Why do millennials dominate the conversation about young people?

Nobody seems to care about the X and Z people.

by Anonymousreply 180November 4, 2019 9:08 PM

Good timing?

by Anonymousreply 1June 2, 2019 11:39 AM

That can't be just it.

by Anonymousreply 2June 2, 2019 11:45 AM

Gen X aren't really young anymore, the youngest are 40 and the old will be mid to late fifties, and people seem not to have noticed that the oldest Gen Z are now in their late teens and coming into adulthood. Millenial is a catch-all term for young people despite the fact that the oldest of us are in our late thirties, but I think that's just an inevitable lag in our collective awareness of time passing.

Gen Z are hitting the workforce and pretty soon people will start recognizing that they're a different generation I think, but I think the conflation between 'millenial' and 'young people will take a while to die out. I suspect it did for the boomers once Gen X came up behind them.

by Anonymousreply 3June 2, 2019 11:49 AM

People categorize everyone who is not a boomer as a millennial. No one cares about the titles Gen X or Z.

by Anonymousreply 4June 2, 2019 11:54 AM

Millennials are still getting blamed for things that Gen X 40somethings started and for what Gen Z are still doing, so I think millennial is a catch-all term for 1 to 49 year olds.

by Anonymousreply 5June 2, 2019 11:54 AM

[quote] No one cares about the titles Gen X or Z.

I think this OP's point. Nobody talks about Gen X or Gen Z. Everybody talks about millennials.

by Anonymousreply 6June 2, 2019 11:57 AM

Millennial is just a cooler word, so people use it as a catch all.

by Anonymousreply 7June 2, 2019 11:57 AM

Because they're hitting their stride demographically just about now. Their pig is moving through the python.

The youngest slice of the Millennial generation is in or headed to college or a job while the oldest have careers and thus lots of loans to pay, houses to buy, marriage (or not) and families to start and we're seeing and hearing about their accomplishments. It's inevitable we'd be focusing on a group in their 20's, 30's and 40's - they have long been drivers of the economy. Sadly, we're also learning about their failures like no jobs and opiate use.

by Anonymousreply 8June 2, 2019 11:59 AM

Also millennial men are narcissists, unafraid of nudes, so that will gather some attention.

by Anonymousreply 9June 2, 2019 12:02 PM

Millennial men understand that dicks and money are all you need.

by Anonymousreply 10June 2, 2019 12:07 PM

Millennials, and their flaws, are more compelling.

by Anonymousreply 11June 2, 2019 12:07 PM

by Anonymousreply 14June 2, 2019 12:48 PM

Who is that, OP?

by Anonymousreply 15June 2, 2019 12:53 PM

Are gen X even young anymore? I'm a millennial and I turn 32 this year.

by Anonymousreply 16June 2, 2019 3:08 PM

Only in the world of Datalounge eldergays are Gen X considered "young." The very youngest of Gen X will be turning 40 next year.

by Anonymousreply 17June 2, 2019 3:11 PM

R17 Literally what I said lol. I'm a Millennial but I'm old. I was born in 1987.

by Anonymousreply 18June 2, 2019 3:12 PM

Then there's the fact that few people actually know what "Millennial" means; they think it applies to "anyone younger than myself."

by Anonymousreply 19June 2, 2019 3:14 PM

The young millennials are 23 r8, people headed to college are not millennials.

