His kickoff event due to start imminently-and no one’s there.
Booker can’t draw a crowd
|by Anonymous||reply 148||Last Tuesday at 6:34 PM|
Not surprised. He’s inauthentic somehow.
|by Anonymous||reply 1||04/13/2019|
Inauthentic and unhinged.
|by Anonymous||reply 2||04/13/2019|
Closets are suffocating.
|by Anonymous||reply 3||04/13/2019|
will he use this "rally' to close up shop, then?
|by Anonymous||reply 4||04/13/2019|
You mean his Hillary hating beard isn't helping him? Shocker!
|by Anonymous||reply 5||04/13/2019|
I just got this text. Not sure why. Perhaps the should have tried this before 45 minutes until speech.
[quote]Hi, this is Michael w/ Cory 2020! Cory's getting on stage TODAY at 1pm @ Military Park in Newark. Can you make it? LMK if you have Qs.

|by Anonymous||reply 7||04/13/2019|
|by Anonymous||reply 8||04/13/2019|
"Justice For All" = except for friends like Jussie of course.
|by Anonymous||reply 9||04/13/2019|
He seems like a nice guy, but I have no idea what he stands for.
|by Anonymous||reply 10||04/13/2019|
R6 " OK I am LYK that I have a Q. Is Cory LGBTQIAPOC+2?"
|by Anonymous||reply 11||04/13/2019|
Newark police tell CNN: they were planning for a crowd of as many as 10,000 people for Cory Booker’s kickoff rally. The program still hasn’t started (it was set to begin at 11:30a), but it’s clear the attendance is far smaller than expected.
|by Anonymous||reply 12||04/13/2019|
There’s really no way to spin this turnout for Booker. It was rainy early this morning but had cleared by the time I arrived on site around 9a. Now it’s sunny and beautiful. No problems with security/folks accessing the site.
|by Anonymous||reply 13||04/13/2019|
|by Anonymous||reply 14||04/13/2019|
This has to hurt. Not even sure how you continue after this. Looks like the high school football stands for a team that never wins.
Particularly insulting because he’s doing this in a highly liberal area with a huge population. And I suspect Buttigieg’s rollout will be huge and it’s in the middle of nowhere.
Serves Booker right for bearding with that Hillary hating bitch.
|by Anonymous||reply 15||04/13/2019|
Booker’s desperate to be Obama 2.0. About 16 other candidates will be joining him in the loser bin.
|by Anonymous||reply 16||04/13/2019|
|by Anonymous||reply 17||04/13/2019|
|by Anonymous||reply 18||04/13/2019|
Mostly it seems like poor planning.
|by Anonymous||reply 19||04/13/2019|
A lot of his supporters are probably at Coachella. That's why no one is there.
|by Anonymous||reply 20||04/13/2019|
Cory must be raging inside seeing all of the press and buzz an openly gay candidate is getting.
It's going to be too embarrassing to come out now. This means several more years, if not an entire lifetime, of bearding stunts.
|by Anonymous||reply 21||04/13/2019|
Maybe because his gayness is one of politic's worst kept secrets and they are weary of fakeness. Pete Buttegieg is open and out. Chicago has a black openly lesbian mayor. Bridgeport, PA's mayor is a gay black man fighting racism and homophobia every day. Just come out Corey. Of course now it would look pandering, but whatever.
|by Anonymous||reply 22||04/13/2019|
It's that wonky eye! It scares people -
|by Anonymous||reply 23||04/13/2019|
He talks like a preacher. He should’ve announced his candidacy at a Baptist Church.
|by Anonymous||reply 24||04/13/2019|
R24, absolutely. Then he could have complete control over the crowd optics.
