So can we or can't we? Id like to block certain threads that don't interest me but not necessarily the topic of the thread. How to r2?

I think the problem starts when you block too many. That's when they begin popping up again.

Two weeks ago, r4, I was unable to block even two or three.

r6 Yeah, that's nothing. I routinely block all Part X threads out of frustration, and that's probably why they keep coming back.

When I closed DL 15 minutes ago, I had 16 threads blocked. Now it's only 8. And I did not unblock them.

Perhaps the system stops saving “blocks’ for threads that have been closed, deleted or become inactive.

I just blocked all 16, r10. They were not closed, deleted, or inactive.

I was able to /ignore this thread with no problem.

Why go around creating bad karma for other people when you can simply skip past a thread? Serious question. It doesn't seem fair to punish someone just because their interests don't align with yours.

I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but not only can we not ignore threads, but every thread complaining about the broken ignore function gets "disappeared."

Every time you block a thread or a poster it builds up "negative karma" for them, conversely, wit & wisdom votes build good karma. All that was explained when the format changed.

That's good. I only ignore posters who thoroughly deserve it.

I'd like to say that OP's cookie sniffing is so extreme he's sucking the blocked thread data right out of his browser, but it's all stored in a database now--it seems.

I don't block any posters. Just threads. Political ones, mostly.

Thank you, R15, for that illustration for the benefit of those asking why we can't just scroll past threads we want to ignore. We CAN, but it's so boring and shitty and repetitious and makes the site really unrewarding. And we're paying for using the site, and plenty of sites that are free don't have fake/nonworking function buttons.

It's extra shitty when there's a revolting or irritating photo in the OP and you just have to keep seeing it again and again.

Someone suggested blocking individual posters, and it seemed like it worked, but I changed my mind, because sometimes the person posting an incredibly tedious thread is also someone posting a thoughtful post. I reserve my FFs for actual assholes (racists, homophobes, misogynists, for example). I hate seeing OPs being greyed out just because they're obsessed with some non-entity.
