the other people on this show are? She never knows whose in the Marvel movies with her.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | August 19, 2019 3:17 PM |
I'm sure she knows who Ben Platt is. His father is a huge producer.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | August 19, 2019 3:19 PM |
Gwyneth Platrow and Jessica Lange were in that HUSH movie together.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | August 19, 2019 3:22 PM |
Streisand turned it down.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | August 19, 2019 3:24 PM |
Trumpsters will think it's a documentary of Mayor Pete.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | August 19, 2019 3:24 PM |
I can’t wait!
by Anonymous | reply 11 | August 19, 2019 3:27 PM |
Leave it to Murphy to make a teen movie plot, like it was used in Election, even more epic!
by Anonymous | reply 13 | August 19, 2019 3:43 PM |
It looks like this will be even darker, R13.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | August 19, 2019 3:48 PM |
This will be devastating for Mayor Pete.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | August 19, 2019 3:52 PM |
Oh, to be a fly on the wall when Jessica Lange read the script. Her laughs must've shaken the whole block.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | August 19, 2019 3:58 PM |
R15 how do you mean?
by Anonymous | reply 17 | August 19, 2019 3:58 PM |
Lange looks good. I'll watch it.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | August 19, 2019 3:58 PM |
That was Martina winking, wasn't it?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | August 19, 2019 3:59 PM |
I can see Streisand not wanting to play a gargoyle, but c'mon Miss Jessica, I love ya but not every role now has to be one. Murphy get this legend a nice classy role next, she's due.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | August 19, 2019 4:14 PM |
I want to buttmunch Ms. Lange.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | August 19, 2019 4:14 PM |
I always thought the GLEE pilot was a massive ripoff of ELECTION. It must be Murphy's favorite movie.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | August 19, 2019 4:23 PM |
R22 I only watched the first season of GLEE and recall that the early episodes were pretty similar to ELECTION now that you mention it. Rachel, in particular, has to be a Tracy Flick knockoff.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | August 19, 2019 4:27 PM |
Lange is trending.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | August 19, 2019 4:28 PM |
Also, the multiple narrators.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | August 19, 2019 4:29 PM |
Looks good. I'm here for the gay storyline.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | August 19, 2019 5:18 PM |
[Quote]She never knows whose in the Marvel movies with her.
Oh dear. Whose is possession. In this case you meant to write who's as in who is.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | August 19, 2019 5:20 PM |
Weird how my English is better than most Americans' and English isn't even my first language.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | August 19, 2019 5:22 PM |
R10 I'm not a Trumpster but the plot did subtly remind me of Mayor Pete. That's not necessarily a bad thing.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | August 19, 2019 5:24 PM |
R31 your English is too good that clearly indicates that you are foreign!
by Anonymous | reply 33 | August 19, 2019 5:25 PM |
R31 many Brits and Aussies and Canadians speak bad English, as well. Why single out Americans?
by Anonymous | reply 34 | August 19, 2019 5:26 PM |
I mean I get people can see Mayor Pete because it involves a gay white man who wants to President, but that is pretty superficial. Just because he is the only one who has done it so far.
It's like people saying Kamala reminds them of Obama based on basically nothing more than their race.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | August 19, 2019 5:36 PM |
Lange stole the trailer. Is it true Barbra turned down this role? She’ll probably regret that when Jessica picks up her Emmy.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | August 19, 2019 5:36 PM |
Yes Steisand said she didn't want the committment of doing a TV series. Can't blame the bitch for being careful in how she spends her time.
Gwyneth actually turned it down at first as well, she didnt want the committment.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | August 19, 2019 5:38 PM |
R35 Kamala and Obama are not a good analogy. They're both real and she's female, he's male.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | August 19, 2019 5:40 PM |
Pete isnt as rich as the kid in this show though, right?
by Anonymous | reply 39 | August 19, 2019 5:42 PM |
Pete is the son of a professor, a comfortable upbringing, but not rich. And he was stuck in Indiana, this takes place in California.
Really the supposed "similarities" are quite superficial.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | August 19, 2019 5:46 PM |
So the only similarities are white and gay? Wow they are practically the same person.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | August 19, 2019 5:50 PM |
Streisand did mention it was a very good script, so she seemed interested for a bit. Just not interested enough to move out of the Cinnabon in her basement to shoot it on location somewhere.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | August 19, 2019 5:52 PM |
So Ryan did all that sucking up in Bab's basement for nothing? Although, she did fix him a soft-serve cone.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | August 19, 2019 5:55 PM |
[quote]r37 Yes Steisand said she didn't want the committment of doing a TV series. Can't blame the bitch for being careful in how she spends her time.
She’s limbering up for her big return to the silver screen in GYPSY.
It is known.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | August 19, 2019 6:00 PM |
only one white gay politician at a time, girls, only one!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | August 19, 2019 6:05 PM |
I can't wait until Streisand is 94 and still playing Madison Square Garden and teasing about her return to film in Gypsy. It'll be tragic and hilarious.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | August 19, 2019 6:31 PM |
It's tragic and hilarious NOW
by Anonymous | reply 47 | August 19, 2019 6:35 PM |
Are there any scripted programs that attempt to be realistic anymore? It’s either camp or fantasy, neither of which interest me.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | August 19, 2019 6:48 PM |
R48 Yes. Try "Gameface" with the wonderful Roisin Conaty. Also "After Life" with Ricky Gervais.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | August 19, 2019 7:06 PM |
I don't understand the trailer. Are they trying to make Ben a high school student? He's got an obvious bald spot.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | August 19, 2019 7:12 PM |
I had a bald spot in high school.
by Anonymous | reply 51 | August 19, 2019 7:14 PM |
Yes the first season takes place with 25 year old Platt as a high schooler, the next season he will be older.
