Buckhead reminds me of parts of Northern Virginia. Really nice.
It's strange, I can't think of where Atlanta makes its money. It seems like the majority is from real estate development.
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 21, 2019 6:09 PM |
For the last 30 years, Atlanta has become more of a black hollywood. Pebbles + LA Reid moved there and brought the music business with them. Since then it has only grown. Now reality shows thrive in Atlanta, further adding to entertainment. It's gotten to the point now where some tv shows and films film in Atlanta too. Atlanta has a huge black population and culture as well. Ever go to a hair show?
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 21, 2019 6:12 PM |
*huge GAY black population

by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 21, 2019 6:15 PM |
I see the old adage "If Atlanta could suck as hard as she could blow, she'd be a seaport" is alive and well.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 21, 2019 6:29 PM |
Traffic is LA levels of awful. That ain’t Wakanda.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 21, 2019 6:31 PM |
I definitely agree it’s a black Mecca. But it is one of my least favorite cities. No redeeming qualities I can think of.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 21, 2019 6:40 PM |
It's a great city to live in -- but for the traffic.
But I don't get why people visit.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 21, 2019 6:41 PM |
I dated a guy in Atlanta for a couple of years, and I never really warmed to it in all my visits. Though, I guess I like it best out of all the big sunbelt cities.
Showy, nouveau and suburban-feeling (for all its endless traffic and disconnected clusters of skyscrapers). A weirdly unimaginative place (when it doubt let’s call it Peachtree!) full of strip clubs, strip malls, sports teams nobody gives a shit about and big mediocre restaurants with valet (for the seemingly mandatory leased white luxury vehicle).
Also, as a bleeding heart white guy, I know I should be aspiring to get “invited to the Cookout.” But frankly, I no longer trust Black twitter’s ability to accurately gauge if their aunties’ potato salad and Mac and Cheese is legitimately good or not after having eaten at the execrable and insanely popular Cookout restaurant chain.

Oh, dear.
That's not true. Much of Atlanta's film work is done on sound stages. And inside locations.

According to the cunts on LSA, Atlanta's full of self-hating black men who love to fuck fat white women when THEY sit at home alone wondering why no one wants to fuck THEM.

“Great” if you like fundy Christian, gun-hugging Republicans as governor, senators and reps. What’s not to love?

And obnoxious "Atlanta" commercials where Childish Gambino looks confused and the only white guy says something stupid and is "frowned" upon.

Lived there for 20 years. Ghastly. Lots of folks keepin it real, getting theirs and getting paid. Ghetto AF. The gays there are truly and honestly batshit crazy. Most of them have some sort of disease or a drug problem because they’re so promiscuous.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 21, 2019 8:09 PM |
Yeah the gays there do seem either drugged out or alcoholic. Not pretty. And not friendly. A weird vibe.

All I want to know is this: are there cute, hot, black gay guys in Atlanta or is it just a bunch of Rupaul wannabes?
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 22, 2019 8:11 AM |
R40 there are hot guys of all races, creeds, colors, and sexual persuasions everywhere you look in Atlanta.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 22, 2019 12:13 PM |
A real diversity of black guys. I’ve never seen so many black preppies anywhere.

by Anonymous | reply 47 | February 22, 2019 5:32 PM |
It's quite beautiful with the hills and the dogwood trees. Very pretty for a big, sprawled out city. Traffic is hell and getting worse. The gays here are not down to earth and up front. Seems everyone is hiding a big secrete or running a scam. You see these pissy A-list wanna be's who are one paycheck from the curb. Not that this only goes on in Atlanta.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 22, 2019 5:44 PM |

[quote] The gays here are not down to earth and up front.
Atlanta is a metropolitan area with hundreds of thousands of homosexuals. So you've apparently met them all. Maybe you should consider changing the places and types of homosexuals you hang out in and with because I can assure you there are far more of us who are perfectly nice, up front, down to earth people, than the sleazy lowlifes you seem to encounter.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 22, 2019 6:07 PM |
All these Atlanta haters must be some ugly bitches. I lived there 4 different times over the years, the last being 96-98,and I always had a blast. The bars were fantastic,Backstreets being my hands down fave, and I found the gay community to be very welcoming. Of course,I was very cute so....
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 22, 2019 6:09 PM |
Nah, they're just the typical "let's trash everything, every place, and everybody" types. Most of them have very likely never even been to Atlanta.

R53, "old money" in the South? Slavery.
by Anonymous | reply 54 | February 22, 2019 6:16 PM |
There is a big "party" culture with lots of drugs. Not everyone but quite a few partake in the wild side of things, and you do meet a lot of sketchy people. But I'm sure there's lots of people here who aren't into that scene. Coming to Atlanta from Dallas, I was surprised to see how many people in Atlanta party hard (and have hard partier problems).
by Anonymous | reply 55 | February 22, 2019 6:23 PM |
It's that way in every big city.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 22, 2019 6:52 PM |
This thread has made me want to book a flight to Atlanta.
What are the best places to check out hot, black, gay guys?
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 22, 2019 7:06 PM |
Sorry, can't be of much help there. I haven't been into the bar scene in decades. I live somewhat near a popular gay watering hole called Blakes (on 10th St.). It's been around for 30 years and still seems quite popular.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 22, 2019 10:13 PM |
Ugh ! Blakes is the worst of the worst stand and model bars ! Nothing but a bunch of snooty queens shooting way above their levels. Of course Im speaking from years ago,it might be different now.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 23, 2019 2:50 PM |
Atlanta is for rich blacks.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 23, 2019 3:00 PM |
Agree R55. The gay scene has a very druggy/alcoholic vibe. Messy and ugly with people getting by on credit cards. Never experienced a good time in the dozen or more times I was there. Houston, Nashville, Tampa would all be preferable.
