Even though I’m an Eldergay, the original network airings of this show were a little before my time, so I’ve only seen it in syndication or cable airings. Some episodes are on YouTube, and while dated at times, I remain impressed by the intelligent scripts and excellent guest-star casts.
Got a real surprise while watching this Robert Stack episode, featuring Dennis Weaver, Diane Baker (sporting a serious Ann Landers bouffant!), Larry Storch and Phyllis Kirk — Karen Black shows up at about the 47:00 mark! Turns out she has a sizable supporting role, but she didn’t manage to get billing with the other guest stars at the start of the episode, only in the end credits. I checked IMDB (too much free time, I know!) and this episode aired in the fall of 1969 — definitely after “You’re a Big Boy Now” was released, and maybe after “East Rider”, too. Surprised that she couldn’t manage better billing. Even stranger, though, is that she was billed as CARAN Black! I never knew she ever spelled her name that way.
