I don't know about this upcoming album. It does seem like M has put a lot of effort into it but then again she also spends half her time on Instagram filming her kids or filming herself with bunny ears and weird filters.

I just don't know if she is intuitive as she used to be. Through the '80s and '90s, Madonna followed her instincts and they worked for her. She also had great producers to help sharpen her ideas. I am hoping Mirwais is heavily involved and will steer the album in the right direction. But... I just don't know if she has it anymore. She seems so out of touch nowadays.

I really loved Confessions, but every album since has seemed to be worse; not sure if it's age or it's all just been done, but I am dubious that she has another great album in her.

But should she quit just because she's not as good as she used to be? Lots of artists do really brilliantly in their youth and then their later output sucks comparatively. U2 and REM come to mind. Elton John, too. I know damn well all 25+ Cher albums aren't on the same level of Madonna's best stuff. I like bits and pieces of Madonna's last three records, even if it's not 1989-92 level anymore.

After "Confessions..." she decided that she should follow trends and compete with the likes of stars-du-jour such as Katy Perry and Rihanna. Ever since, I've been wanting to slap her and tell her: "Bitch, you're Madonna! Your job is not to follow the lead of inferior clones enjoying temporary popularity but to do your own thing and raise the bar!" If she stopped caring about what 20 year old kids listen to and followed her gut, worked with someone who gets both pop music and Madonna's own legacy, she'd come up with that elusive great pop album that I believe she still has in her.

Ive heard a few of the tracks that will probably wind up on the album- which she was originally going to call either Goddess or Queen Bitch (Madam X was very last minute). The few songs I heard were fine- nothing you'll remember years from now. Think of some of the better MDNA or RH. I heard 2 songs she recorded with Deejay Telio but they wont wind up on the album because of so,e weird contract issue. Its a shame because they were good. One was called Me Provoca, Me Provoca (the song was in English except a few parts that were in Portugese. I really liked that one.
