I like the scrappy but sandy beach I went to as a kid on the Long Island Sound - Wildemere Beach in CT. We locals had it to ourselves. Warm calm water. I also love the working class Costa da Caparica outside Lisbon. Calm town, not gay, but with very hot dunes if you are of cruising age.

My family vacationed in Virginia Beach, VA when I was a child. I still remember the white sand, pounding waves and seashells everywhere.
