I know nothing about him, other than he has really bad hair and looks like trump.
He looks like an idiot, so it's no surprise that the British voted for him to be their leader.
The British were never very smart.

No, he didn't. He was born in the US because his parents were there at the time of his birth. They returned to the UK with him as a baby.

He was in the Bullingdon Club at Oxford--the club for the wealthiest and most arrogant of toffs. They are banned from all restaurants within a several miles' radius of Oxford because their tradition is to go to a nice restaurant, order the most expensive things, and then completely trash the room they're in (plates, goblets, windows, anything on the walls) and then contemptuously write out the owner a check to pay for it. They have also been frequently banned from meeting as a group from the Oxford colleges for decades because they also have a tradition of smashing windows in the colleges.
That should give you an idea of what he's like as a person.
In the linked photo from 1987, #8 is Johnson (who was much hotter back in the day than now--now he is completely repulsive) and #2 is the former prime minister David Cameron.

R20, he is the leader of our country because we have a parliamentary system whereby the party of government selects the prime minister. The prime minister is not directly elected but the prime minister is invariably the party leader who led the party into an election. In unusual circumstances if a prime minister has to resign then the ruling party selects a new leader, who then goes on to become prime minister. Although, there is a question of their legitimacy so they tend to have to call a general election pretty soon, once the reasons why the previous prime minister have been dealt with. So, expect a general election in the UK once we have Brexited by the end of October - which Boris may win, but only because the opposition Labour party is a complete mess at present (even more of a mess than the Tories, and that's saying something).
by Anonymous | reply 40 | July 23, 2019 8:54 PM |

The British didn't vote for him - signed-up Tory party members did, which is very very different. Personally I disagree with handing over power within the party when a Prime-Minister steps down, but that is the way it works. There will likely be a general election in a few months and then we will get to vote.

It's true, Britain's COLLAPSE is complete. And I say that as a Britisher.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | July 23, 2019 9:13 PM |
R43, as r49 said, it is the members of the Tory party who voted for their party leader who, because the Tories are the largest party in parliament and hence are the government, becomes prime minister. A bit like how members of the Democrats and Republicans select their party's presidential candidate. So, 92,153 Tory party members voted for Boris to be their party leader and, effectively, prime minister.
Normally, political parties in the UK choose their leaders while they are in opposition, usually after they have lost a general election and so the losing party leader stands down.

Queen Lizzie should grow a pair and do what she did in 1963 when she appointed Sir Alec Douglas-Home as Prime Minister. Reject Boris. Use her reserve power or whatever it's called.
Of course the circumstances are different, but what else is she good for besides sittin' around letting her corgis lick peanut butter out of her crevices. I mean c'mon, ma'am, actually do something relevant.
The old bitch got £45.7 million ($58 million) from taxpayers in 2017-2018.
Disgusting.
