Music legend is reported to police ‘after groping man in a hotel toilets
by Anonymous | reply 99 | February 23, 2019 2:38 AM |
My first guess, Sir Elton-- was touring the United States in 2009 for most of the year but did perform in London in September. Girl better come correct with the dates
by Anonymous | reply 1 | February 20, 2019 7:43 AM |
Elton John or Cliff Richard
by Anonymous | reply 2 | February 20, 2019 7:43 AM |
statute of limitations?
by Anonymous | reply 3 | February 20, 2019 7:55 AM |
Elton John was at Caesars Palace from the 3rd to the 15th of February, then he was off until the second week of March.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | February 20, 2019 7:56 AM |
Elton? No wonder the victim is still traumatised. I'm dry-heaving just thinking about it. Is that why they made the "anon shadow profile" look like Chris Martin? To indicate a baldy-man?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | February 20, 2019 7:59 AM |
There is no statute of limitations in the UK R3.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | February 20, 2019 8:00 AM |
The emphasis on the word THAT makes me think it could be a member of Take That. The only famous ones really are Robbie Williams and Gary Barlow. Don't know, don't really care. Psychological trauma a decade later - someone's looking for a #metoo payday.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | February 20, 2019 8:33 AM |
To add to R6 - especially where sexual assault is concerned. We've jailed paedophiles for historic abuses going back 20, 30 - even 40 years because the victims found the strength to report them.
My money's on Elton John, though I wouldn't put it past any number of younger pop stars.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | February 20, 2019 8:33 AM |
The article at OP has been updated with little changes throughout. The first paragraph now refers to a pop star rather than a musician, and a millionaire instead of a male star.
[quote]A British pop star has been reported to police after allegedly fondling a man in a hotel toilet nine years ago - with the alleged victim also planning to sue the millionaire, it emerged today.
The Sun's take...
[quote]A MAJOR British music star is under investigation by police over an allegation that he indecently assaulted a young man.
[quote]The singer, a household name who is idolised by fans, is accused of groping the man in the toilets at a top Central London hotel.

R7 I thought Robbie Williams, too
by Anonymous | reply 10 | February 20, 2019 8:59 AM |
I think Robbie Williams too
by Anonymous | reply 11 | February 20, 2019 9:01 AM |
The ‘THAT’ is OP’s, and does anyone still idolize Robbie Williams? Sir Cliff on the other hand is a man adrift in a sea of nubile pussy.
Maybe Auntie will ask for a refund.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | February 20, 2019 9:22 AM |
Pete Townshend?
by Anonymous | reply 13 | February 20, 2019 9:25 AM |
An adult male is still traumatized that someone grabbed his crotch 10 years ago? Why didn't he kick the musician in the nutsack and leave?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | February 20, 2019 9:25 AM |
Robbie Williams was staying there when they had the recent fire right?
by Anonymous | reply 15 | February 20, 2019 9:40 AM |
This did not happen.
No one just fondles anyone in a public toilet. The star was led on. The young man then decided he would go for the money.
Trust me.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | February 20, 2019 10:14 AM |
This is pathetic. A grown man is traumatized by this?
"Show me on the dolly where the bad man touched you."

Hasn't R. Kelly (Robert Sylvester Kelly) stayed at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in London?
by Anonymous | reply 18 | February 20, 2019 10:21 AM |
Robert Plant?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | February 20, 2019 10:21 AM |
How many British men singers of that era qualify as a "legend"?
Mccartney, Elton, Bono, Sting
by Anonymous | reply 20 | February 20, 2019 10:35 AM |
Robbie Williams.

