IF the far left get into power (e.g., presidency, Congress), expect to be bullied, penalized, and/or jailed for saying the wrong thing. This is what happens when extremists get into power. Same goes for the far right. Extremists are control freaks!

Of course it was a white woman who lodged the complaint.

Someone who probably doesn’t even know a black person personally.

I was going to teach Colson Whitehead's great new novel, "The Nickel Boys," in one of my classes this fall (college). It is based on actual reformatory "school" for boys in Florida and the torture and killings that took place there. It makes frequent use of the "n" word, spoken by both black and white characters, and Whitehead is himself African American. It's a terrific, haunting book. I've decided not to--I just can't imagine teaching it without quoting sections that use the word and I'll be damned if I'm going to bowdlerize the writings of a Pulitzer Prize winning novelists to avoid offending the sensibilities of such hyper-vigilant students. Same with Toni Morrison. Are we going to get to the point where only black teachers can teach such books, because they are the only ones who can be "permitted" to cite or mention offensive language? (Same is true with other identity-based literature--I am gay white man, btw). The students' loss, but I'm not taking the chance in my last semester of teaching.

I'm glad I'm retiring the end of this year.

Are you fucking kidding me????

Teachers can't even use the N-word for study purposes without having to deal with an investigation?

This is utter bull shit

Of course it's bullshit but in this day and age the worst possible crime one can be accused of is to said or done anything that could possibly be construed as being RACIST.

I’m getting kind of sick of the ‘Great Awokening’.

Even though it started out with good intentions it’s turned into a witch hunt - only instead of witchcraft accusations, people are accusing each other of being racist.