Also, people in the Northeast have many other ways to spend a Saturday. A presidential announcement isn't going to be a big deal like in a small town in the Midwest.
|by Anonymous||reply 25||04/13/2019|
He seems inauthentic because he’s lying about the most essential part of himself: HE’S GAY.
|by Anonymous||reply 26||04/13/2019|
That is so embarrassingly cringey. He must be humiliated.
|by Anonymous||reply 27||04/13/2019|
R26 the times changed too fast for him.
|by Anonymous||reply 28||04/13/2019|
What’s the big deal? Just declare it the biggest crowd ever.
|by Anonymous||reply 29||04/13/2019|
R15: Shut up about Hillary already, she's gone. NO ONE wants to hear about her or who done her wrong 3 fucking years ago. If that is your criteria for supporting a candidate this go around, you need serious help. And I don't even support Coriander!
|by Anonymous||reply 30||04/13/2019|
Who was he? Who did he hope to be?
|by Anonymous||reply 31||04/13/2019|
When did he get so preachery? I had seen him years ago and thought he had a pretty good presentation and disposition . He is getting some bad advice ( just saw a clip of the rally)
|by Anonymous||reply 32||04/13/2019|
not surprising at all, and despite the press buildup and the polls for biden, he isnt going to draw crowds either. people with no imagination, or zero knowledge of current politics recognize the name of biden and that is why his poll #s are what they are.
|by Anonymous||reply 33||04/13/2019|
Purses are flying in all directions.
|by Anonymous||reply 34||04/13/2019|
R31 - he is SPARTACUS!
|by Anonymous||reply 35||04/13/2019|
R3 Do you not believe in the love between him and Rosario?
|by Anonymous||reply 36||04/13/2019|
Why is he wearing a suit and tie? Way too formal for a weekend outdoor event. Sets the wrong note. You never see Beto dressed like this.
|by Anonymous||reply 37||04/13/2019|
A weak platform doesn't attract people.
|by Anonymous||reply 38||04/13/2019|
She need to quit
|by Anonymous||reply 39||04/13/2019|
I wanna see him naked!
Bet he has big thick and meaty bone
AND that fat ass!!!
Leak some nudes Cory!!!!!
|by Anonymous||reply 40||04/13/2019|
R6 What does "LMK if you have Qs" mean?
Why is he bald?
|by Anonymous||reply 41||04/13/2019|
R41 Let Me Know if you have any questions
|by Anonymous||reply 42||04/13/2019|
He's playing Michael Jackson music? Is he going to talk about Leaving Neverland?
|by Anonymous||reply 43||04/13/2019|
R43 Maybe he's also a pedophile who hates the color of his own skin.
|by Anonymous||reply 44||04/13/2019|
He seems so insincere.
|by Anonymous||reply 45||04/13/2019|
I posted r45 before I saw r1. I completely agree. It's hard to say why he makes that impression.
|by Anonymous||reply 46||04/13/2019|
What [R22] said.
|by Anonymous||reply 47||04/13/2019|
He didn't really play MJ music, did he?
|by Anonymous||reply 48||04/13/2019|
Will he shed tears of rage when he sees that crowd?
|by Anonymous||reply 49||04/13/2019|
When you really think about it both sides have really weak candidates.
Miss Cory is a complete mess.
|by Anonymous||reply 50||04/13/2019|
I have my favorites but none of them are worth getting out of bed for until we see them on the big stage. After the first debate, I think people will ready to start publicly supporting candidates. Most Dems I know are worried sick about Trump getting a second term, a very likely scenario, thus we need someone that can handle the job. Cory is such a weak candidate that I wouldn't even want him to be VP. I'd think being a senator would be better than a cabinet position, but I may be wrong.
We want to avoid backing a Robot Rubio. Great on paper, terrible at game time.
|by Anonymous||reply 51||04/13/2019|
r50 not really. Republican's have an absolute rockstar candidate that fires up his base. If we don't beat him in 2020, then he will turned into a God-like figure 10x worse than Reagan. Trust me the Republicans don't need to worry right now. Depending on our candidate, that could change , but the economy, Trumps effective communication, and Republicans hatred for a everyone else gives him a major boost.
|by Anonymous||reply 52||04/13/2019|
A candidate with a weak platform will not be able to defeat Trump.
|by Anonymous||reply 53||04/13/2019|
KEEP AMERICA GREAT!
|by Anonymous||reply 54||04/13/2019|
Not as sad as Jeb! asking his crowd to clap for him, but sad nonetheless.
|by Anonymous||reply 55||04/13/2019|
He unofficially announced a couple of months ago. Why is he having the official announcement today. He lost his initial momentum.
|by Anonymous||reply 56||04/13/2019|
Yes R48, there was MJ music playing at the rally.
|by Anonymous||reply 57||04/13/2019|
Buttigieg is having his rollout tomorrow and Chasten has been tweeting about it. They are inviting people from out of town to come. I’ve seen tweets from gays from several states away saying they are bringing their family members because to them it’s like blacks waiting for Obama’s announcement for the 2008 election.