Which proves the point of how millennial is a catch all term. Millennials aren't even that young anymore.

by Anonymousreply 20June 2, 2019 3:19 PM

Oh geez R20. I would say the majority of people in their 20s still qualify as young.

by Anonymousreply 21June 2, 2019 6:31 PM

This will probably change in a few years.

by Anonymousreply 22June 2, 2019 8:54 PM

Why do babies get to dominate the diaper wearing scene? Old weirdos like like to wear them too!

by Anonymousreply 23June 2, 2019 8:56 PM

OP's dude is lovely

by Anonymousreply 24June 2, 2019 8:58 PM

by Anonymousreply 26June 2, 2019 10:15 PM

OP's dude is gonna set one of his eyebrows on fire.

by Anonymousreply 27June 2, 2019 10:19 PM

Gen Z is 1-23, Gen X is 40 and older, milennials just happen to be the most important demographic 24-39, but that'll change as we get older.

by Anonymousreply 28June 2, 2019 10:22 PM

What r28 said.

by Anonymousreply 29June 2, 2019 10:35 PM

by Anonymousreply 30June 2, 2019 11:01 PM

In the gay world, because they're young and hot right now as one can reasonably expect of men in their 20s and 30s. The other generations surrounding them are too young or too old. They're in the enviable hot phase in the gay world and will be for a while, but that too will pass.

by Anonymousreply 31June 3, 2019 9:12 AM

They also have a more easily identifiable generational culture, for better or worse.

by Anonymousreply 32June 3, 2019 9:22 AM

Also who is the guy at Op?

by Anonymousreply 33June 3, 2019 9:33 AM

I think people are talking about Gen Z but they just don't realize it.

by Anonymousreply 34June 3, 2019 10:03 AM

It's more than just being in the right age. I think millennials subconsciously absorbed some Boomer traits. Which, good for them I guess. They certainly have the confidence of Boomers.

by Anonymousreply 35June 3, 2019 11:38 AM

There have been more than a few efforts to push Gen Z in the last few years, but so far no takers.

by Anonymousreply 36June 3, 2019 11:46 AM

Let him eat cake R27.

by Anonymousreply 37June 3, 2019 11:54 AM

Millennial, being a large generation, will continue to be a driving force until they die, just like the Boomers. Z is a smaller Generation, and like X, will end up being mostly ignored in the face of the giant narcissist generations.

by Anonymousreply 38June 3, 2019 12:00 PM

It's a little bit eerie how millennials are positioning themselves quite confidently to take over the way young Boomers did.

by Anonymousreply 39June 3, 2019 12:04 PM

R38 is correct.

by Anonymousreply 40June 3, 2019 12:11 PM

by Anonymousreply 46June 9, 2019 11:02 AM

One of the major reasons you hear so much about Millennials is because every corporation making money now believes the Millennial demographic is the only one they should be targeting.

They are forgetting Baby Boomers are living longer than their parents did, and Gen Z are kids with access to money. Not to mention the fact the current mass demographic spanning all categories (parent, home owner, employee etc) is General X. For the last 5 years (at least) everything has all been about the Millennial and what Millennial’s want.

General X and General Z don’t even have proper names. This again gives more gravitas to Millennial and Baby Boomers.

by Anonymousreply 47June 9, 2019 11:09 AM

Am gen X and would have NEVER thought I'd still be refered to as ' young'. LMAOROTF. How OLD are you exactly OP,, like Olivia de H. Old ?

by Anonymousreply 48June 9, 2019 11:10 AM

by Anonymousreply 51June 9, 2019 11:29 AM

So who is the guy at OP?

by Anonymousreply 52June 9, 2019 11:38 AM

I’m 41, at the tail end of Gen X, they tell me. I am more tech-communications oriented than older Gen Xers, which makes me a little Millennial-like, but I’m definitely more socially checked out, making me more Gen X. Millennials tend to be excitable, with a whole different social and political orientation. And they really, really need attention.

by Anonymousreply 53June 9, 2019 12:29 PM

Interesting perspective R53

by Anonymousreply 54June 9, 2019 7:16 PM

It seems millennials are basically anybody under the age of 50.

