Eva Gabor was bisexual . . .

New book on the Gabors reveals Eva Gabor was bi, according to Francesca Hilton, Zsa Zsa's late daughter.

In addition to her five marriages, Auntie Eva also had a number of female lovers, including Marlene Dietrich, so revealed Francesca.

I recemtly read this book. I'm not convinced Eva was bisexual. Just because she was friends with Marlene Dietrich and Tallulah Bankhead?

by Anonymousreply 1August 23, 2019 3:43 AM

Suzanne Pleshette was Ava's best friend. I liked them both a lot, I hope they were girlfriends!

by Anonymousreply 2August 23, 2019 3:56 AM

R1, Maybe you should read the book again. Zsa Zsa's daughter, Francesca, revealed to the author that Auntie Eva was a lesbian and it was well known within the family. Eva and Merv Griffin bearded for each other for years.

by Anonymousreply 3August 23, 2019 5:35 AM

Did Eva know Lena Horne?

by Anonymousreply 4August 23, 2019 5:40 AM

I have had a crush on Eva Gabor since I was 6 years old. I would love to think she loved women.

by Anonymousreply 5August 23, 2019 8:36 PM

Poor sweet Eva. Dead 24 years and being outed if we are to believe what we read.

by Anonymousreply 6September 7, 2019 3:29 PM

R6 Being a lesbian and/or bi is not something to be ashamed of.

And is not something to feel sorry for someone over discovering.

by Anonymousreply 7September 7, 2019 3:33 PM

How come nobody ever talks about Magda? She was the oldest sister but you never hear anything about her. No wig business. No slapping policeman in the face. No multiple marriages. Was she the good one in the family?

by Anonymousreply 8September 7, 2019 3:36 PM

The three sisters had an unbelievable twenty marriages between them. Mama Jolie was married three times.

by Anonymousreply 9September 7, 2019 3:46 PM

Magda and Zsa Zsa were both married to George Sanders. ZZ first, divorcing him after a few years of a miserable marriage. Then Magda married him 16 years later only to have the marriage annulled after 32 days of marriage.

by Anonymousreply 10September 7, 2019 3:57 PM

Surely "including Marlene Dietrich" is redundant, OP? If Eva was famous, of that era and taking female lovers, it's a cinch Marlene was one of them. That gal got around.

by Anonymousreply 11September 7, 2019 4:09 PM

R8, Magda was married six times and married well. When her fourth husband, Tony Gallucci, died of cancer in 1967, she inherited a fortune from his contracting business, one of the oldest the US. However, a year prior, she suffered a major brain injury after a fall, which left her partially paralyzed and unable to speak clearly. You didn't hear too much about Magda because she was never a Hollywood actress. She did a few films in her native Hungary, and made a few TV appearances alongside her famous sisters, but she never landed a studio contract or significant role.

by Anonymousreply 12September 7, 2019 4:24 PM

She looked too much like that actress - Carole Cook.

by Anonymousreply 42September 8, 2019 4:00 AM

R38, That was Eva's sister Magda in the wheelchair, not her mother Jolie. Magda was wheelchair bound after a stroke.

Jolie was so out of it by 98 in 1995 that she was never even informed that Eva had died.

Both Magda and Jolie died in 1997, months apart.

by Anonymousreply 43September 8, 2019 6:58 AM

R38. According to the book that is Magda in the wheelchair not Jolie. By this time Jolie was bedridden and suffering from dementia. She was never told that Eva died.

by Anonymousreply 44September 8, 2019 3:12 PM

Eva could not have been a lesbian. She never wore flannel shirts and she didn’t have one of those ridiculous butch hair cuts.

On Oct. 21, 1963, Eva Gabor replaced Vivien Leigh in the Broadway musical "Tovarich." The show closed two weeks later. Shortly after that, John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Eva later did "Tovarich" in summer stock.

I wonder how Vivien felt about being replaced by a Gabor sister.

Similar as to how Bacall felt about being replaced by Raquel?

by Anonymousreply 83September 12, 2019 2:44 AM

I think Vivien just wanted out of the show at that point and wouldn't have cared if she had been replaced by Buddy Hackett.

by Anonymousreply 84September 12, 2019 2:55 AM

[quote]I wonder how Vivien felt about being replaced by a Gabor sister.

