What do you feel or think when your plane is about to crash?

Just curious ?

I Can FLY!!!!

Read about the passengers on that plane that was landed in the Hudson river. They all legitimately thought they were about to die and most were worried about their families' financial well-beings.

How could I bloody know when my plane has never crashed?

I would fret that I would not live to see Aaron Schock as President making God’s great nation even greater, and finishing off our 20 year war with Iran with heavenly Victory.

We’ll have to get back to you on this, OP.

In a study of suicide jumpers from the Golden Gate Bridge who survived, they all stated that as they were falling, time slowed time. Way down.

It takes about four seconds to reach the water after jumping. The survivors said it felt forever -- like hours, one said. Another thought to herself at least three times, "I must be getting ready to hit the water."

So, OP, I assume it's rather terrible.

Was wasted drunk flying from LAX into Palm Springs. Had even more turbulence than normal in a tiny prop plane. Vomited everywhere once we landed.

by Anonymousreply 10June 18, 2019 10:28 AM

They should provide passengers with cyanide pills, like WW2 spirs.

by Anonymousreply 11June 18, 2019 10:28 AM

Put you head between your knees and kiss your ass goodbye.

by Anonymousreply 12June 18, 2019 10:41 AM

I was okay with it but I prayed to God asking him to make it quick and painless. Since there were only 4 of us + the two pilots on the plane so it was dead silent and didn't have deal with others screaming which would have been the worst part.

R9 maybe they jump though frames of parallel realities as they descend...

They also all said that the moment they let go, they regretted it. SOMETHING TO KEEP IN MIND.

Not always. Passengers aboard Japan Airlines flight 123 were alive for the agonizing 32 minutes after the tail was blown off until the plane slammed into a mountain. Many of them wrote letters to their families. Some had no access to writing instruments and cut themselves to write their farewell notes in their own blood.

[quote] 'Sayonara, please look after the children. It's now 6:30 (p.m.). The plane is twirling and falling rapidly. I'm grateful that I've led a happy life so far.'

[quote] Be good to each other and work hard. Help your mother. Dad is very sad, but I'm sure I won't make it....I don't want to take any more planes. Please God, help me. To think that our dinner last night was the last time."

Today, half the people would be live-streaming it on their phones while the other half would be so busy staring at their phones they wouldn't even know there was anything amiss.

lol r19.

I just watched Sully this weekend... all I could think of is that I don't want to ever experience anything like that... especially the cold water part.

by Anonymousreply 21June 18, 2019 1:04 PM

oh shit, oh shit, oh shit...

I was on a plane once that seemed dead quiet as we ascended. In my mind, something was wrong. I got immediately hot and panicky, feeling like I don't want to die this way. I'd imagine it's a horrible experience.

Oh yeah. I remember hearing about the crash when it happened and thinking, How did they get over 500 people on a 747? Then I read it was specially configured for domestic travel with more coach seats than they'd use of international flights.

About a dozen years ago I was in Kyoto. I'd been to a cocktail party at the hotel and, feeling a nice buzz, I went up to my room, drew a bath and put on some calming Japanese music, After the bath, feeling very relaxed, I opened a bottle of sake and looked for some more upbeat Japanese music to play. I found the old 1963 recording of 'Ue o muite arukō ' by Kyu Sakamoto. (Old timers will remember the song as 'Sukiyaki').

Curious, I decided to look into whatever happened to ol' Kyu and found out that he died on Japan Airlines flight 123. This led me down a sake-fueled rabbit hole of reading all I could find about the crash, listening to that song over and over, reading those farewell letters, and crying my eyes out over the fate of those poor people. (I'll 'Mary' myself here and save someone the trouble).

Ponder this awful fact, if you will: For whatever reason, rescue teams did not set out for the crash site until the following morning. Medical staff later found bodies with injuries suggesting that individuals had survived the crash only to die from shock, exposure overnight in the mountains, or from injuries that, if tended to earlier, would not have been fatal.

I am a 2 million-mile flyer and have never had an incident. I know statistically, the changes of being in a plane crash are infinitesimally small, but you can't help but wonder...