Sorry Gen X and Gen Z, nobody is really into you.

by Anonymousreply 55June 19, 2019 7:15 PM

Millennials have bigger cocks.

by Anonymousreply 56June 19, 2019 7:18 PM

by Anonymousreply 57June 19, 2019 8:23 PM

Uhh R57, but they kind of do. Especially here. Love them or hate them, they're always on your mind apparently.

by Anonymousreply 58June 19, 2019 8:26 PM

r4, That doesn't seem right. There is no way my parents are millennials(born in mid60s), yet aren't they too young to be considered baby boomers.

by Anonymousreply 59June 19, 2019 8:41 PM

They need to do an Unsolved Mysteries missing persons episode for Gen X.

by Anonymousreply 60June 19, 2019 8:43 PM

r5 Exactly. The word "millennial" has become synonymous with a young person or any person under 40.

by Anonymousreply 61June 19, 2019 8:52 PM

I think Gen Z will get more attention once they find a better name. So far, Gen Z sounds zzzzzz

by Anonymousreply 62June 20, 2019 12:07 AM

Many (most?) DLers don't have children, who are the biggest marker that generations are shifting, Hence older heteros are not nearly as shocked by the fact that there's a whole group of people younger than them who have a different set of cultural references.

Add in the Peter Pan Syndrome typical of gay men that age-- "I can't be old! Other people are old, but not me!" (which ties in with the need to blame someone else for the fact that they are no longer a lust object.)

And the fact that so many DLers are not in touch with their families and surround themselves with gay men of the same age and so don't actually know anyone younger and thus will believe that everyone under 40 is an unemployed "influencer" living their parents basement.

And the odd avoidance of most pop culture from the Reagan Administration onwards

And the resentment that gays seem to be far more accepted in many sectors of society, especially compared to the 80s

And the need to blame someone else for all the world's evils ("the fifty thousand Millennials who voted for Jill Stein are worse than the hundred million Boomers who voted for Trump!)

And general crotchetiness

And the lack of knowledge as to the existence of Gen Z

And how witty they feel when typing "Millennio"

by Anonymousreply 63June 20, 2019 12:26 AM

Those are all good points, R63.

Uhh R69 and yet here you are on a thread talking about millennials instead of a thread about GenWhateverYouAre.

Stay triggered.

by Anonymousreply 70June 20, 2019 3:53 AM

I wonder what characteristics will distinguish Gen Z distinctly from Millennials?

I can see the distinctions between Gen X and Millennials along the lines of some traits and markers mentioned throughout this thread so far.

For the life of me however everyone beyond extreme childhood up to age say 35,yo seems amorphously "young" with all the associated 21st C markers that have been bandied about ad nauseum.

Gen Z are about to hit College and the serious consumer and voter demographics+. Their key indicators have got to have something district and different going on however don't they?? I'm too removed from them to know?

Can younger DL pitch in here with insight?

by Anonymousreply 71June 20, 2019 6:36 AM

I would like to know the same thing, R71. Gen Z just seem like miniMillennials to me so far.

by Anonymousreply 72June 20, 2019 6:47 AM

Gen Z are already in college.

Most studies I've read have them as more conservative--they have less sex, drink and do drugs less, not into tattoos, less aggressively "woke" but more accepting of diversity, both sexual and racial, as they grew up in a much more diverse country and so it was always there, not something they had to adapt to

Also while most people my age (34) remember a world pre-iPhones and constant internet access, they don't, it's always been a part of their lives.

Seems in many ways to be sort of the way Gen X was to the Boomers.

by Anonymousreply 73June 20, 2019 10:39 AM

I do find it odd how Gen Z has garnered so little attention. The oldest of them are 22. Even in 1987, people generally recognized that X'ers were a different group than baby boomers.

by Anonymousreply 74June 20, 2019 11:49 AM

The big question is, "What will the generation after generation Z be called?" Will they start at the beginning of the alphabet?

by Anonymousreply 75June 20, 2019 12:08 PM

[quote] Seems in many ways to be sort of the way Gen X was to the Boomers.