It will be interesting to see how many come for this.
So what about Booker? Is he making his announcement to an empty lawn? How depressing for him.
|by Anonymous||reply 58||04/13/2019|
Yes, Booker really did play Michael Jackson music.
|by Anonymous||reply 59||04/13/2019|
Cory Booker is unauthentic because he couldn't stop lying on CNN about healthcare in America.
|by Anonymous||reply 60||04/13/2019|
How long before he drops out?
|by Anonymous||reply 61||04/13/2019|
|by Anonymous||reply 62||04/13/2019|
It would be nice but he won’t do it before the debates. Hell I’d reckon he’ll keep going through the southern primaries, figuring he can make up for lost ground there.
|by Anonymous||reply 63||04/13/2019|
Not quite empty, around 4000 people showed up (after they delayed the start by 2 hours.) They were expecting 10,000 so less than half what they planned for. Pretty disappounting turnout on a beautiful spring day in his hometown. Remember the crowds Klobuchar got at her kickoff in Minnesota, waiting for hours in a blizzard?
I’ll be interested to see Butta-however it’s spelled’s crowd tomorrow.
|by Anonymous||reply 64||04/13/2019|
Was Rosario there?
|by Anonymous||reply 65||04/13/2019|
They're all at the Bernie Sanders rally.
|by Anonymous||reply 66||04/13/2019|
I was so pissed when they chose this dolt to speak at my college graduation. We had Whoopi the year before and Aileen Quinn from Annie spoke at Monmouth University that same week.
Screw you, Montclair State.
|by Anonymous||reply 67||04/13/2019|
This is not a defense of Jeb! Bush generally, because I loathe him, but if you watch that "Please clap" clip below, it appears that he's sort of joking rather than pathetically pleading.
It is true that the audience is not reacting strongly to what should have been an applause line. But he's wearing a half-smile, as if aware that he just doesn't have it but protocol demands a little something from the crowd.
I'm glad he's gone from the political scene, along with his entire family, but what's wrong with him is a lot worse than his tired homilies and lack of spark.
|by Anonymous||reply 68||04/13/2019|
Maybe no one wanted to go because it was in Newark and they were afraid for their lives?
Did anyone question how he expects to effect change in the US when he’s done essentially nothing to help Newark? Other than raising awareness of himself and PR baiting?
|by Anonymous||reply 69||04/13/2019|
Cory Booker used to be close to Michael Jackson and Roseanne Barr’s Rabbi Smulley. Smulley was always out there doing or for the child molester. Booker may still be close to him for all I know../
|by Anonymous||reply 70||04/13/2019|
I guess the world is more ready for white gay men than black gay men (and white gay women).
|by Anonymous||reply 71||04/13/2019|
Sorry, Hil. Can’t keep hiding an unelectable candidate behind the veil of race and gender.
|by Anonymous||reply 72||04/13/2019|
[QUOTE]I'm glad he's gone from the political scene, along with his entire family, but what's wrong with him is a lot worse than his tired homilies and lack of spark.
