Trump tweets, stays out of sight for hours after shootings
BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (AP) — As the nation reeled from two mass shootings in less than a day, President Donald Trump spent the first hours after the tragedies out of sight at his New Jersey golf course, sending out tweets of support awkwardly mixed in with those promoting a celebrity fight and attacking his political foes.
Americans did not glimpse the president in the immediate aftermath of a shooting in El Paso, Texas, that killed at least 20 people and, hours later, one in Dayton, Ohio, that claimed at least nine lives. Not until Trump and the first lady prepared to fly back to Washington in the late afternoon Sunday did he appear before cameras.
“Hate has no place in our country, and we’re going to take care of it,” Trump declared before boarding Air Force One.
While connecting “hate” and mental illness to the shootings, Trump made no direct mention of gun laws, a factor brought up by Democratic officials and those seeking their party’s nomination to challenge Trump’s reelection next year. He also ignored questions about the anti-immigration language in a manifesto written by the El Paso shooter that mirrors some of his own.
Trump tried to assure Americans he was dealing with the problem and defended his administration in light of criticism following the latest in a string of mass shootings.
“We have done much more than most administrations,” he said, without elaboration. “We have done actually a lot. But perhaps more needs to be done.”
Never seemingly comfortable consoling a nation in grief, Trump will be carefully watched for his response to the attacks, again inviting comparison to his predecessors who have tried to heal the country in moments of national trauma.

#TRUMPSTERRORISTS TRENDS AS AMERICANS BLAME PRESIDENT TRUMP FOR MASS SHOOTINGS: 'THE BLOOD IS ON HIS HANDS'
ollowing two mass shootings this weekend, the hashtag #TrumpsTerrorists trended on Twitter on Sunday afternoon, with thousands of Americans blaming President Donald Trump for allegedly encouraging violence against immigrants with his racial rhetoric.
A gunman, identified as 21-year-old Patrick Crusius, opened fire at a Walmart near the Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso, Texas on Saturday, leaving 20 dead and at least 26 others injured. Authorities told the Washington Post that they were investigating a manifesto, allegedly written by the shooter, that contains strong anti-immigration sentiments and sympathy for the Christchurch shooter, an Australian gunman involved in attacks on New Zealand mosques that left 49 dead earlier this year.
Hours later, on Sunday morning, a separate shooter killed nine in Dayton, Ohio.
Although the president denounced both shootings as "senseless attacks" and condemned "these hateful and cowardly acts," 2020 Democratic candidates and various other politicians disagreed over whether Trump's inflammatory rhetoric about immigrants had encouraged the hate and violence in the El Paso shooting.
"Trump is now deleting his tweets calling immigrants an 'invasion' now that he inspired the El Paso shooter to murder 20 people to 'stop the Hispanic invasion of Texas.' Sorry @realDonaldTrump, but the internet is forever. #TrumpsTerrorists," Andrew Wortman tweeted, alongside screenshots of the president's deleted tweets.

Aide: Sen Mitch McConnell trips, breaks shoulder in Kentucky
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is recovering at home in Kentucky after suffering a shoulder fracture in a fall Sunday, a spokesman said.
McConnell tripped on his outdoor patio at his Louisville home Sunday morning, and has been treated and released after getting medical attention, said David Popp, a spokesman for the Kentucky Republican. Popp's emailed statement said the 77-year-old McConnell is working from home in Louisville and "will continue to work from home" for now.
The statement didn't elaborate on where he received help or what treatment he received or the expected time needed for recovery. A McConnell spokesman didn't immediately return a telephone message Sunday evening.
The statement said McConnell has expressed his sympathies to the people of El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, following the recent mass shootings in those communities and that he had been in touch with two Senate colleagues for those states.
McConnell returned to Kentucky after the Senate began a five-week recess Thursday, hailing the chamber for a hard-won budget deal that staves off a possible government shutdown. But McConnell, who is up for reelection next year and has aligned himself closely with President Donald Trump, has recently been criticized for blocking election security legislation aimed at protecting the nation's political system against foreign attacks.
On Saturday the sixth-term senator attended Kentucky's premier political event, where some Democrats wore "Moscow Mitch" shirts depicting the communist-era hammer and sickle and others heckled McConnell during the stump-style speaking at the Fancy Farm picnic.
McConnell has pushed back hard against his critics, likening the attacks to "modern-day McCarthyism." He received a long ovation during a Republican breakfast Saturday.
"It's appropriate to see a bunch of Democrats running around with communist flags on their shirts," the senator told reporters at the breakfast. "That ought to tell you something about where they want to take the country with the Green New Deal and Medicare for all. Their whole agenda would fundamentally change the country with something it's never been."