Eva was always considered more of a legitimate actress than Zsa Zsa. In 1958, Eva appeared in "Gigi," which went on to win the Oscar as best picture. Meanwhile, also in 1958, Zsa Zsa was appearing in "The Queen of Outer Space. It was Eva, not Zsa Zsa, who had a hit comedy series. Plus, Eva appeared on the legitimate stage.

by Anonymousreply 85September 12, 2019 3:03 AM

Eva also replaced Colleen Dewhurst in "You Can't Take It With You" on Broadway in 1984. She voiced characters for the Disney animated features "The Aristocats," "The Rescuers" and "The Rescuers Down Under."

She was probably on guard because of Dave's tendency toward snarky remarks. I'm not sure what he could have known about her. Most show business insiders must have known that Merv was really just her walker, but that wouldn't have been talk show fodder in 1986.

by Anonymousreply 150September 17, 2019 10:55 PM

[quote]She should have dated Jeff Chandler.

Eva was very fashion-conscious and wouldn't date any man who wore polka dots when he was clearly too big for them.

by Anonymousreply 151September 17, 2019 10:58 PM

Hmm. I have a crush on Jeff Chandler and Ester Williams. What a coincidence.

by Anonymousreply 152September 17, 2019 11:31 PM

Ava Gina

by Anonymousreply 153September 18, 2019 1:56 AM

R141. Sam Staggs wrote in his book that Eva once said that marriage was too interesting an experiment to be tried only once. I feel the same way about lesbian sex and lesbian relationships.

by Anonymousreply 154September 18, 2019 10:28 PM

Is this thread dead?

by Anonymousreply 155September 20, 2019 2:01 AM

It seems that way, unless we hear from Tom Lester, the only surviving principal cast member of "Green Acres."

by Anonymousreply 156September 20, 2019 2:08 AM

Was Eva just a 'pillow princess', who made Mary Grace Canfield do all the 'grunt work', as it were?

by Anonymousreply 157September 20, 2019 1:23 PM

Mr Haney is still not living

by Anonymousreply 158September 20, 2019 2:02 PM

Hey! I'm still here! Don't forget me!

Say -- who's that guy with the big knife coming my way?

by Anonymousreply 159September 20, 2019 4:09 PM

R157. You might be on to something. I wonder about Eva's capacity for any kind of intimacy.

by Anonymousreply 160September 21, 2019 12:30 AM

They are so adorable, and their chemistry is just magic, in R106's clip. I loved her so very much.

by Anonymousreply 161September 21, 2019 1:15 AM

I've had a crush kn Eva for 50 years.

by Anonymousreply 162September 21, 2019 2:13 AM

Eva seemed like a sweet, kind and lovely person. I hate to think of her suffering in any way.

by Anonymousreply 163September 21, 2019 5:25 PM

Honestly I'd rather think of Eva licking pussy than sucking cock because that's just plain gross.

by Anonymousreply 164September 21, 2019 7:50 PM

No way Ava was a lesbian or bi. She was too square.

by Anonymousreply 165September 22, 2019 2:21 AM

R165, Times Square?

by Anonymousreply 166September 22, 2019 6:08 AM

r165 Did Eddie even know Ava Gardner?

by Anonymousreply 167September 22, 2019 8:26 PM

R167, Yep.

by Anonymousreply 168September 22, 2019 10:11 PM

R167. I actually meant Eva not Ava.

Eva said on MatchGame that she did not like the word "suck". Ha ha

by Anonymousreply 169September 23, 2019 11:40 AM

Eva was a lady. The same cannot be said of Ava.

by Anonymousreply 170September 23, 2019 1:07 PM

Did Eva drive a Subaru?

by Anonymousreply 171September 24, 2019 12:44 AM

Sad bride.