Believe me, the Bushes are far from over. They’re like the Kennedys. Got all sorts of children and grandchildren and great grandchildren getting ready to enter politics, along with Jeb’s son George P. who’s probably on the verge of becoming governor of Texas soon.
|by Anonymous||reply 73||04/13/2019|
A candidate with a small crowd of supporters will not be able to defeat Trump.
|by Anonymous||reply 74||04/13/2019|
It’s RACISM that prevented a black leader from drumming up interest in a predominantly black city!
|by Anonymous||reply 75||04/13/2019|
George Bush had to rehabilitate himself after being arrested for stalking/threatening his ex gf. In the age of MeToo George will never get beyond Texas as he is one creepy dude.
|by Anonymous||reply 76||04/13/2019|
Mist be humiliating for Cory who takes credit for resurrecting Newark's downtown business district. While he was busy courting businesses, his peeps got left behind. Guess they had no reason to show up.
|by Anonymous||reply 77||04/13/2019|
MeToo only hurts Democrats. Considering we have a rapist president with a good chance of being re-elected, I don’t think it would’ve hurt Bush all that much today.
|by Anonymous||reply 78||04/13/2019|
Newark is a fucking shithole!
|by Anonymous||reply 79||04/13/2019|
Booker and Beto are the two weirdest candidates I've ever seen. Mayor Pete believes in virtually the same policies, but he does it in a calm, reasonable way, unlike the flailing arms and revival-type rhetoric of the Wacky Duo.
|by Anonymous||reply 80||04/13/2019|
It's sad he couldn't fill the crowd considering he represented the city and supposedly saved it or something. He's inauthentic and there's too many better options. My guess is he stays in till Iowa and makes a deal to get out, although I'm not sure we'll know by then who he should be making the deal with.
|by Anonymous||reply 81||04/13/2019|
He's so fucking butch!
|by Anonymous||reply 82||04/13/2019|
Also the fact he wore a suit shows how disconnected he is with working class people.
Also, who tf is still named Cory?
|by Anonymous||reply 83||04/13/2019|
He is best suited to his current job. Nowadays, everyone thinks they have to run for president.
|by Anonymous||reply 84||04/13/2019|
No Democrat will have as easy/ better chance of being elected than in 2020. It's why the field is so crowded.
|by Anonymous||reply 85||04/13/2019|
Booker would certainly have a lot of energy, passion and drive to beat Trump.
|by Anonymous||reply 86||04/13/2019|
"Inauthentic Booker" - Trump
|by Anonymous||reply 87||04/13/2019|
He says his romantic life is "still evolving" (WaPo today). At 50.
|by Anonymous||reply 88||04/13/2019|
Correct. All his supporters are at Coachella and using the drugs that support the drug firms that support him. It's the circle of life.
|by Anonymous||reply 89||04/13/2019|
That's what life's all about. Evolving.
|by Anonymous||reply 90||04/13/2019|
He speaks in platitudes.
|by Anonymous||reply 91||04/13/2019|
And we get to see real excitement with Mayor Pete's announcement tomorrow.
|by Anonymous||reply 92||04/13/2019|
There are too many candidates and it's too early! People will not really start paying attention until January as they gear up for the primaries.
|by Anonymous||reply 93||04/13/2019|
R33, name recognition has nothing to do with low turnout today. The rally was held in Newark (a city where Booker was mayor for years) which is in NJ (a state where he is currently a senator). I can understand if people in bumfuck Iowa don't recognize him, but not Newark, NJ.
|by Anonymous||reply 94||04/13/2019|
He has a mouth full of mush like this —
“The only way to overcome tough challenges is by extending grace, finding common ground, and working together.”
‘Extending grace’?? wtf does that even mean? He’s such a fucking poser. Phony ass.
|by Anonymous||reply 95||04/13/2019|
Good thing Booker has that hot piece of single mom to console him after an embarrassing day.
|by Anonymous||reply 96||04/13/2019|
Dreams My Father Never Taught Me
|by Anonymous||reply 97||04/13/2019|
Does Cory have a composite girlfriend too?
|by Anonymous||reply 98||04/13/2019|
R96. ‘Extending grace’ is a term meaningful to Catholics
|by Anonymous||reply 99||04/13/2019|
R99, I use it too!
|by Anonymous||reply 100||04/13/2019|
Didn't he rescue someone from a burning building while Mayor of Newark?
|by Anonymous||reply 101||04/13/2019|
[quote] George Bush had to rehabilitate himself after being arrested for stalking/threatening his ex gf. In the age of MeToo George will never get beyond Texas as he is one creepy dude.