Trump is turning the American presidency into a platform for the wholesale demonization of minorities.
The current, and (to date) most debased, phase of the Trump presidency—the phase that includes the unceasing demonization of minority legislators and the endorsement of North Korean communism—began, in retrospect, on May 8, in the Florida Panhandle, at a rally in Panama City. It was there that Donald Trump gave tacit approval to the use of violence against immigrants.

The El Paso shooter couldn’t have been clearer about the source of his intentions because he laid everything out in his on-line “manifesto” including the references to tRump.
But, you can see the #Trumpterrorists push-back tactic already. They are circulating a list of high-profile shooters over the last 50 years (whether involved in mass shootings or not) and calling most of them Democrats and liberals — regardless of whether that is based on fact or is just some fiction they dreamt up. Hell they even called RFK’s shooter a liberal as if that has any relevance to the current debate.
Oh, and fuck you R11. At least Beto is speaking out and calling this what it is. He’s shown more leadership in the past 48 hours than tRump has throughout the course of his entire miserable life. RASHIDA TLAIB SLAMS IVANKA TRUMP OVER SHOOTINGS SOLIDARITY MESSAGE: 'TRY CHECKING YOUR DAD ON HIS TWEETS'
"As our nation mourns the senseless loss of life in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio and prays for the victims and their loved ones, we must also raise our voices in rejection of these heinous and cowardly acts of hate, terror and violence. White supremacy, like all other forms of terrorism, is an evil that must be destroyed," Ivanka Trump wrote in a tweet on Sunday.
While more than 57,000 people "liked" the first daughter's message, many others were quick to question how Ivanka could possibly condemn "acts of hate, terror and violence" without considering the role her father's own rhetoric has played in fueling hatred and division across the country.
Among the critics of Ivanka's message was Democratic Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who was one of four congresswomen targeted by the president in his widely-condemned tweet telling the "squad" to "go back" to the "crime-infested places from which they came" and "then come back and show us how it is done."
"Your prayers aren't working," Tlaib wrote, retweeting Ivanka's message. "Try checking your dad on his tweets," she said, offering the president's adviser some words of advice. "251 mass shootings in the U.S. in 216 days."
"He incites violence every day [with] his hate agenda and racism," Tlaib said. "More people are dying [because] he fails to fight white supremacist terrorists. They are the ones who hate America. "

That includes donations from some well-known business owners and executives downstate, including fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, New York Knicks owner James Dolan
Don't buy the Hilfiger crap or Knicks games (like who would go see that shitty team anyway)

people want something done
one political party wants something done
one political party (which controls the presidency, the senate and the courts) want nothing done
in order to get anything done, the do-nothing party needs to be replaced by the do-something party
for this to happen, the do-something needs to win elections and defeat the do-nothing party by political means
ergo, "politization"