I can easily see the ME-lennials overshadowing Gen Z in the same exact dynamic.

by Anonymousreply 76June 20, 2019 12:12 PM

At 40-55, I'm not sure I would count the X as "young". And I am one of them.

by Anonymousreply 97June 26, 2019 3:57 AM

I don't know but there have been other threads about Gen X and Z and they fall flat.

by Anonymousreply 98July 1, 2019 8:24 AM

I think a much more upsetting fact is that as boomers retire, millennials are in their prime to inherit positions of control from them. I have already seen this in the workplace, where senior boomer bosses want to mentor or promote ambitious workers in their 20s and 30s who remind them of themselves when they were their age.

by Anonymousreply 99July 1, 2019 8:50 AM

Generations seem to fall in an alpha-beta pattern. Greatest Generation dominated politics for 40 years with the Silent Gen ignored, until Boomers took over. Since then, it's been sort of a repeat. Even the children of millennials, Generation Alpha, seem primed to be grabbing attention from the overlooked Z's.

by Anonymousreply 100July 1, 2019 9:17 AM

I think it's because there are relatively few Gen Xers - especially the younger end of Gen X, there are relatively very few Americans in their 40s especially, only about 20something million of them - and most Gen Z are kids and teens still and aren't yet much of a threat to the status quo.

But that generation is enormous and it does seem nobody's ready for it.

by Anonymousreply 101July 1, 2019 9:24 AM

Did the numerically small Xers really have so many kids that Gen Z is a huge population though?

by Anonymousreply 109July 1, 2019 11:00 AM

Not really, R109.

To answer OP, because millennials trigger boomers in a way that others never did.

by Anonymousreply 110July 1, 2019 11:16 AM

Millennials overshadowing Z seems like sort of an eerie retread of Boomers/Xers.

by Anonymousreply 111July 1, 2019 11:29 AM

Because, as we were overlooked by our parents' generation, we are overlooked by our younger siblings.

by Anonymousreply 112July 1, 2019 11:34 AM

[quote] senior boomer bosses want to mentor or promote ambitious workers in their 20s and 30s who remind them of themselves

by Anonymousreply 116July 1, 2019 12:14 PM

[quote] millennial leapfrogging

And IMO, some Gen X'ers seem stuck in some strange, archaic 80's honor code timewarp of blood brothers or something where waiting forever is what you must do.

by Anonymousreply 117July 1, 2019 12:22 PM

Gen Z is so big not because the numerically small amount of latter-day Gen Xers had a ton of kids (although we did statistically have more kids than latter day boomers did, obviously), but because they're the kids of Gen X AND millennials, many of whom are plenty old enough by now to have teenagers.

by Anonymousreply 118July 1, 2019 6:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 119July 1, 2019 6:36 PM

The youngest Gen X are in their late 30s (if that), and that's not exactly young. They also increasingly, gradually, affirm some version of Gen Y values, as they no long have to appease the norm of Boomers or older. They're still split though.

Gen Z are in their early 20s at oldest (if that), and that's not exactly prominent yet. They've also retained most values to most of the extent of Gen Y, at least so far. Even if they arguably take a more cynical look at it. Don't be fooled by the right wing astroturfing that they're somehow some latent rise of conservatives. Generally, my impression of Gen Z is that they're the self-styled 'deeper' approach to Millennial issues. That they are the ones that 'really get it', with a very serious face and straight-lined aesthetics. (I'm glad for that, as I quickly got very sick of the Millennial baby music and ukuleles, for example). They see a more cutthroat world ahead of them and they're preparing for that, but so far I haven't detected a more Gen X Wall Street Greed approach to it, though a LOT of GRATUITOUS shilling of any product they can. Very like every Gen Zer is a door to door saleman, but the digital version, but they think they're better, because its with more tech now instead of in person. I see a rise of personal capitalism and appeal to corporations, but not necessarily a particular care about corporate wishes for less regulation. The latter is one of the many things that they'll retain from Gen Y, along with things like a very general acceptance of gay people, and police criticism.