|by Anonymous||reply 102||04/13/2019|
[quote][R50] not really. Republican's have an absolute rockstar candidate that fires up his base
And is hated by everyone else. Who has proven glaringly, embarrassingly incompetent. Who has record high disapproval. Who won an electoral vote win by something like 70k votes while getting crushed in the popular vote count. Please, stop talking about him like he’s tungsten steel.
|by Anonymous||reply 103||04/13/2019|
Booker has no chance. He should moonwalk right out of the race.
|by Anonymous||reply 104||04/13/2019|
How does ‘extending grace’ work to ‘overcome tough challenges,’ exactly? Is he planning to win the election against Trump by ‘extending grace’?
He’s so full of shit with this phony inspiration crap. Trying to be the next Barack ‘hope and change’ Obama. You’re no Obama, Cory. Fuck off.
|by Anonymous||reply 105||04/13/2019|
[quote] Maybe no one wanted to go because it was in Newark and they were afraid for their lives?
That and general lack of interest.
|by Anonymous||reply 106||04/13/2019|
Maybe they were afraid there'd be a shooting.
|by Anonymous||reply 107||04/13/2019|
[quote] I’ll be interested to see Butta-however it’s spelled’s crowd tomorrow.
Buttigeig's announcement has been moved inside because of really lousy weather. It will be held in an old Studebaker Automobile factory building instead of outside and they have cut the expected attendance in half to 5,000.
Too bad he couldn't have held it today in South Bend the weather was sunny and beautiful but I suppose he didn't want to mess with Booker's announcement plus Notre Dame was holding their intra squad spring football game today.
Picture is where the announcement will be held, but it has been cleaned out for the announcement.
|by Anonymous||reply 108||04/13/2019|
They couldn’t find a better place than that??
|by Anonymous||reply 109||04/13/2019|
Weather is no excuse for poor rally attendance. I bet Joe Biden won’t have any problems getting people when he launches.
|by Anonymous||reply 110||Last Sunday at 5:08 AM|
Biden would be president now if dumb Obama had picked him to run in 2016 instead of Hillary with all her baggage. His time is gone this time in me2 area.
|by Anonymous||reply 111||Last Sunday at 5:33 AM|
I like him, he seems earnest and has good ideas, but he just doesn't have charisma.
|by Anonymous||reply 112||Last Sunday at 6:00 AM|
Yeah, #111- what made her think she could win?
|by Anonymous||reply 113||Last Sunday at 6:02 AM|
No one wants to listen to someone rant and holler, especially if there's no real message. The way he rants and hollers it's like he's going to blow the speakers. All while saying nothing.
|by Anonymous||reply 114||Last Sunday at 6:55 AM|
Yeah even when Booker was Mayor of Newark, I never enjoyed hearing him speak. He used to pop up on MSNBC and I’d either tune out or change the channel.
In fact the only people from this group whom I enjoy hearing from are Mayor Pete, Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden, Tim Ryan and Andrew Yang. There’s an authenticity and ownership behind their words that I don’t feel when all these other clowns speak.
|by Anonymous||reply 115||Last Sunday at 7:03 AM|
He has the vibe of an unctuous talk show host.
|by Anonymous||reply 116||Last Sunday at 7:33 AM|
Booker lost me with that well rehearsed bit at the Kavanaugh confirmation. It didn't seem genuine but more like "I'm going to be running for president"
None of the other candidates that were there came off that way even though they had aspirations.
|by Anonymous||reply 117||Last Sunday at 7:56 AM|
People aren't interested in bigot enablers.
|by Anonymous||reply 118||Last Sunday at 7:59 AM|
..America will not elect another black man as president for another millennia
|by Anonymous||reply 119||Last Sunday at 8:03 AM|
R117, Kamala Harris came off that way to me.
|by Anonymous||reply 120||Last Sunday at 8:05 AM|
[QUOTE]People aren't interested in bigot enablers.