Ryan Murphy has said the idea is that he is running for a progressively higher office every season.
by Anonymous | reply 52 | August 19, 2019 7:23 PM |
Ben still looks like he could be Gabriel Carteris son.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | August 19, 2019 7:35 PM |
Ben looks like he could be Gabrielle Carteris' father.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | August 19, 2019 7:37 PM |
[quote]R51 I had a bald spot in high school.
So did I ... my [italic]mussy!
by Anonymous | reply 55 | August 19, 2019 7:38 PM |
R54, well get back to me when you have a Tony, Emmy and Grammy.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | August 19, 2019 7:52 PM |
[R37], Perhaps Goop will eventually feel the need to Consciously Uncouple from the production down the line...
by Anonymous | reply 57 | August 19, 2019 8:02 PM |
[quote] Yes Steisand said she didn't want the committment of doing a TV series.
Jeez. It's a mini-series. Her scenes would have probably been filmed within two weeks tops. Less than an actual movie.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | August 19, 2019 8:05 PM |
Goop's big dicked producer husband Falchuk is Murphy's partner on this. Being the ultimate size queen, she'll stick around.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | August 19, 2019 8:06 PM |
[quote] [R54], well get back to me when you have a Tony, Emmy and Grammy.
He got a Grammy for being a singer on a cast album along with several other people. He got a DAYTIME Emmy for singing on a morning show.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | August 19, 2019 8:10 PM |
Everyone is 8-20 years older than the characters they're playing. Except GOOP, now relegated to "mother roles."
by Anonymous | reply 61 | August 19, 2019 8:13 PM |
R61 GOOP is probably raking in $350k+ per episode for her “mother role”
by Anonymous | reply 62 | August 19, 2019 8:16 PM |
I was excited for this, but the trailer did not look good to me.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | August 19, 2019 8:18 PM |
It looks like Ryan has regressed to his Popular-era bitchery.
If I’m not incorrect, this was done under Murphy’s deal with Fox which is now Disney. So I wonder if that more or less means it’s a one seasoner as Disney doesn’t want to sell to anyone but Disney and Murphy has a Netflix deal he has to fulfill.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | August 19, 2019 9:32 PM |
I'm underwhelmed by the trailer. And I don't know if I want to watch a whole show about bitchy, conniving queens.
They make me sad.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | August 19, 2019 9:47 PM |
Agree with R65. But I’ll give it a chance just because it’s Ms. Lange. x
by Anonymous | reply 66 | August 19, 2019 9:52 PM |
How would it have been done under Murphy's deal for Fox if it's on Netflix? Netflix develops their own shows; they only put their names on other shows that come from other countries.
by Anonymous | reply 67 | August 20, 2019 2:42 AM |
[quote]I can't wait until Streisand is 94 and still playing Madison Square Garden and teasing about her return to film in Gypsy. It'll be tragic and hilarious.
You realize she's now planning to play June?
by Anonymous | reply 68 | August 20, 2019 2:55 AM |
[Quote]Netflix develops their own shows; they only put their names on other shows that come from other countries.
This isn't true. Most of Netflix's shows were not actually produced by them. Netflix buys the rights to the show, but the actual production is handled by a production studio. It is only recently that Netflix is trying to focus more on becoming a production studio and producing the shows themselves.
But yes the The Politician was a FOX production, Netflix was production company in charge of making it.
by Anonymous | reply 69 | August 20, 2019 2:56 AM |
Netflix was not*
by Anonymous | reply 70 | August 20, 2019 2:57 AM |
This story takes place in a Harvard-Westlake type of school in Los Angeles, the same school Platt and many (and I mean MANY) celebrities went to. It was shot at my former high school, Fullerton Union in Orange county.
This show was the first show made by Murphy under his millionaire contract with Netflix.
by Anonymous | reply 71 | August 29, 2019 10:38 PM |
"Munch.. butts.. and.. celebrate Halloween" Ok give Jessica the Oscar!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 72 | September 6, 2019 12:51 AM |
The cast is very unappealing. I feel sorry for Jessica that she gets these crummy roles.
by Anonymous | reply 73 | September 6, 2019 12:56 AM |
R73 Maybe if you followed through on your gut instinct(s), she/we would get more to do.
You spill the tea @ 4 minutes and it’s piping hot and utterly delicious!
by Anonymous | reply 74 | September 6, 2019 2:03 AM |
Ben looks good...he's thin. His rendition of "River" in the first episode was very good. And the guy playing River, David Corinswet, is hot.
by Anonymous | reply 75 | September 28, 2019 7:43 PM |
This looks really annoying.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | September 28, 2019 8:03 PM |
Loved Gwyneth falling for Martina in the On a Clear Day moment. The show goes deep in it's pop culture references