by Anonymousreply 120July 1, 2019 7:34 PM

Yes R120 and there is a lot of cultural/values overlap between older millennials and younger Gen Xers. Some demographers call the 75-85 era generation "Xennials" for that reason.

by Anonymousreply 121July 1, 2019 7:36 PM

R121 Yeah. My personal reference is that I'm 29, but my partner is an older millennial at nearly 33 and with us with lots of 30-something friends. There's definitely difference between when these people were 20somethings and the current 20somethings. The now older ones had a whole 'how do we be progressive' approach, whether activist of casual, while the current 20somethings are more 'I'm woke and you should be/Woke is bs let me live my life' more extreme split. In that sense, emerging Gen Zers will be like Gen X on social issues and very well might let in a right-wing power in the 2020s, but it'd have to get through the filters of a future 30s-40something Millennial generation with a high distaste for anything with a smell of conservative.

Almost all the 30somethings I know, even the rougher manual laborers, have a vibe of 'how do I teach my children to accept others, etc' even if they have the lack of activism that so many Gen Xers also lack, but the 20somethings from when I recently graduated (late) college and in work are more IN IT or NOT IN IT. Regardless, social conservatives are in for a hell of a time with it comes to an older decade of people who disregard them, another decade of people who actively fight them, and another decade that at least lean on preferring away from them (as well at not being as immersed in religion, etc).

by Anonymousreply 130July 4, 2019 9:45 AM

r130 It's because of the myth invented by a conservative writer, Salena Zito, that post-Millennials will be far more conservative than Millennials, that they will grow to be Boomers 2.0. There is no data in support for this thesis - there is refuting it, though. In addition, in late 2018 articles were written showing that Zito put words into the mouths of people she interviews.

From the looks of her, she ain’t putting anything in other people’s mouths. Bitch keeping it all for herself.

by Anonymousreply 132July 4, 2019 11:57 PM

LOL that bitch is dumb. Gen Z is more liberal than we are

by Anonymousreply 133July 5, 2019 12:05 AM

Gen Z gives no fucks about race, gender or orientation. But they're called Zoomers because they're the kids of millennials *and* Gen Xers, so there's a fuck ton of them, i.e., they're a second baby boom.

by Anonymousreply 134July 5, 2019 5:54 PM

I thought the Millennials were the second baby boom?

At least that's what they told us in the 80's when the brats were all being born.

by Anonymousreply 135July 10, 2019 2:15 PM

I think the older generations are flustered because they are being phased out of everything and replaced largely with attention towards millennials but also some Gen Z. It's a millennial world and they just live in it now.

R137, that and they own it...

by Anonymousreply 138July 12, 2019 1:58 PM

The interesting thing is that birth rates have been on a steady decline since the late 2000s. 2018 saw the lowest number of births since the 1980s, so whatever this generation that's currently being born will be called, they will likely be much smaller than the one that precedes them. On the other hand, there are boom and bust years in every generation that balance out the numbers a bit. When you're talking about Millennials, the peak number of births took place in the late 80s/early 90s, so the highest concentration of Millennials currently are in their late 20s/early 30s now. 1990 is the peak Millennial birth year. For Generation Z, the peak birth year is 2007 (which is actually the peak birth year of all time thus far!), where even more babies were born in the U.S. than in the peak year of the Baby Boom (1957). After 2007, the birth rate appears to dramatically decline. Peak Generation Z are currently in their tweens to mid-teens. I don't think we've fully seen their influence yet.

by Anonymousreply 139July 12, 2019 4:51 PM

R138 that too but that will change soon.

by Anonymousreply 140July 13, 2019 2:34 AM

R140: not that soon - the youngest Boomer (though no doubt someone here will, as they always do, try to assert that the widely used cutoff date of 1964 is wrong because it doesn't fit their narrative and thus dispute this) is 55, with another dozen years or so until full retirement to work and - depending on whether male or female - roughly another 16 to 20 years to live after retiring. Improvements in healthcare (and improved self-care like exercise and a better diet) will likely bump those numbers up a bit in the interval as well.

