BREAKING: Paul Manafort Indicted in NY Just Minutes After Sentencing on Federal Charges
ormer Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort was sentenced last week in Virginia, and sentenced again in Federal court on Wednesday. Moments after that sentencing, news broke that Manafort is now being indicted in New York on additional charges.
NBC News and the New York Times were first with the news that Manafort has been charged with “mortgage fraud and more than a dozen other state felonies” by the Manhattan DA.
Dude just can't catch a break.

NY wants these guys, big-time. That office has a personal vendetta against Dump.
Proud to be from NYC and so happy that Dump and his associates are the dumbest, most brazen criminals ever.

He’ll be pardoned for sure now.

R3 He can't be pardoned for these stage charges. The big wildcard is Gamble v. U.S. which could lead to these state charges being dismissed.

meant "state" not "stage"

R4, no, but he’ll be pardoned for the other shit so he won’t have to worry.

R4 "stage" was right : no doubt some of the prosecutors have very high political ambitions.

He is reaping what he sowed.
Please understand he has decades of criminality (that has affected or cost lives across the globe) he needs to answer for...

This is insurance that Manafort will be in trial for other charges, especially if Trump decides to pardon him, since pardons don't apply to state or other non-federal charges. It's still not clear if one can indict a sitting President on Federal (or non-Federal) charges, but they sure can bring charges to Trumps Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric and to Jared Kushner and others. Again, pardons don't work for state and local jurisdictions. This can also be a bargaining chip to get Trump to resign the Presidency, as well.

He's still getting off with a very light sentence.

A lot of you seem to be having some serious trouble keeping all this straight. Try and follow along here. Yes, he's been lightly sentenced for the federal crimes. Yes, Trump can pardon him for that stuff. These sixteen new charges are from NEW YORK STATE. They are NEW YORK STATE felonies. Trump CAN'T PARDON HIM for those. That's why he was charged with these new crimes immediately after being sentenced for the last round of federal crimes, because Trump can't do shit about them.
In other words, assuming he is convicted for the New York STATE crimes, he WON'T get out of serving his sentence. Those of you who are like "yeah, well, Trump will just pardon him, whaah, whaah" need to pay a bit more attention to the world around you.

Wow. R14, you sound like a major cunt. Very effete sounding and bitchy. I think, like, one poster didn't understand that these state charges couldn't be pardoned by POTUS. Not all of us gathered here.
But thank you for coming down from on high to educate us plebeians.

How will Manafort have any money left over to hire lawyers to defend him against these new charges?
Isn't she POOR now?

Please let him go away for 20 years.

He's 70 years old. His life won't end well that's for sure. He's going down in NY and Trump can't pardon him for that.

R16 He has $5M in assets that we know about, there may be more hidden in an overseas account or accounts that were overlooked or in his wife or daughters accounts.

R15 I realize that not everyone in this thread is confused about what's going on, but there's clearly more than one person here who hasn't got a clue.
