no. those glass blocks are so fucking 80s. gut job.

by Anonymousreply 1March 14, 2019 7:28 PM

I thought he lived in New York? Loz Feliz has some really great houses. That one is indeed striking.

by Anonymousreply 2March 14, 2019 7:28 PM

I'm not so sure I'd like all the rooms to be so brightly lit. I'd need a few dark areas of the house I could hang out if I wanted to.

by Anonymousreply 3March 14, 2019 7:30 PM

I like it. And weren't '80s glass blocks literal retro?

by Anonymousreply 4March 14, 2019 7:33 PM

I think the glass blocks fit the house.

by Anonymousreply 5March 14, 2019 7:37 PM

Exactly, r5.

by Anonymousreply 6March 14, 2019 7:38 PM

It's for sale, much like Miss Shears herself!

by Anonymousreply 7March 14, 2019 7:39 PM

The glass is very California. Love it. Would take as is. Not a huge fan of the fixtures but would just remodel over time.

by Anonymousreply 8March 14, 2019 7:41 PM

that was the "dreamhouse that he and Chris Moukarble bought for their now-ended life together.

by Anonymousreply 9March 14, 2019 7:42 PM

That tiled bathroom is beautiful. I would think that I had died and gone to heaven.

by Anonymousreply 10March 14, 2019 7:47 PM

I think that bathroom is pretty basic. And a decorative fireplace? No thank you.

by Anonymousreply 11March 14, 2019 7:49 PM

The glass block would be original deco/streamline - the house was built in 1937.

by Anonymousreply 12March 14, 2019 7:52 PM

Like the house but damn that lot is tiny. Your standard issue tract house lot size is @7000sq ft vs. 5500 for this place.

by Anonymousreply 13March 14, 2019 7:53 PM

The decor is too pale, but I love the kitchen and bathrooms.

by Anonymousreply 14March 14, 2019 7:55 PM

1937 on the outside (mostly). 2007 on the inside (bathroom tile excepted).

Pass. Too much updating.

by Anonymousreply 15March 14, 2019 7:56 PM

R1 I would agree with you normally, but in this instance I think the glass blocks have more of deco/modern vibe than usual. They feel right here and, actually, are the only thing keeping the exterior from being super generic.

by Anonymousreply 16March 14, 2019 8:01 PM

The bathroom is to die for! Love the whole place, but wish we had a better pic of the stairs.

by Anonymousreply 17March 14, 2019 8:02 PM

Los Feliz rich and poor is filled with houses w/ glass block accents.

It's a particular favorite accent of mine.

by Anonymousreply 18March 14, 2019 8:06 PM

Ok, what am I missing about the bathroom? Are there other photos of it I haven't seen? I watched the video on the realtor's page and even they skipped it.

by Anonymousreply 19March 14, 2019 8:10 PM

Love the house. Hate the furnishings. Hope it's just staging crap and not his.

by Anonymousreply 20March 14, 2019 8:13 PM

Here’s the listing from 2013 (I think). I like some of the previous owner's decor better. A warmer palette and more period appropriate furniture.

Like the house very much! It'd be perfect for a tasteful aging bachelor, if I had millions to spend and any desire to live near LA.

Of course I'd redecorate, far too much white for my tastes. I'd bring in some light, mellow colors, colors that would give the sunlight full play, without being glaring or monochromatic, colors that would go with the green tile in the bathroom and the blond woods in the kitchen. And yeah, the glass bricks work where they are, in a place where you want light but don't necessarily want everyone in the neighborhood to watch you going up and down the stairs. So what if they're out of style, lots of wonderful things are out of style.

by Anonymousreply 22March 14, 2019 9:26 PM

No pool? Fail.

by Anonymousreply 23March 15, 2019 12:11 AM

It's a pretty good look at what $7500 bought in 1937. Oh, to be a time traveler.

But yes, I've lived in L.A. for 22 years, 20 without a pool. Never again.

by Anonymousreply 24March 15, 2019 12:24 AM

I took a second look at the facade. The Art Deco detail is quite good and likely more evident in real life.

by Anonymousreply 25March 15, 2019 12:34 AM

The patio is nice.

by Anonymousreply 26March 15, 2019 12:45 AM

Guess Jake is moving to Australia to be with Alec!

The new Mrs. Shears has a body, alright, but a fug face and some truly regrettable tattoos.

Who is she? What does she aspire to be?

Like the glass blocks too. Hate the mirror wall to the right of the stairs and the hideous cabinet next to it. The back porch looks cool, I'd love to read out there.

by Anonymousreply 29March 15, 2019 1:50 AM

Those are the worst tattoos ever. What a tool.

by Anonymousreply 30March 15, 2019 1:55 AM

I can’t believe a celebrity would have an open house (and have it advertised on LA Curbed). Seems like it would attract weirdos.

by Anonymousreply 31March 15, 2019 2:06 AM

Who the fuck is that thirsty queen w/ Jake Shears and why does it have a quarter of a million IG followers? I must really be out of the loop.

by Anonymousreply 32March 15, 2019 2:22 AM

I always love a good R1 who has no idea what he's talking about. Think before you speak. It's not exactly my style, but from what has been preserved and maintained, it looks good. The kitchen, while not original at least looks in keeping with the intentions of the house.

by Anonymousreply 33March 15, 2019 2:51 AM

That Alec guy is batshit crazy. Lots of solo jerk off videos floating around and I swear at one point he said he was straight.

by Anonymousreply 34March 15, 2019 3:20 AM

Those tattoos are frightening. I wouldn't want to be alone in a room with Alec and sharp objects. But I guess Jake has to take what he can get.

by Anonymousreply 35March 16, 2019 2:55 PM

That built-in banquette would have to go. The rest I could work with very well.

by Anonymousreply 36March 16, 2019 3:03 PM

The Alec guy said in an Instagram live chat that they were just friends. He (Alec) has a very big sweet side to him--the videos of him with his daughter or niece are freaking adorabke--but he does look very violent. Once I saw him with Jake, I thought, "He'll be dead in a few years." People that potentially unbalanced need assistance, not the faux attentions of celebrities.

by Anonymousreply 37March 16, 2019 3:04 PM

Absolutely beautiful home. Love the bathroom!

by Anonymousreply 38March 16, 2019 3:07 PM

Did anyone buy Jake's solo record or autobiography? Can he maintain a viable solo career or is a SS reunion on the horizon?

by Anonymousreply 39March 16, 2019 3:12 PM

He spent a shit ton on that solo album and made nothing back. No wonder he's selling.

by Anonymousreply 40March 16, 2019 3:36 PM

Alec with his toy
