I'm going away again. Make this worth paying for, Muriel, and I will pay for it.
We still can't block threads?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 23, 2019 8:16 PM |
I’ve blocked 10 British Royal Family, and they’ve stayed blocked OP
Try sending Muriel a bottle of tequila
by Anonymous | reply 1 | July 16, 2019 8:56 PM |
I haven't seen any Shawn Mendes or Chalamet threads for ages, reckon the block button is doing something?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | July 16, 2019 9:09 PM |
So can we or can't we? Id like to block certain threads that don't interest me but not necessarily the topic of the thread. How to r2?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | July 16, 2019 9:11 PM |
I think the problem starts when you block too many. That's when they begin popping up again.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 16, 2019 9:13 PM |
Two weeks ago, r4, I was unable to block even two or three.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | July 16, 2019 9:14 PM |
Really? Oh the humanity! The thought of them all coming back again if I hit an unknown arbitrary figure would have me clutching my pearls and reaching for a pink gin in no time. Can't recall how many I've blocked, maybe 4 or 5?
by Anonymous | reply 6 | July 16, 2019 9:15 PM |
Oh, fuck off, r6. Go back to all your Trump pictures, you love him so much.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | July 16, 2019 9:19 PM |
r6 Yeah, that's nothing. I routinely block all Part X threads out of frustration, and that's probably why they keep coming back.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 16, 2019 9:20 PM |
When I closed DL 15 minutes ago, I had 16 threads blocked. Now it's only 8. And I did not unblock them.
Why, Muriel? Why?
by Anonymous | reply 9 | July 16, 2019 9:58 PM |
Perhaps the system stops saving “blocks’ for threads that have been closed, deleted or become inactive.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | July 16, 2019 10:09 PM |
I just blocked all 16, r10. They were not closed, deleted, or inactive.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | July 16, 2019 10:10 PM |
I was able to /ignore this thread with no problem.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | July 16, 2019 10:13 PM |
Why go around creating bad karma for other people when you can simply skip past a thread? Serious question. It doesn't seem fair to punish someone just because their interests don't align with yours.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | July 16, 2019 10:22 PM |
Who is "punished" by my blocking a thread? How is that "bad karma"?

I hate to be a conspiracy theorist, but not only can we not ignore threads, but every thread complaining about the broken ignore function gets "disappeared."

Every time you block a thread or a poster it builds up "negative karma" for them, conversely, wit & wisdom votes build good karma. All that was explained when the format changed.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 16, 2019 10:31 PM |
That's good. I only ignore posters who thoroughly deserve it.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | July 16, 2019 10:33 PM |
I'd like to say that OP's cookie sniffing is so extreme he's sucking the blocked thread data right out of his browser, but it's all stored in a database now--it seems.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 16, 2019 10:34 PM |
I don't block any posters. Just threads. Political ones, mostly.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | July 16, 2019 11:07 PM |
Thank you, R15, for that illustration for the benefit of those asking why we can't just scroll past threads we want to ignore. We CAN, but it's so boring and shitty and repetitious and makes the site really unrewarding. And we're paying for using the site, and plenty of sites that are free don't have fake/nonworking function buttons.
It's extra shitty when there's a revolting or irritating photo in the OP and you just have to keep seeing it again and again.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | July 16, 2019 11:12 PM |
Someone suggested blocking individual posters, and it seemed like it worked, but I changed my mind, because sometimes the person posting an incredibly tedious thread is also someone posting a thoughtful post. I reserve my FFs for actual assholes (racists, homophobes, misogynists, for example). I hate seeing OPs being greyed out just because they're obsessed with some non-entity.

At one point yesterday, I had blocked 64 threads. When I refreshed, the number went to 17. It's 17 today.

I only block bigots.
Therefore, I don’t give a shit how they feel about it.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 23, 2019 5:07 PM |
Agree with R25, fuck the bigots. If they don't like it they can go post on Stormfront.

I blocked the sicko who started the Mayor Pete Eating Pussy thread. Then I checked him out on my Ignored list, and it's almost endless the number of nonsense threads he starts, mostly to do with feces and other sick stuff.

r13 believes in black magic, apparently.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | July 23, 2019 6:27 PM |
R29 never read the site terms, apparently.

I hope ignoring doesn't add negative karma. I use it as a poor man's trolldar. I also have a banner add today for' Take your daughter to work day on April 25, 2019'. Not only do I not have children, but I also don't own a time machine.

Yes. We call it "ignoredar" now.
