What Was Rosenstein Thinking During Barr’s Speech?

He never moved or blinked, it was really creepy.

Perhaps he was thinking:

He’s the one who justified firing Comey to cover for Trump.

And then Trump threw him under the bus by admitting on international TV he fired Comey because of the “Rusher” thing.

He’s a tool & will go down in history as such.

by Anonymousreply 3April 18, 2019 7:56 PM

He’s just another republican, like John Kelly, pretending he’s shocked but really isn’t. He’s trying to play to both sides with his visage while firmly staying with the GOP

by Anonymousreply 4April 18, 2019 7:56 PM

He knows.

I can't imagine his internal torment.

This is going to turn in to Watergate x10.

by Anonymousreply 5April 18, 2019 8:04 PM

He’s the current example of one of the OJ lawyers.

by Anonymousreply 6April 18, 2019 8:11 PM

[quote]I can't imagine his internal torment.

I, too, find it impossible to contemplate the vast emptiness and nothingness that constitutes the sum total of someone like that's internal torment.

by Anonymousreply 7April 18, 2019 8:13 PM

Considering Nine of these people would recognize a conscience if it rose up and bit them in the ads, my guess is "shit! Did I leave the oven on??"

by Anonymousreply 8April 18, 2019 8:15 PM

...and he coulda been a contender!...

by Anonymousreply 9April 18, 2019 8:16 PM

I always feel bad for the people behind, when some big shot is speaking to the press and they make their subordinates stand behind them. I am sure they stand there thinking, have no reaction that anyone can read things into and what ever you do don't sneeze, OMG now I have to sneeze, don't sneeze.

by Anonymousreply 10April 18, 2019 8:17 PM

Rosenstein supports Barr 100% or else he wouldn’t be there. If Rosenstein disagreed with Barr, he’d have resigned and gone out on a high note.

But he hasn’t

by Anonymousreply 11April 18, 2019 8:17 PM

Obviously I meant 'none' of these people. (there's Way more than nine..

by Anonymousreply 12April 18, 2019 8:18 PM

R5, as much as I wish you were right..how? That is, EVERYTHING this AHole has done, he has done without repurcussion and with impunity.

At this point, Trump got away. Again.

by Anonymousreply 13April 18, 2019 8:18 PM

Like Melania Trump, Rosenstein is being given the benefit of the doubt long after he’s shown he doesn’t deserve it.

by Anonymousreply 14April 18, 2019 8:19 PM

He's Littlefinger. He supports anyone that will allow him access to the room and when that person is killed off, he'll swiftly denounce him and make friends with the executioner. Unlike Littlefinger, he'll survive. I'm sure he hopes to run the DoJ one day.

by Anonymousreply 15April 18, 2019 8:22 PM

If r5 is referring to what I think he is, he's absolutely right. Hold on for the ride homeys!

by Anonymousreply 16April 18, 2019 8:28 PM

by Anonymousreply 17April 18, 2019 8:29 PM

He was a POW tape while in captivity.

by Anonymousreply 18April 18, 2019 8:30 PM

What do you think it is, R16?

by Anonymousreply 19April 18, 2019 8:35 PM

He doesn't want to be McCabed!

by Anonymousreply 20April 18, 2019 8:40 PM

For all of you that think this IS WATERGATE II--------all of that has been done before by MSNBC. No, nothing is going to happen to the creep in the WH, most unfortunately.

All of the hyperbolics will surely be continued by MSNBC too. But I watch no more. Teflon Don, as toxic as he is wins again.

by Anonymousreply 21April 18, 2019 8:41 PM

All of this is so unfair. Will we ever see truth or justice again. I simply can't watch any of this anymore.

by Anonymousreply 22April 18, 2019 8:46 PM

"Oh fuck, i'm now in the history books...w/ this lard ass".

by Anonymousreply 23April 18, 2019 8:47 PM

Ummm, I don't think that's what's going to happen. Problem is it's not going to happen quickly. The House is going to have Mueller testify and the report is going to be exposed more and more. This is going to happen soon. Also, 12 of the 14 cases the report spawned (and are redacted) in the Mueller report) are ongoing. This is not close to over. Trump may get through to the end of his Presidency, but he will be in court and maybe even jail thereafter. The fraud and illegal activity outlined in the case against his "Foundation" alone can do him in. And it currently does not even make mention in the news. This one involves his children as well.

by Anonymousreply 24April 18, 2019 8:48 PM

R24, nothing will happen.Take that to the bank.It is over. Believe me.

Hope for a 2020 loss.

by Anonymousreply 25April 18, 2019 8:52 PM

R21, huh you better tell Adam Schiff and the intel committee that. They have just requested the company of Mueller for the dance. First comes the ask, then come the subpoenas.

by Anonymousreply 26April 18, 2019 8:52 PM

R26, congress planned to investigate this, no matter what was in the report.

