I always shower before sex if I know beforehand. If it's spontaneous, then I make a judgement call if a shower is needed. I don't know why, but almost all the guys that I'm with like to take showers before sex. Either they've showered before leaving their home before they show up at my place or ask to use my shower. I've never had to ask a guy to take a shower.

I find that bizarre and totally unsexy. As long as the guy took a shower that day, having to take a shower beforehand is totally OCD controlling behavior that is at complete odds with sexual fun.
