A Pakistani nuke will be given/sold/stolen by terrorists. They’ll detonate it in some city, and then claim that they have three more. Now that - will be terrorism.

by Anonymousreply 9June 20, 2019 2:01 AM

A wealthy nuclear armed country will follow neocon ideology into privatizing the armed forces which will lead to underpaid subcontractors and corruption and ...boom.

by Anonymousreply 14June 20, 2019 2:13 AM

India recently cut off Pakistani access to a certain river’s water. China, India, and Pakistan have a treaty identifying each’s share of the water, but India got mad over something.

The Himalayan glaciers that feeding the rivers that are important to all three countries are shrinking due to global warming. In time, they’ll go to war over whatever water is left. And all three are nuclear powers.

Also, Bangladesh has tens of millions of people, or more, who live on land that will be flooded by rising sea levels. They’ll want to cross into India, which India will block. Pakistan will attack India on behalf of their Muslim brothers in Bangladesh.

Water Wars!

[quote]Those were "atomic " weapons not "nuclear"

They mean the same thing, dumbass.

An "atomic bomb" historically refers to a fission weapon. Fission weapons are inherently nuclear weapons.

A hydrogen bomb is a thermonuclear weapon, which has an atomic/fission weapon for its primary trigger.

It won’t be the US, unless it’s under Trump or someone equally as vile. Remember that stupid comment he made during one of the debates, that the thing that impresses him the most about nuclear is “the power”. He makes these vacuous statements that requires the listener to interpret and convert into intelligible English. He always refers to “nuclear” without qualification.

Nuclear what? Power? Weapons? Waste? What?

Assuming he’s talking about nuclear weapons, no shit that they’re powerful. Tell us something we don’t already know.

by Anonymousreply 26June 22, 2019 11:49 PM

Didn't the USA already do it?

by Anonymousreply 27June 22, 2019 11:51 PM

Yeah, the US dropped the first two. No. 3 will probably come from Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook.

Uh, the first nuclear weapons were used by the U.S. against Japan 74 years ago at the end of WW2.

Someone failed history class, apparently.

by Anonymousreply 31June 23, 2019 3:20 AM

We did, dumbass.

by Anonymousreply 33June 23, 2019 3:33 AM

Atomic is the same as nuclear. We have serious problems with our educational system if you don't know that, OP. We/USA dropped two nuclear bombs on Japan is 1945. We/USA has exploded hydrogen bombs in Nevada and in the Pacific for testing purposes. If any are ever hurled again, my money is on us/USA.

by Anonymousreply 34June 23, 2019 4:39 AM

I think OP meant “the first use of nuclear weapons in warfare since WWII”. Let’s be generous.

During the Cold War, the USSR’s public position was that they would not be the first to introduce unclear weapons in any military conflict. The USA made no such commitment. But the reason for this was because the USSR had conventional troops that could overrun our allies before we could react. Our nukes were meant to prevent such an an invasion, or for use in a counterattack, until we could get troops there to fight.
