Lunatics
Who's watching? If nothing else, the production values are amazing. Ten episodes, so Netflix must have spent a fortune.
But the characters - and their creator, Australian comic Chris Lilley - seem to have offended all the reviewers.
The GUARDIAN, bless them, gives him one star. To quote them: "Lunatics is a disaster: not just unfunny and problematic, but boring and utterly unrelenting: a parade of annoying characters doing meaningless and gratuitous things".
So I guess they didn't like it.

This is one for the 'cultural shifts of our times' thread.
A few years back when Chris Lilley was introduced to the UK by the BBC he was deemed a comic genius and the most talented comedian of his generation. These days doing pretty much the same stuff as he did before and he's guilty of literal genocide and must be cancelled.

I started watching it, but it honestly is just more of the same. I actually really loved his early work, but there's something about this outing that seems very dated. I haven't watched the entire show, so I can't definitively say whether it all works, but I just felt like I'd seen it already.

The negative reviews make it sound amazing, so I watched the trailer. The trailer makes the reviews seem generous.

The severely mentally ill former porn star is my favourite.

She's so funny R5 and the pet psychic. They way "She" tossed that trash bag into the pile of trash bags --for some reason--really got me.
Lilley has always been like Ullman to me. When he hits--he hits but a miss is most def a miss. I respect that kind of talent, so I'm fine with a few chuckles per episode.

Shame they couldn't find any hits for the trailer.

It's more of the same to diminishing returns, it's not great, but nowhere near as bad as the Guardian review.

I got half-way through the first episode. The only thing offensive about it is just how unfunny it is.

It's "classic Lilley". It's a bit hit and miss, sometimes you wonder where the hell he's going with it but there's a heart to it and everyone has a happy ending. The South African dog whisperer was brilliant.

Watched the first episode and won't bother watching more. The pet psychic and the porn star are watchable, but the others not at all. And the fact that the characters aren't interrelated in any way doesn't help - there's no connection between the characters. He's definitely aiming for a quick buck here.

It would be the same with Little Britain - it couldn't be done today.
