Where Presidential Candidate Joe Biden Stands On Marijuana: "I still believe it's a gateway drug. I've spent a lot of my life as chairman of the Judiciary Committee dealing with this. I think it would be a mistake to legalize."

They don't call him Slow Joe for nothing. I can't believe the crop of Dem losers this election cycle.

by Anonymousreply 1April 27, 2019 12:53 AM

well, it is.

by Anonymousreply 2April 27, 2019 12:55 AM

This is why Trump will win in 2020. Even Trump doesn't say anything as stupid as this.

by Anonymousreply 3April 27, 2019 12:57 AM

Trump says things that are stupider than this multiple times every day.

This was still a really stupid thing to say. He doesn't seem to know what year it is.

by Anonymousreply 4April 27, 2019 12:59 AM

Too Fukin Old. Wash Rinse Repeat

by Anonymousreply 5April 27, 2019 1:06 AM

DOA. Time to wrap it up, Joe.

by Anonymousreply 6April 27, 2019 1:18 AM

I wonder is it that Joe doesn't have good advisors or is it that the doesn't listen to them.

by Anonymousreply 7April 27, 2019 1:20 AM

[QUOTE]I wonder is it that Joe doesn't have good advisors or is it that the doesn't listen to them.

There is nothing quoted in OP’s article that’s associated with the Biden 2020 campaign. It’s just a rehash of where he stood in the past.

by Anonymousreply 8April 27, 2019 1:23 AM

He’s like every other old fart, they know best and you can’t tell them anything.

by Anonymousreply 9April 27, 2019 1:24 AM

For some people it is. It’s not an absolute. Some people can smoke every day and be productive members of society. Some burn out.

Some never try anything harder. Some become junkies. Everyone’s different.

by Anonymousreply 10April 27, 2019 1:28 AM

Dude, you are so done

Joe is dead to me.

by Anonymousreply 13April 27, 2019 1:35 AM

No need to worry. He won't even get the nomination.

by Anonymousreply 14April 27, 2019 1:36 AM

Who will, R14?

by Anonymousreply 15April 27, 2019 1:45 AM

This reminds me of all the gun nuts who were afraid Obama would take away their guns.

by Anonymousreply 16April 27, 2019 1:52 AM

His son was kicked out of the Army Reserve for testing positive for cocaine.

by Anonymousreply 17April 27, 2019 1:53 AM

Alcohol is the gateway drug.

by Anonymousreply 18April 27, 2019 1:56 AM

Why are people here so pro-marijuana? it's always been a small minority of people who use it.

by Anonymousreply 19April 27, 2019 1:56 AM

Stuck in the past.

Why is JOE even bringing up this non-issue when most people on both sides agree on legalization at this point. He's only going to alienate some of his own voters with this.

by Anonymousreply 21April 27, 2019 1:58 AM

Should be more concerned about opioid addiction

by Anonymousreply 22April 27, 2019 1:59 AM

I agree with him.

by Anonymousreply 23April 27, 2019 1:59 AM

R18 Not for me. I just became an alcoholic.

by Anonymousreply 24April 27, 2019 1:59 AM

There is something to Joe's comment, but making it is incredibly tone deaf to where the Party is now.

He is so last century...

by Anonymousreply 25April 27, 2019 2:04 AM

I'm a Canadian and Americans are far more conservative - a lot more of them than we think are probably not in favor of legal marijuana. Joe is playing it safe and I don't blame him.

by Anonymousreply 26April 27, 2019 2:04 AM

[quote]Should be more concerned about opiod addiction

That's the point of believing that a drug is a "gateway" drug. Your main concern is what it leads to.

by Anonymousreply 27April 27, 2019 2:05 AM

More & more states are legalizing it R26. Bringing back 80s War on Drugs rhetoric is not a good read of the country right now, especially for a Democratic candidate.

by Anonymousreply 28April 27, 2019 2:08 AM

R21 He’s not bringing it up; they’re using a quote from 2010 and implying it was said during his current campaign.

by Anonymousreply 29April 27, 2019 2:09 AM

Well, he is not winning California on Super Tuesday.

by Anonymousreply 30April 27, 2019 2:11 AM

If only we had actual data to know the numbers behind this rather than relying on stereotypes and generalizations about the third-largest society on Earth.

Oh wait, we do.

No need to guess about more/less than "we think" when there's social science research.

Did you even read the article? Joe didn’t bring anything up. This is just more scaremongering by anti-Biden forces.

by Anonymousreply 32April 27, 2019 2:12 AM

Oddly enough, I’ve never tried it. Curious, indeed. Now that CA has legalized pot, I’d like to try. Maybe a pot brownie?

by Anonymousreply 33April 27, 2019 2:35 AM

Ironically, I think the only way I would vote for him in the primary is if I was high

by Anonymousreply 34April 27, 2019 2:38 AM

Wrong on cannabis -- what year is it, Joe? -- and totally flubbed the Anita Hill issue, which was (as anyone could have predicted) brought up IMMEDIATELY after he announced. He acted like he was surprised to be asked about it. He couldn't produce the apology on the View even when it was modeled for him, and when he tried to repair that afterwards he screwed it up again. Message to Joe: Thread closed. It's over.

by Anonymousreply 35April 27, 2019 2:43 AM

R33 I've tried it and it affected my nervous system in an uncomfortable manner. Here in Canada it's legal but I'm NOT a customer.

by Anonymousreply 36April 27, 2019 2:43 AM

[R33], you get a medal!!!!!

by Anonymousreply 37April 27, 2019 2:45 AM

The marijuana issue is not about marijuana as a drug or what it does to you or how it makes you feel. It is about criminal justice reform. It's about tens or hundreds of thousands of especially black and brown young men who have had their lives and their families' lives destabilized or destroyed by incarceration for low-level cannabis offenses, needlessly and unfairly. They should be granted immediate release with records expunged, but with -- and this is crucial -- major supports in education, training, counseling, etc. to support them in making the transition back to civilian life (and voting rights!). These are "reparations" that must be paid to demonstrate a real commitment to justice and to the healing of our communities and lives.

by Anonymousreply 38April 27, 2019 2:50 AM

Hate, hate , hate the stuff ,but 150 per cent for legalization!

but 150 per cent for legalizxation.

by Anonymousreply 39April 27, 2019 2:51 AM

R38 Total PC answer. No one is forcing anyone, including black and brown men, to smoke weed or sell it. Get off your soap box.

by Anonymousreply 40April 27, 2019 2:54 AM

Joe has been saying stupid things for decades. But when I was a lobbyist I can tell you he had the BEST staff.

by Anonymousreply 41April 27, 2019 2:56 AM

R41 Good to know!

by Anonymousreply 42April 28, 2019 3:05 AM

Be Best!

by Anonymousreply 43April 28, 2019 3:11 AM

Pot isn't just about stoners anymore. People use it to combat pain from illnesses such as cancer. Supposedly works better and is less addictive and threatening than opioids.

The problem isn't so much that Biden is completely out of touch (on many times) it's that he's unwilling to gravitate towards a more modern perspective. This is going to sink him with younger voters. It's disqualifying.

by Anonymousreply 44November 19, 2019 12:12 AM

Has he taken a look at his son?

by Anonymousreply 45November 19, 2019 12:14 AM

Im sorry all you DL people that vote your pocketbook and just love to vote for what is going to be food for the DJIA................this is the kind of candidate and president you get and I include Obama in this category. They are out of touch with real people and issues and stay out of touch and isolated from the real problems in this country and end up doing nothing .

by Anonymousreply 46November 19, 2019 1:16 AM
