Where Presidential Candidate Joe Biden Stands On Marijuana: "I still believe it's a gateway drug. I've spent a lot of my life as chairman of the Judiciary Committee dealing with this. I think it would be a mistake to legalize."
They don't call him Slow Joe for nothing. I can't believe the crop of Dem losers this election cycle.

This is why Trump will win in 2020. Even Trump doesn't say anything as stupid as this.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 27, 2019 12:57 AM |
Trump says things that are stupider than this multiple times every day.
This was still a really stupid thing to say. He doesn't seem to know what year it is.

DOA. Time to wrap it up, Joe.

I wonder is it that Joe doesn't have good advisors or is it that the doesn't listen to them.

[QUOTE]I wonder is it that Joe doesn't have good advisors or is it that the doesn't listen to them.
There is nothing quoted in OP’s article that’s associated with the Biden 2020 campaign. It’s just a rehash of where he stood in the past.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 27, 2019 1:23 AM |
He’s like every other old fart, they know best and you can’t tell them anything.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 27, 2019 1:24 AM |
For some people it is. It’s not an absolute. Some people can smoke every day and be productive members of society. Some burn out.
Some never try anything harder. Some become junkies. Everyone’s different.

No need to worry. He won't even get the nomination.

Alcohol is the gateway drug.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | April 27, 2019 1:56 AM |
Why are people here so pro-marijuana? it's always been a small minority of people who use it.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | April 27, 2019 1:56 AM |
Why is JOE even bringing up this non-issue when most people on both sides agree on legalization at this point. He's only going to alienate some of his own voters with this.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 27, 2019 1:58 AM |
Should be more concerned about opioid addiction

by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 27, 2019 1:59 AM |
There is something to Joe's comment, but making it is incredibly tone deaf to where the Party is now.
He is so last century...

I'm a Canadian and Americans are far more conservative - a lot more of them than we think are probably not in favor of legal marijuana. Joe is playing it safe and I don't blame him.

That's the point of believing that a drug is a "gateway" drug. Your main concern is what it leads to.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | April 27, 2019 2:05 AM |
More & more states are legalizing it R26. Bringing back 80s War on Drugs rhetoric is not a good read of the country right now, especially for a Democratic candidate.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | April 27, 2019 2:08 AM |
R21 He’s not bringing it up; they’re using a quote from 2010 and implying it was said during his current campaign.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | April 27, 2019 2:09 AM |
Well, he is not winning California on Super Tuesday.

If only we had actual data to know the numbers behind this rather than relying on stereotypes and generalizations about the third-largest society on Earth.
Oh wait, we do.
No need to guess about more/less than "we think" when there's social science research.

Did you even read the article? Joe didn’t bring anything up. This is just more scaremongering by anti-Biden forces.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | April 27, 2019 2:12 AM |
Oddly enough, I’ve never tried it. Curious, indeed. Now that CA has legalized pot, I’d like to try. Maybe a pot brownie?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | April 27, 2019 2:35 AM |
Ironically, I think the only way I would vote for him in the primary is if I was high

Wrong on cannabis -- what year is it, Joe? -- and totally flubbed the Anita Hill issue, which was (as anyone could have predicted) brought up IMMEDIATELY after he announced. He acted like he was surprised to be asked about it. He couldn't produce the apology on the View even when it was modeled for him, and when he tried to repair that afterwards he screwed it up again. Message to Joe: Thread closed. It's over.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | April 27, 2019 2:43 AM |
R33 I've tried it and it affected my nervous system in an uncomfortable manner. Here in Canada it's legal but I'm NOT a customer.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | April 27, 2019 2:43 AM |
[R33], you get a medal!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 37 | April 27, 2019 2:45 AM |
The marijuana issue is not about marijuana as a drug or what it does to you or how it makes you feel. It is about criminal justice reform. It's about tens or hundreds of thousands of especially black and brown young men who have had their lives and their families' lives destabilized or destroyed by incarceration for low-level cannabis offenses, needlessly and unfairly. They should be granted immediate release with records expunged, but with -- and this is crucial -- major supports in education, training, counseling, etc. to support them in making the transition back to civilian life (and voting rights!). These are "reparations" that must be paid to demonstrate a real commitment to justice and to the healing of our communities and lives.

but 150 per cent for legalizxation.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | April 27, 2019 2:51 AM |
R38 Total PC answer. No one is forcing anyone, including black and brown men, to smoke weed or sell it. Get off your soap box.

Pot isn't just about stoners anymore. People use it to combat pain from illnesses such as cancer. Supposedly works better and is less addictive and threatening than opioids.
The problem isn't so much that Biden is completely out of touch (on many times) it's that he's unwilling to gravitate towards a more modern perspective. This is going to sink him with younger voters. It's disqualifying.

They are out of touch with real people and issues and stay out of touch and isolated from the real problems in this country and end up doing nothing .
