Texas couple dies of mysterious illness in Fiji.
Three other Americans die at resort in Dominican Republic, separately but found in the same condition.
Foul play? Coincidence? An emerging viral pandemic?

I read about the couple in the Dominican Republic yesterday and i thought it was very strange and also what are the odds of the the two of them dying at or around the same time. The woman was only 49. They said something about blood pressure meds but how likely would that contribute to them both dying like that?

Carbon monoxide poisoning would kill the couple at the same time.
Also remember the family that was horribly sickened by insecticide sprayed in the hotel room before their arrival? I think they all got sick and died. So it could be toxic inhalation as cause of fatality.

They didn’t die, r6. Three of them were left incapacitated.

I assumed it was tainted alcohol which is what killed a woman and sickened dozens at a Mexican resort but in that case the victims vomited profusely.

R18, It's up to at least 8 deaths and 70 claimed illnesses. Will try to find and link additional media reports.

Maybe this is similar to the hotel deaths in Thailand reported last year. I think all of these are related to insecticide spraying for bedbugs.

"I think all of these are related to insecticide spraying for bedbugs. "
I'll tell you guys this... I'm going to a country where there are bedbugs, so I had the bright idea of spraying my luggage with bedbug spray to keep the little bastards from climbing aboard. But even though I used the stuff in a well-ventilated area, the bedbug spray made me sick as a dog for two days! Couldn't keep food down for a day, lethargic, groggy, etc.
When I was well enough I looked up the active ingredients on the stuff I'd used, and for the most part they cause anticholinergic symptoms in humans. FYI the most dangerous symptom of severe anticholinergic poisoning is respiratory failure - you just stop breathing. If someone good a big snootfull of this stuff in an enclosed space, like a fucking hotel room, I bet that could happen.
I can't believe it's legal to sell this shit in the US, but I bet there's worse stuff floating out there in the 3rd world, where nobody cares if a few hotel maids or tourists die.