Let's see who it is first.
Stars tend to be very litigious.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | February 20, 2019 1:46 PM |
R20 bono is Irish. Doubt they'd call him a British singer.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | February 20, 2019 1:56 PM |
If it's one of Take That, I'm going to say Howard Donald. He always seemed a bit off, even in the 1990s.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | February 20, 2019 2:05 PM |
Gary Barlow, because I hate him.
by Anonymous | reply 28 | February 20, 2019 2:21 PM |
Was George Michael still alive back then?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | February 20, 2019 3:06 PM |
Another vote for Pete Townshend
by Anonymous | reply 30 | February 20, 2019 3:08 PM |
"No one just fondles anyone in a public toilet."
Of course they do. Kevin Spacey did this to guys.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | February 20, 2019 3:09 PM |
Sure r31, with some come hither encouragement.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | February 20, 2019 3:16 PM |
I thought with Kevin Spacey it was just a big bag of pick n' mix...
by Anonymous | reply 33 | February 20, 2019 3:19 PM |
r32, no, you are wrong. He'd hit on guys he'd just met who were straight and had never shown any interest in him.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | February 20, 2019 3:24 PM |
Kevin Spacey is a music legend?
by Anonymous | reply 35 | February 20, 2019 3:35 PM |
No, I was just pointing out that some guys will hit on other men with zero encouragement.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | February 20, 2019 3:37 PM |
Is Cliff Richard on the loose again?
by Anonymous | reply 37 | February 20, 2019 3:54 PM |
Pete Townshend
by Anonymous | reply 38 | February 20, 2019 3:55 PM |
So this poor man leaves the toilet stall with his pants undone and now is crying foul? Sounds more like cottaging gone wrong.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | February 20, 2019 4:04 PM |
O.K. some really good guesses.
My money is on that freak Pete Townsend from The Who.
Doesn't anybody remember when he was raided and found with kiddie porno? He allegedly was doing "research" for a book.
He's awful.
Kathy Griffin. Right again.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | February 20, 2019 4:07 PM |
r39, he was probably straight
by Anonymous | reply 41 | February 20, 2019 4:08 PM |
Morrissey, on hiatus from celibacy?
by Anonymous | reply 42 | February 20, 2019 4:09 PM |
r17 = Kevin Spacey
by Anonymous | reply 43 | February 20, 2019 4:10 PM |
Money grab - pure and simple.
And thus, the pendulum swings, and we return to viewing all such reports, irrespective of gender or sexual orientation, as suspect.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | February 20, 2019 4:15 PM |
R29 yes he was, but this person is still alive now. I vote for Robbie Williams , though he's not really a legend he was certainly very popular at the time.
by Anonymous | reply 45 | February 20, 2019 4:16 PM |
The elderly on Datalounge believe there is no such thing as molestation or unwanted sexual attentions. Anyone who claims unwanted groping desperately wanted it.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | February 20, 2019 4:17 PM |
"And thus, the pendulum swings, and we return to viewing all such reports, irrespective of gender or sexual orientation, as suspect."
You sound really stupid.

"The pop star, who is reported to have been waiting outside, is alleged to have fondled the 26-year-old in an intimate area as he tried to button his trousers.
"AN" intimate area?
by Anonymous | reply 48 | February 20, 2019 4:21 PM |
To add to R4, he was in LA for at least a few days around 23 February 2009, per articles about his usual Oscar party.
Then again, he told press he was "hands-on" with his waiters and wouldn't hire any "ugly" ones, so it's not like he wouldn't grope a guy.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | February 20, 2019 4:23 PM |
I think Kevin Spacey has hit the Pop charts in England in the past.
by Anonymous | reply 50 | February 20, 2019 4:58 PM |
Yeah, who could forget his hit dance song "I Want Your Dick"
by Anonymous | reply 51 | February 20, 2019 4:59 PM |
This may be unfair, but as a man who was RAPED as a tiny little kid under the age of 5, I can absolutely guarantee you that now, as a grown man, if some dude grabbed me by the nuts, I"d probably try to cave his head in with a toilet seat cover or the like, one of those repressed rage thingies were you beat the man s head in with about 100 blows type a deals. IF the alledged victim was say under the age of 12, ok sure, can see him not fighting back against a grown man. Just my 2 cents.
May seem harsh for a rape victim not to support another man that was sexually abused, but this doesn't pass the smell test for me.

Sure you would *rolls eyes*
People say stuff like this, I guess because they think it makes them sound macho, but if a FAMOUS guy hit on you, I bet you'd be too intimidated to do anything

It’s cute how R44 thinks she’s fooling anyone into believing she was ever on the other side of the swinging pendulum