Meaning their wealth, while declining in both absolute and relative terms as Boomers die and subsequent generations accumulate more assets, will still be a factor until the middle of the 21st century or approximately 2050. Presumably, a lot of it will pass to their children or if they have no children, to their heirs by then, enriching subsequent generations - a fact (it's always been this way) seldom mentioned in threads here.

If gay (or "bi" or "curious" or "hungry") male Millennials and especially Gens X and Z were serious about building wealth by means other than salaried employment, one thing they should consider is sucking all the old dick they can find (concentrating, of course, on well-fixed, home-owning old dick resident in high-dollar zip codes who can still get it up) in the expectation that Gramps would put them in the will. All across America this summer there are tens of thousands of hot-looking shirtless guys mowing lawns and working construction in the blazing sun when they could be indoors on their knees - or on their backs if Grandpa can still fuck - securing their financial future with a lot less effort.

I mean, isn't that how Joel is working his way through McGill?

by Anonymousreply 141July 13, 2019 4:22 PM

R141 makes a good point.

by Anonymousreply 142July 14, 2019 12:48 AM

Millennials are the current 20 and 30somethings so of course that is where the current focus of pop culture will be.

by Anonymousreply 143July 14, 2019 1:28 AM

Millennials are rude and triggering.

by Anonymousreply 144July 14, 2019 5:17 AM

Triggered-ass non-Millennials.

by Anonymousreply 145July 14, 2019 8:14 AM

Because it's embarrassing to read about people who think relying on their parents for financial support doesn't becoming embarrassing (to them, anyway) until they're older than 27?

Or because it's even more embarrassing to read that one fifth of them expect to rely on their parents for money into their 30's?

GenX's sexual sell by date has long expired and those Z children aren't doing anything off their phone.

by Anonymousreply 147July 25, 2019 10:15 PM

The millennials are the most stupid.

The rot started here

I have no idea what these demarcations are. M, X, Y? Why not just refer to them by age? Their generation is not more significant than other generation, and not particularly significant on their own.

These pods are in no way similar to the boomers, who were a phenomenon because they were a demographic bulge, due to delayed births from the Depression and War. That’s why the Boomers were a thing.

by Anonymousreply 149July 25, 2019 10:22 PM

In the gay world, Millennials are currently in the catbird seat, but that too will pass with age.

by Anonymousreply 150July 27, 2019 12:29 AM

But the following generation be any more stupid than Millennials?

by Anonymousreply 151July 27, 2019 12:34 AM

Yup r150, they'll find out! LOL

Young and beautiful, someday your looks will be gone.

by Anonymousreply 152July 27, 2019 12:46 AM

I dunno, but they be any more than you R151?

by Anonymousreply 153July 27, 2019 12:46 AM

From my experiences, millennial balls taste salty

by Anonymousreply 154July 27, 2019 1:07 AM

I reckon those millennials should demonstrate to the world that they AREN'T stupid.

by Anonymousreply 155July 27, 2019 1:15 AM

So what's the deal with Gen Z? Shouldn't they be getting attention by now

by Anonymousreply 156July 27, 2019 1:21 AM

R156 nobody cares about them. Even their own parents think they're millennials.

by Anonymousreply 157July 27, 2019 2:44 AM

Boomer and Gen X Bottoms and their expired mussies resent Millennial Bottoms who are stealing cock away from them. That's what this thread boils down to.

by Anonymousreply 158July 27, 2019 6:22 AM

Mussies never expire.

by Anonymousreply 159July 27, 2019 6:35 AM

Gen Z is actually a bigger generation than Millenials or Boomers. They will begin to get more notice soon, probably within the next ten years. It's the children of Millenials (Generation Alpha?) that are going to be closest to Gen X, as Millenials are not having a lot of children.

