Nassau, Bahamas

Has anyone here ever been there? How was it?

It looks like a fun time, especially if you get to stay at Atlantis.

When is the best time to go?

Nobody has ever been there.

R1 has reading comprehension problems.

Note the "Has anyone HERE ever been there." Not "Has ANYONE ever been there."

Dick face twat.

In Nassau all seems to breath freedom and peace, and to make one forget the world and its sad turmoils.

Boring as fuck, hotter than hell and the natives are very aggressive in trying to sell you crap. Also,do not stop and chat with one because then they will try to ask for money for their services, even if you asked for the time. Did I mention horrendously expensive ?

Okay for visit. Atlantis is nice. Note you don't have to stay at Atlantis, which is expensive. You can go there anyway and walk around.

Ditto R4

If you stop in Nassau on a cruise, stay on the ship. A much better use of your time.

The water is lovely, but Nassau is dreadful.

Tacky tourist trap, full of cruise-ship trash looking for trinkets and t-shirts.

I went to Harbour Island once and it was very pleasant. Had beautiful pink sand beaches.

Cheesy IMHO . Unless you have kids .

It’s one of those places that was lovely and glamorous back in the day— “Dr. No” was set there— but it’s really been ruined by too much tourism, especially by cruise ship. Back in the 50s and 60s it had the same sort of appeal that Bermuda had (and still has today). Nassau looks very run down, but if you spend your entire vacation on a resort property, you may not notice that except going to and from the airport..

Islanders were constantly shrieking "man o war, get out of water!" for floating garbage bag false alarms.

Atlantis is a shithole. The rooms are nasty and everything smells like mold/mildew. The crowd is the finest white trash you've ever seen. Stay at The Cove if you can afford it. It's slightly better.

Also the new Baha Mar hotel complex looks pretty decent but it's like 6 giant hotels smashed together in one area.

Isn't that where the Beverly Hill housewives stayed this past season? It didn't look half bad.

Wouldn't Miami be a better vacation destination than the Bahamas?

Same location, better hotels and nightlife.

I have not been to Nassau in a while, but I enjoyed it. I did not stay in a large hotel. There was a really nice, high end table linen store on the main shopping street. It wasn't the usual made in China crap you see in other ports. Same with the craft market. There was a fair amount of stuff made in China or India passed off as local crafts, but there was a lot of locally made crafts. This is actually unusual.

There are several historical sites. The Cloisters and Versailles Gardens is beautiful and has beautiful views. The pirate museum is fun.

The problem is the crime. We has a bodyguard with us at all times. This is why people stay in hermetically sealed hotels.