[quote]"I am certain of the fact that [Brockway] was doing what he believed he was told to do, essentially, by the president," his attorney told the Missoulian.
WHAT?
by Anonymous | reply 233 | August 8, 2019 10:19 PM |
The man’s attorney, Lance Jasper, told the Missoulian on Wednesday that his client is a U.S. Army veteran who was honorably discharged for disability after sustaining a traumatic brain injury in 2000 while on active duty in Fort Lewis, Wash. As a result, Jasper said, Brockway believed he was following orders from “his commander in chief” while attacking the teenager.
“[President Trump] is telling people that if they kneel, they should be fired, or if they burn a flag, they should be punished,” Jasper told the Missoulian. “He certainly didn’t understand it was a crime”
by Anonymous | reply 234 | August 8, 2019 10:20 PM |
“He was bleeding out of his ears, seizing on the ground, just not coherent,” Hennick told the Missoulian. As startled spectators closed in on Brockway, she said, he told them “[the boy] was disrespecting the national anthem, so he had every right to do that.”
According to the affidavit, Brockway told investigators that when he asked the child to remove his hat “because it was disrespectful,” the child replied, “F--- you.”
Police said the boy was flown to Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, Wash., for emergency treatment. The 13-year-old suffered a concussion and fractured skull, according to the affidavit. In a hospital interview with local media, he said he can’t “remember anything” from the rodeo. The boy’s mother, Megan Keeler, told KPAX that her son’s ears bled for six hours after the alleged attack.
“All of the witnesses I have talked to said this was completely random,” Keeler told KPAX, a CBS-affiliated news station. “He targeted [my son], grabbed him and took him down.”

Bartram acknowledged he was legally carrying a pistol but denied waving it around, and said the gloves and knife could be explained. “I was eating prickly pears,” he said. The white powder was a protein supplement Bartram said he takes along with other Alex Jones’ branded nutritional supplements.

"Steve King has stood up for everything that we Iowans believe in. He's gotten a bad rap by people saying he's racist," Wally Hamann, a retiree and part-time antique dealer in Sioux City, told AFP.
"He's been stabbed in the back, just like our president, from his own Republicans."
At 71, Hamann is a burly, bearded driver of a pickup truck that sports a "Steve King for Congress" koozie on the dashboard and an "America, Love it or Leave" decal on the rear window.
King, he said, is determined to halt unauthorized immigration.
"When you're country is being invaded, you stop it with military power, and we're not doing that," Hamann warned.
King repeatedly has caused uproars over his unfiltered remarks.
"White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization -- how did that language become offensive?" King asked the New York Times in January.

I live in Crazyville, AZ. (for the time being). We literally have badge wearing members of Oath Keepers, the militia group, doing civilian patrols for our 'constitutional' Sheriff. One was the first responder to my recent fender bender.
I stopped on my morning walk Sunday to talk to my neighbor 2 doors down. He's barely in touch with reality, highly propagandized, and I try to keep on his good side. He was spraying weeds, and pretty agitated about Walmart's recent gun ban. He thinks mass shootings are because of video games. Midway through all this I looked down and noticed his holstered Glock 45. Enjoy your day, friend!
I'm more worried than some folks that Trump's mentally unstable cult members will take matters into their own hands. In fact, I think that's why the DNC is not taking stronger action against the criminal in the WH.

That happened several months ago and no one thought anything of it at the time, frankly. Just that it might have been some random assholes with too much time on their hands, R362.

Well we know this much.. In a country where there are actually more guns in the hands of people than there are people and only the USA can claim this "honor" it was bound to happen that there will be mass shootings occurring on a regular basis..
Now thanks to the 2nd Amendment and it's "well regulated militia" wording we now have insane armed to the teeth individuals who are now preparing for a civil war which Trump and Fox News and other conservative media are ramping up and the removal of Trump as President will set this horrific event in motion that thanks to the lax guns laws including open carry laws in states will happen and it's just a question of when and how bad it will be and how many people will get killed.
Maybe this upcoming barrage of mass shootings and acts of violence from armed individuals who believe that tyranny is upon the USA as a result of Trump being removed from office and their delusional belief only patriotic Americans can hold the government responsible which is backed by the 2nd Amendment unfortunately will result in bringing in comprehensive gun control laws once and for all...
