And how do they differ from the suburbs along the Pike, west of Brighton?
Please describe the suburbs of Route 2, west of Cambridge

I think you refer to some pretty tony addresses. Belmont, Lincoln, Concord, etc. Some of them are pastural. Very nice and also expensive.

Arlington is a well kept secret adjacent to Cambridge. Very walkable, with lots of nice restaurants and shops along Mass Ave.

Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Acton, Littleton, all very pricey. Littleton not as much because it's far out. Arlington is also pricey but closer in. All towns are pretty, historic, and dull. Boxborough and the Town of Harvard are boonies rural towns.
Waltham, being more urban and industrial might be more affordable. It's also home to Brandeis and Bentley universities.

Waltham is more affordable, but it's also not on Route 2.
