I think more or less Octavia's character was the wallflower in high school. Now years later she gets revenge with bullies by fucking with their teenage kids! I really like Octavia and Juliette. I'm down for seeing Ma.

Plot is she becomes obsessed with the kids and tortures/kills them when they try and leave.

FWIW, I heard little is given away in the trailer and you'll never see the end coming.

Octavia was on Ellen and they put up a still of the final shot of the trailer with Octavia on the couch surrounded by all the bodies of the dead teenagers and Ellen said "Why would they spoil the ending like that?" Either she's being funny or, as most have suspected, that really is the ending.

Where are people hearing it's good or not? I heard there was an embargo until later this week.

I'm hearing there was a prank played on Octavia's character when she was young and she's getting revenge on the children of the people who did it to her.

I think this could be super fun.

R7, It's about a dangerous and disturbed black woman, who looks all sweet, comforting and wise. Who in our modern term is "down" and here to give white kids a place to party. The motherly black woman who is here to teach white kids a magical life lesson, which SHE ISN'T. Get it? It's a play on that trope which I think is fabulous. The trope? The Mammy trope much like from "Gone With the Wind" and other movies and t.v. shows, she's round, cute and smiling. Happily she watches over the white chilin' such as Miss Scarlet, making sure they do the right thing and don't act like "po' white trash".... although Mammy is very respected and loved she is still a slave whose life revolves around white people. She's taking care of children that aren't hers because the parents are too busy to raise their own children.

I saw a commercial and she runs down some lady with her car/truck. I really want to see this

Reviews are shockingly positive, all praising Spencer's performance and comparing it to both Sissy Spacek and Piper Laurie in Carrie as well as Bette Davis in Baby Jane. Wow! This might really be something special.

I saw it last night and it's pretty entertaining. Octavia Spencer walks away with the movie and is excellent. One of her best roles to date.

There's also a really cute guy who Spencer's character forces to strip at gunpoint and you get to see his cute little butt. Wasn't expecting that.