So no chance for Pete?
|by Anonymous||reply 121||Last Sunday at 8:07 AM|
Biden is #metoo and OLD. No one is going near him. Booker is a closet queen. Sanders is never ever going to happen.
|by Anonymous||reply 122||Last Sunday at 8:11 AM|
Then why does Biden still have such a substantial lead in all the polls, one that will only grow after he announces?
|by Anonymous||reply 123||Last Sunday at 8:13 AM|
R123 - the Trump machine hasn't revved up against Sanders. He will be toast.
|by Anonymous||reply 124||Last Sunday at 8:21 AM|
Only on DL is Booker gay. Not a single whisper in DC or NO. Ffs.
|by Anonymous||reply 125||Last Sunday at 8:25 AM|
There are certainly whispers in NYC. In fact, it's taken for granted by the politicos I know. Not necessarily accurately, but it's assumed.
|by Anonymous||reply 126||Last Sunday at 8:34 AM|
[quote]So no chance for Pete?
Nope, nor the other Dem candidates who participated in the Bigot Sharpton's Parade of Fools.
|by Anonymous||reply 127||Last Sunday at 8:34 AM|
You've missed quite a few blind items then, R125. It's not just DL.
[quote]His time is gone this time in me2 area.
Russian bot, or just illiterate?
|by Anonymous||reply 128||Last Sunday at 8:36 AM|
[QUOTE]Only on DL is Booker gay.
So he was addressing posts on Datalounge here?
|by Anonymous||reply 129||Last Sunday at 8:37 AM|
He should wear open-necked shirts without ties.
To stop his head looking like an American Football ball
|by Anonymous||reply 130||Last Sunday at 9:30 AM|
That eye-bulging, screeching speech at the 2016 Convention really ruined him for me. Creepy.
|by Anonymous||reply 131||Last Sunday at 9:41 AM|
r120, really because I was disappointed because she didn't do much but ask a question.
|by Anonymous||reply 132||Last Sunday at 4:20 PM|
r120, really this is grandstanding? He didn't want to answer the question unless he was sure she knew he spoke with someone.
|by Anonymous||reply 133||Last Sunday at 4:24 PM|
Looks like Imhurt the feelings of r132 / r133, who just happened to poat the same shit two minutes apart.
|by Anonymous||reply 134||Last Sunday at 4:27 PM|
Loverboy Booker -- What Trump would call him. But won't, since this loser will drop out.
|by Anonymous||reply 135||Last Sunday at 4:31 PM|
r134, speak English. I don't know what you are taking about.
|by Anonymous||reply 136||Last Sunday at 4:36 PM|
You're not worth correcting typos for, r136.
|by Anonymous||reply 137||Last Sunday at 4:40 PM|
So tired of the What would Trump call him Troll.
|by Anonymous||reply 138||Last Sunday at 8:01 PM|
I heard him speak of free tuition. Fine, fine, where’s my 20%
I can’t vote for him until he cancels this.
|by Anonymous||reply 139||Last Sunday at 8:08 PM|
He has a sourpuss aura about him.
Wouldn't be surprised if he posts here
|by Anonymous||reply 140||Last Sunday at 8:12 PM|
Among those not in attendance...Rosario Dawson. Interesting, since this was his big debut...
|by Anonymous||reply 141||Last Monday at 1:37 AM|
He deserves reparations.
|by Anonymous||reply 142||Last Monday at 3:33 AM|
Sharpton is the kiss of death. I'd steer clear of him if I was even thinking about running. Buttigieg is gonna fuck himself by getting involved with him.
|by Anonymous||reply 143||Last Tuesday at 5:05 PM|
Polls R123? Did you say fucking POLLS?
|by Anonymous||reply 144||Last Tuesday at 5:07 PM|
Who is the girlfriend he describes as "having a day job in acting"?
|by Anonymous||reply 145||Last Tuesday at 5:09 PM|
If you want a better crowd, maybe try coming out of the closet first, bitch!
|by Anonymous||reply 146||Last Tuesday at 5:18 PM|
Makes me think of this.
|by Anonymous||reply 147||Last Tuesday at 6:02 PM|
He’s a joke, in a very long line of absurd politicians who have been elected statewide in New Jersey.