I just finished the book and was surprised Staggs didn't mention Zsa-Zsa and Jackie Kennedy's transatlantic flight sometime in the 1950's. I read somewhere that Jackie spent the whole flight - and this was when they were propeller planes, not jets, so it was all day - admiring Zsa-Zsa's skin and her flawless complexion from her seat across the aisle.

by Anonymousreply 174September 24, 2019 2:32 AM

R173. No! Eva was beautiful.

by Anonymousreply 175September 24, 2019 2:49 AM

R174. Check out R121. He left a lot if things out of the book.

by Anonymousreply 176September 24, 2019 11:41 AM

Has anybody told RALPH ?

by Anonymousreply 177September 24, 2019 1:08 PM

Eva -Ava

Ava-Eva

Let's call the whole thing off.

by Anonymousreply 178September 24, 2019 3:44 PM

I love Eva. I wish she had outlived Zsa Zsa.

by Anonymousreply 179September 24, 2019 7:11 PM

I wish Sam Staggs had interviewed Eva's step kids from her marriage to Frank Jameison. I would love to know what they thought of her.

by Anonymousreply 180September 25, 2019 10:28 PM

I'm a horny lesbian and I love Eva.

by Anonymousreply 181September 27, 2019 11:24 PM

A few years ago I bought Eva’s birthday card on eBay. It was sent to her by Suzanne Pleshette and Tina Sinatra. Suzanne signed it “Your Real Sister” and Tina signed it “Your kid sister”. At the bottom of the card they invite Eva to lunch. I thought it was cute.

by Anonymousreply 182September 28, 2019 12:11 AM

That doesn't speak well of Suzanne Pleshette. You don't shit talk your friend's family. You listen while they do it, but you don't engage in it yourself. Bad form.

by Anonymousreply 183September 28, 2019 12:18 AM

R182 here. I was slightly wrong. Tina says “Your rotten kid” rather than “your kid sister”

Hopefully the link works.

R182, Who was selling it?

by Anonymousreply 185September 28, 2019 2:09 PM

R182. That is cute. I'm glad she had such nice friends.

by Anonymousreply 186September 28, 2019 5:45 PM

In a 1995 interview with Roger Ailles Eva said she had been to a psychiatrist on and off for 10 years. I wonder if she was struggling with her sexuality?

by Anonymousreply 187September 28, 2019 6:01 PM

R183. I don't think SP showed bad form. She showed a sense of humor. Something you obviously lack.

by Anonymousreply 188September 28, 2019 7:24 PM

Francesca Hilton was not a reputable source. Eva was straight. 100%

by Anonymousreply 189September 30, 2019 11:21 PM

[quote] Eva was straight. 100%

We had that in common.

by Anonymousreply 190September 30, 2019 11:36 PM

R189, Of course she was.

by Anonymousreply 191October 1, 2019 5:29 AM

R191. Are you agreeing that Francesca was disreputable or are you agreeing that Eva was 100% straight?

by Anonymousreply 192October 1, 2019 11:49 AM

I agree with whoever said she didn’t seem like a very sexual person. I also imagine her to be too conscious of her appearance and how she looked to let go and enjoy a good romp with anybody. So she never pinged to me as either a lesbian or a sensual, sexual straight woman.

by Anonymousreply 193October 1, 2019 1:30 PM

I wonder if Eva ever had a fling with Holland Taylor. That would be hot!

by Anonymousreply 194October 1, 2019 7:38 PM

Holland Taylor.

What's the best thing about oral sex with Zsa Zsa Gabor?

15 minutes of silence.

by Anonymousreply 196October 2, 2019 2:10 AM

R194=Sarah Paulson, snapping her bean frantically

by Anonymousreply 197October 2, 2019 9:39 PM

Straight, bi, whatever....my darlings, who cares?

I do love the house shown in R77's post....now that looks like the house where a star SHOULD live.

by Anonymousreply 198October 2, 2019 10:14 PM

R193. I disagree. I think Eva comes across as a very warm and loving person. I see her as very sensual.

by Anonymousreply 199October 6, 2019 6:45 PM

Eva was married five times yet had no kids. Hmmm . . .

by Anonymousreply 200October 7, 2019 7:32 AM

R200. What does that have to do with being lesbian or bisexual?

by Anonymousreply 201November 1, 2019 1:11 AM

This thread is as dead as Eva and Ava. 🙁

by Anonymousreply 202November 3, 2019 8:58 PM

It's even as dead as I am.

So when Eva was interviewed by two women she said men "are a pain in the neck". When she was interviewed a man she said "I'm crazy about men". Which is it Eva?

by Anonymousreply 204November 21, 2019 11:08 AM

I imagine that, for Eva, it was both.

by Anonymousreply 205November 21, 2019 4:23 PM

I wish this thread was as active as Eva's sex life.
