Continuation of benefits for 9/11 victims.
Rand Paul is saying :FUCK YOU to people who worked on the piles and are now dying, but he'll always vote for military spending.

The bill passed today.

Hard to believe its $10 billion.
I wonder why they just weren’t granted access to the VA with war Veteran-level benefits. Or is this not complicated enough?

I hope the next time there is a tornado or flood in Kentucky he's made to beg, plead, and grovel to get federal assistance.
And before you start, just remember that these people voted for him and have continued to vote for him.

I am all in favor of this bill but $10 billion is excessive.

R3, even actual veterans have incredible difficulty accessing competent health care/associated benefits through the VA system. And you want to increase the difficulty and prolong wait times for an additional group of worthy and afflicted people?I
How would you suggest that triage process should work? WW2/Korean vets after Gulf War vets? 9/11 first responders before Vietnam vets, or vice-versa?
What would the new appropriations process/budget for VA look like?

R6, yes, exactly. My suggestion is designed to make things more difficult for everybody, just because.
This kind of thing should appeal to Trump, but that’s totally coincidental.

R6, well, how many people are we talking about, anyway?
As for the VA, my brother in law on Long Island has had great service with them and no bills. I thought they fixed the VA problems?
I am also curious about how the VA compares with otherwise. I always had great insurance plans, but I always had an obscene wait-time to see a specialist or even a PCP, sometimes. I know there’s been a complaint with the VA (and the Right says that about healthcare in Canada and the UK, too) about wait times, but the complaint isn’t meaningful without comparing with the wait times experienced by others.

R8, it depends almost entirely on where you are located, and what specialty your particular ailment(s) requires. My Vietnam vet uncle (died in 2017) in northwest South Carolina had to take the bus to Augusta GA to be treated for cancer and other issues related to Agent Orange exposure. It was an incredible hardship that likely shortened his life. On the other hand, another uncle, who lived in S. Louisiana, had his choice of excellent VA facilities in Baton Rouge and New Orleans, and probably would be alive today had he agreed to go on the kidney transplant list.
So it's a crapshoot.

Yet ALL the cops, firemen and first responders in NYC routinely vote for Republicans!
Good job, assholes! You are getting your wish, but don't worry the Democrats will save you once more. I wish they wouldn't frankly!