From CDAN today...
Blind Item #7
This foreign born former A list singer in a group and solo turned B+ lister iconic singer is being investigated by the police in his native country over a decade old sexual assault allegation. This now aging star is denying the allegation he groped a young male industry insider inside a hotel toilet. It's very bad timing for the outspoken star who has a new album and tour on the way.
The guess seem to go with Morrissey from The Smiths??
by Anonymous | reply 56 | February 20, 2019 5:53 PM |
a young male industry insider = rent boy or drugs supplier
by Anonymous | reply 57 | February 20, 2019 6:02 PM |
[quote] "No one just fondles anyone in a public toilet." Of course they do. Kevin Spacey ALLEGEDLY did this to guys.
Fixed it for you, R31.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | February 20, 2019 6:03 PM |
How can it possibly be proven that someone was fondled a decade ago? This entire thing is becoming ridiculous.
by Anonymous | reply 59 | February 20, 2019 6:05 PM |
Boy George? How about Marilyn.
by Anonymous | reply 60 | February 20, 2019 6:24 PM |
Please. Marilyn would give his right arm to be remembered by the postman never mind be described as a “music legend”.
by Anonymous | reply 61 | February 20, 2019 6:27 PM |
Well what did he expect - it was in Knightsbridge after all.
by Anonymous | reply 62 | February 20, 2019 6:29 PM |
Elton John has been securing the hottest hookers around the world for decades.
DECADES. The man knows how to get laid by the hottest men, whenever he wants.
Elton John does not need to grab at some dude's wet dick to get his jollies.
by Anonymous | reply 63 | February 20, 2019 6:35 PM |
If it were Elton, you can bet CDAN would have used AAA+++ superlatives to describe him. Plus Elton was never in a group.
by Anonymous | reply 64 | February 20, 2019 6:39 PM |
Now that I thought about plausible candidates, I'm thinking it might be Boy George, but he's not a B+ lister as a solo act. He's been known to have hustlers tied to radiators at his home.
He or Robbie Williams. Morrissey has been holed up in Italy for a while, only making appearances in the UK when there's some racist garbage for him to throw up.
by Anonymous | reply 65 | February 20, 2019 6:44 PM |
Years of Refusal was released on 16/02/09 and Morrissey was in London doing press and appearances at the time. Also, he's been spotted at the Mandarin Oriental many times.
Still, I want it to be Cliff 'I shaved it like this just for you, Jesus!' Richard.

Blind items are almost never accurate about level of stardom and to grab more attention they usually inflate the notoriety of their subjects.
It's pointless to use our own definitions of A or B list to eliminate anyone.

Sting
by Anonymous | reply 71 | February 20, 2019 8:21 PM |
Pete Townsend isn’t a pop star, he’s a rock star. Same with Rbt Plant

Unreal.

Sir Elton does not use public restrooms. His valet always brings along his ruby encrusted silver pisspot in a velvet casket.

R61 Yes, it was the Boy George connection that made me exaggerate.
Not to go off topic but I was actually a fan of Marilyn in the 80's. He looked incredible back then. I remember when Boy George and Pete Burns were having public spats about which of them looked better, I was always thinking, "Have you seen Marilyn?!" I thought his songs were good and that one 80's LP he did was great, he had an amazing voice.
I wondered why Marilyn's career never took off like Culture Club of Dead or Alive, and when I began following him on Twitter decades later it soon became obvious. Bitch is a meeeeeeessy messy mess mess of a mess! The drama! Not sure he's still on Twitter.

Marilyn's only album "Despite Straight Lines" is surprisingly good, given that his career basically lasted only a year or two.

Paul McCartney

I’m just glad it’s not Petula Clark.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | February 20, 2019 9:08 PM |
Marilyn's twitter is hilarious/tragic. Until recently it'd be him posting pics of him from his 80s heyday with Madonna, Diana Ross etc. Then the next post would be him waiting in a car park for his social worker or something equally as bad.
I've followed him for years with a kind of glee at how tragic his life turned out compared to how good it once was but realised recently he was still on heroin until this Christmas. He spent Christmas in detox in a NHS hospital (which isn't done very much these days - you'd need some proper referrals from rehab centres for that to happen). He seems happier since though so I do feel bad for laughing at him.

Do any of the reports make reference to the singer being in a band?
by Anonymous | reply 86 | February 20, 2019 9:42 PM |
No. The band part as well as the upcoming album and tour came from CDAN.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | February 20, 2019 9:54 PM |
Sorry. "Group" not band; no mention of a band anywhere.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | February 20, 2019 10:00 PM |
Both articles refer to the singer as a "pop" star. That's not really how I'd describe M.
by Anonymous | reply 89 | February 20, 2019 10:02 PM |
I don't think anybody assumed it would be Marilyn, we're just mentioning him because of his association with Boy George.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | February 20, 2019 10:04 PM |
Elton has men throwing themselves at him, so I doubt its him. Look at his yacht pics.

It's not Townsend. 26 is way too old for him.