by Anonymousreply 160July 27, 2019 6:54 AM

Gen Z is not that big. They're only considered large because nobody has put an end cap to their age range yet.

by Anonymousreply 161July 27, 2019 6:57 AM

If Gen X and millennials are both 15 year generations, Gen Z should be too, putting them at a 1997 to 2012 age range. Hence, they are not that big.

by Anonymousreply 162July 27, 2019 6:59 AM

Lets be honest: Each generation tends to only be concerned with the generation they are in. It isn't just a millennial thing.

by Anonymousreply 163July 27, 2019 6:59 AM

R163 not really. Both baby boomers and Gen X had a very foul aggressive attitude towards millennials for the whole entire last decade. You can research some of the earlier Datalounge threads from 2018 and prior for proof. Only recently have Anti Young attitudes changed just a little bit but I suspect that's because Gen X's little brats are coming of age. All of a sudden you will see all of these articles about how great Gen Z is and that they're the greatest thing since sliced bread!

by Anonymousreply 164July 27, 2019 7:12 AM

OP's guy is hot.

by Anonymousreply 165July 27, 2019 7:18 AM

[quote]Both baby boomers and Gen X had a very foul aggressive attitude towards millennials for the whole entire last decade.

That was my point...bitching about someone doesn't mean you're showing concern about them.

by Anonymousreply 166July 27, 2019 7:20 AM

To add to my point, all of a sudden many Gen X parents of teenagers are suddenly concerned for affordable college, probably because that concerns THEM and their payments of their Darling Children. This after they have lectured us about irresponsible debt and whatnot. Baby Boomers are the grandparents being nice to these brats all of a sudden.

Screw these bitches!

by Anonymousreply 167July 27, 2019 7:31 AM

This thread cracks me up.

Bitter Party of One, R167.

by Anonymousreply 169July 27, 2019 7:44 AM

I absolutely own the bitterness, R169, and I stand by everything I said.

Gen X and Boomers are super nice to these new little shits after being absolutely brutal to us.

by Anonymousreply 170July 27, 2019 7:55 AM

Elders aren't always out to get you, R170.

by Anonymousreply 171July 27, 2019 8:24 AM

Because media can't hold more than one thought in their narrative at a time. They have not been able to label a whole generation since X, so they will ride the Millennial wave until long past the Zers are in their 30's.

by Anonymousreply 172July 27, 2019 11:50 AM

R170 I'm Gen X, and I went through a similar experience as you, feeling that my Baby Boomer co-workers were brutal towards me. I remember starting at one work place where I was the 24, and youngest person besides me was 37. It was extremely challenging. I think it's a tendency for some older folks to treat their younger co-workers disrespectfully. Which is why I have gone out of my way to be helpful and kind to my Millennial co-workers. I hope that you too are kind to the young people coming up, we have to set an example.

by Anonymousreply 173July 28, 2019 8:14 PM

^^^ sorry about my second sentence coming out strangely. I was in a rush. I meant that worked at a place where I was 24, and the second youngest person was 37. I need coffee!

by Anonymousreply 174July 28, 2019 8:17 PM

Millennials = Baby Boomers 2.0.

by Anonymousreply 175July 28, 2019 10:31 PM

Millennials are great because they sext to each other all their time!

(and all the oldies can secretly jerk off to those sexting pictures)

by Anonymousreply 176July 28, 2019 10:38 PM

The Gen Zers are a disaster so far.

by Anonymousreply 177November 4, 2019 6:45 PM

Above poster or posters nailed it; key demographic for advertisers and so much more is 18-49, hence all this Millennial attention.

Other major key demographic is 35-64 which covers tail end Boomers, along with a bit of later generations.

by Anonymousreply 178November 4, 2019 7:18 PM

Yeah, Gen Z is sooo irrelevant.