Nothing will come of this. Again.

by Anonymousreply 27April 18, 2019 8:56 PM

Congress will look aim at obstruction, but it will not stick. BECAUSE...WAIT FOR IT....

The douchbag Senator Richard Burr gave the White House lawyers info on the FBI Russian Investigation he gleaned from the testimony of Comey.

by Anonymousreply 30April 18, 2019 9:03 PM

R13, what did he get away with? You can’t mean collusion with Russia?! Yikes.

by Anonymousreply 31April 18, 2019 9:06 PM

R16, do you mean Obama spying on Trump?

That’s literally exactly like Watergate: a POTUS spying on the opposite party. Wonder what will come of this.....

by Anonymousreply 32April 18, 2019 9:16 PM

He looked horrified, like a man who sold his soul to the devil. He was probably thinking about what a failure of a man, patriot and Jewish American he is. OTOH It's easy to imagine that Putin has kompromat on all of them, that they were given offers they couldn't refuse. That's what he looked like to me.

by Anonymousreply 33April 18, 2019 9:35 PM

It’s obvious from space that Barr mis-characterized (lied) the Mueller Report.

Rod is standing behind someone who has zero credibility. He should be deeply ashamed to go down in history with these thugs.

Rosenstein probably decided to side with Trump in order to keep Jared in charge if the Middle East. Trump delivered Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and is about to deliver the West Bank.

Let’s face it — almost NO Republican politicians have broken with Trump ....it’s mostly republican advisers who have broken with him. Look at Stephen Schmidt, a real Varys. He was all “i‘m not a republican anymore” and then he joined Howard Schultz campaign. Schultz is nothing but an egomaniacal jerk who wants to derail whoever the dem candidate will be. Mitt Romney & Megan McCain insult Trump but back his policies 100%, defend Trump, and call democrats filthy, disgusting, stupid socialist commutes who want to destroy America.

We were fools to think Mueller and Rosenstein were any different.

R40, This is a war we are fighting. It isn't going to be won through a report. This is one part of the world wide rise of fascism. We stand and fight because the alternative is their boots on our necks. Institutional men, like mueller and Rosenstein, believe in the institution. We have learned that. We continue fighting with this new information.

by Anonymousreply 42April 18, 2019 11:25 PM

Rod Rosenstein was thinking what a fucking weasel he is and always will be ;Rod the weasel. He was also thinking about how he’s so nervous he wants to put his hands in his armpits and then sniff his fingers and how soon can he get home and do so, what a creep,

by Anonymousreply 43April 18, 2019 11:31 PM

The Southern District of New York has yet to weigh in.

Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown. Maybe more so the princelings and the son-in-law.

It's only just begun.

by Anonymousreply 44April 18, 2019 11:38 PM

Rosenstein wrote the memo to fire Comey, but when Trump endlessly referred to Rosenstein‘s justification, which Trump ordered written but which Trump never acknowledged, Rosenstein got pissed and was ready to resign over it. He got played and it offended him.

by Anonymousreply 45April 18, 2019 11:44 PM

Yeah, well he's not that smart then, is he?

He just got played again. And while he's leaving, he's still there.

by Anonymousreply 46April 18, 2019 11:51 PM

Rosenstein is also the one who wrote the very narrow limits to Mueller’s investigation and who conducted the fake fbi investigation into Kavanaugh.

by Anonymousreply 47April 18, 2019 11:51 PM

Yet, he persists, R45.

by Anonymousreply 48April 18, 2019 11:52 PM

I think he will resign within weeks. He wants out as quickly as possible. Just another rat.

by Anonymousreply 49April 19, 2019 12:02 AM

He previously said he was staying on until the Mueller report was complete, so I expect he’ll announce his departure any day now. The question is, once he’s a private citizen, how soon will he be subpoenaed by the House committees?

by Anonymousreply 50April 19, 2019 12:17 AM

Rosenstein’s reputation as a sniveling, weasel of a coward is cemented...ugh

by Anonymousreply 51April 19, 2019 12:38 AM

R32 to some extent, but it's more the lines crossed by certain government officials, particularly in the form of approving and signing off on various activities with no legitimate or legal reason to do so. As a government employee with some level of clearance, I am well aware of what can and cannot be done. And everything has a paper trail and numerous participants. No man is an island in the government, ever

by Anonymousreply 52April 19, 2019 1:34 AM

I'm no Trumper, but have been interested in this from the beginning due to the fact that it appears to have started long before he was ever a viable candidate, which according to popular opinion he never was anyway.

Which makes you wonder why all this was done in the first place. Why him and not Jeb! Or Mario? Why Trump? No one ever thought Hills would lose, let alone to him

by Anonymousreply 53April 19, 2019 1:38 AM

He looked like the typical shell-shocked wife standing up beside her man as he admits to diddling boys on the side. You know, that resolute "we've been through a lot, and we'll get through this too" stare devoid of reality.

by Anonymousreply 54April 19, 2019 1:40 AM

Just pretend you're Mike Pence. Just pretend you're Mike Pence...

by Anonymousreply 55April 19, 2019 1:54 AM

Rosenstein is your basic pencil-dicked nerdy Jew.

Were you expecting some heroics?

by Anonymousreply 56April 19, 2019 4:51 AM

[quote]Trump may get through to the end of his Presidency, but he will be in court and maybe even jail thereafter.

He absolutely will not. No one in either the political or judicial arena wants a sitting president (or former sitting president) on trial or in jail, and it will not happen.

People have to stop believing that a president will go to jail. They will not. Never.

Are you really unaware of the numerous crimes and atrocities previous presidents committed, whichlead to exactly zero of them going to jail? It doesn't happen.

by Anonymousreply 57April 19, 2019 6:42 AM

by Anonymousreply 60April 21, 2019 5:20 PM

And, R28, you stupid fucking troll, you need a new American government textbook translated into Russian for you because that's not how impeachment works.

by Anonymousreply 63April 21, 2019 5:28 PM

McCabe, I believe, said "Rod is a survivor." And that always stuck with me.

He saw what happened to McCabe - fired one day before he could receive his pension - and he isn't going to let that happen to him. And round Billy knows it.

Rod will do what he has to in order to survive. No matter what the personal cost.

by Anonymousreply 64April 21, 2019 5:37 PM

But, R64, he already announced he's leaving. After that, I'm hoping he stands up.

by Anonymousreply 65April 21, 2019 5:39 PM

Rosenstein knows he will be greatly rewarded by the GOP. He’ll go into the private sector and make big bucks with multi-gigs. Sit on the board of a couple of think tanks, be named a consultant to “global security firms,” be listed as a consulting partner in law firms, be legal consult to Wall Street financial firms. He’s going to reap beaucoup buckeroos and living through the media circus since 2017 will be worth it.

Firing Comey - worth it.

Backing Barr - worth it.

Rosenstein knows what Mueller found and he’s right up there next to Barr. He’s not hiding, he’s not quitting. Barr asked him to stay in for a bit and he agreed to do it.

We live in a society now that is so fast moving and so in the moment that I just don't think they care at all what history will say about them.

by Anonymousreply 74April 22, 2019 1:46 AM

by Anonymousreply 75April 22, 2019 2:12 AM

R75 In case fat lady... I mean liar Barr needed backup singers?

by Anonymousreply 76April 22, 2019 2:21 AM

Rosenstein was standing there because people waiting for their retirement will eat any shit you send their way.

by Anonymousreply 77April 22, 2019 3:46 AM

R76 By backup singers.. I meant backup liars.

by Anonymousreply 78April 22, 2019 3:53 AM

Do we know if Rosenstein actually needs extra time to collect his pension? I'm sure he's vested by now. And, honestly, does he really need the money? He's earned in the past and he'll earn plenty in the future. Is a pension from this job alone enough? I'm still holding out hope that he's sticking around so he can turn into our generation's deep throat.

by Anonymousreply 79April 22, 2019 3:57 AM

It's not the Department of Justice... It's the Department of Corruption.

by Anonymousreply 80April 22, 2019 3:59 AM

It's government work. They are all thinking about their pensions. That's what they do in government work.

Except maybe for Barrf. God knows why he campaigned for this job.

by Anonymousreply 81April 22, 2019 4:08 AM

R81 Barr loves corruption. Duh! He's a pig rolling in mud right now!

by Anonymousreply 82April 22, 2019 4:11 AM

“What should I wear for Passover?”

by Anonymousreply 83April 22, 2019 4:14 AM

So, how long does Rosenstein have until his pension kicks in? He was supposed to leave last year. Then it was changed to earlier this year. Then it was March. Then it was when the Mueller Report came out. If he keeps saying he's going to leave, I assume he's already vested for his government pension. There's another reason he's sticking around. So, he's either also corrupt or he's an insider working for our side.

by Anonymousreply 84April 22, 2019 5:04 AM

Rod is thinking about the tell-all book he could write once this thing blows sky high.

by Anonymousreply 85April 22, 2019 5:12 AM

I wish AOC would ask Mueller or Michael Cohen if there is any dirt on anyone in Congress relating to Russia. The the camera keep a split screen focus especially on Devin Nunes as she asks this question.
